Yeah but I think the difference is that fat never comes off in one condensed area. It would be like if you melted that pound of fat and then spread it over your body like butter on toast. Thats why you feel like you don't look any different with 1lb fat loss.
+FuzzleLand Yup, but it shouldn't discourage people. Regardless of what you look like after the fat loss, a small amount can have a significant positive effect of your health.
You just don't know how to go about losing weight my friend. You need to learn to start to fast slowly and you will slowly lose the weight. I LOST 25 lbs in 9 months, and look and feel great.
Damn I lost 20 pounds in 2 months and I was happy, seeing this made me happier! Then started exercising again in January and so far lost 5 pounds which disappointed me but then seeing this got me kinda glad.I only got like 10-15 pounds left to lose
Awesome! I've lost 60lbs over the past 2 years, and now I'm struggling with 5 that I've gained back. Keep thinking its not that big a deal... but wow... it IS a big deal. Time to shed that last 5 again. I know I'll feel better when I do!
So I lost 8 pounds. It has been since January so I am not losing it fast but at least I am losing it! I feel better about losing that fat after seeing this video. Thank you Doctor!
My god, people. He's talking about excess fat being disgusting and toxic. Which it IS. Two minutes of research could convince a moderately reasonable person of that. He's not trying to tell you to rid yourself of ALL your fat. Let's be rational here. It's supposed to be a motivational video, but if you'd like to make up excuses as to why he's wrong, then you're only setting yourself back. This is simple information that shouldn't even be debatable.
I didn't listen to the whole talk, because I need to go,but I am so thankful. I will never feel bad for just losing just 5 pounds of fat again! Five pounds is slot!
I like the informational part of this video. It helps put the 1 pound or the 5 pound weight loss into perspective. However, although I think it's meant to be motivational, it feels like it's fat shaming. Calling fat a toxic substance and just the sheer number of times the word "disgusting" is used just feels, well, disgusting. I had to stop watching before I even got to the end. I weigh 200% of what those lovely weight charts say I should. There are several medical reasons that have brought me here. I have never experienced the shame and disgust for myself because of it because there was nothing to do about it at the time. I've been really sick lately and lost 50 pounds and was out to see what that would really look like when I came across this video. The way things are said can have a deep impact, I'm going to delete this from my internet history go and do something else and be really busy for a while and hope that I can forget this video.
@Bodybuilder1503 I worked out a lot when I was in my teens, but then stopped and gained weight. I reached 400-405 pounds, I can still jog, walk, jump, swim, run, etc, but of course not as effeciently. Regardless, my blood pressure hit 199/109.. I decided to change. I've lost 24.6 pounds so far.. you can -sort of- see it, but the bigger you are, the less it'll show. As I lose more, the effects of losing 5-10-20 will be much much bigger.
Thank you very much for this video, I'm trying to shed that fat around my stomach and waist and needed the motivation to keep on with proper diet and exercise. Seeing the fat represented like that helped a lot, so thanks a ton :)
It can sometimes be hard to notice the difference at first because when you burn fat, it doesn't all come off from one area. Fat can be stored around your internal organs as well as under your skin. For example, doing hundreds of ab crunches won't burn fat from just around the waist, it comes from all areas of your body. But if the scales say you've lost 14lb you're obviously doing something right! Good work!
Fat isn't necessarily toxic. Too much is definitely not good for you or aesthetically pleasing, but too much water or anything is also not good for you. That doesnt make water toxic though..
Burning a thousand calories a day and working out 7 days a week, I burn a net calories of 1000. Has been averaging anywhere between 1.8 - 2.3 pounds a week
Ok! This really frustrates me! Apparently I'm ~180lbs overweight. If this is what fat looks like then it's just not possible that I have 180 lbs of fat on me. So now I'm pissed. I don't know what to think anymore. From how this looks, I have maybe ~30 on my abdomin, ~30 all over my legs, and ~15 on my arms, so ~ 75 altogether.
Wow! Thank you for this! I have lost 7kg (15.4lbs) then gain back 2kg due to lack of exercise (im 59kg now and 5ft still overweight). I just realize i should still be thankful not gaining back all of it. I could just imagine 15lbs of chunk all over my body. I should get my discipline back.
But when I stopped eating stuff with sugar in it like, cookies, pop tarts, and dubbie cakes, I felt like crack head, I couldn't stop eat them for a while and I really didn't really eat them that much to begin but I would up fighting with self to stop eat that crap and finally broke through. ( continued next commit section)
Christ, I was sitting here thinking about the 4.8 weight loss I've had with my diet already and if I should be able to tell if I have lost it or not, but wow. I'm really proud of myself at the moment! Geez.
Sure fat might seem disgusting if you are overweight but fat is not disgusting. It it necessary in our bodies and we should be grateful for this amazing way to store energy in an efficient way. Please don't state that fat is a toxin. That is absolutely wrong.
Unfortunately, there is such thing as water weight.. an average woman may flucuate up to 5 pounds of water weight through too much sodium consumption and not enough water intake.
It is crazy how huge 1lb of fat is. Also consider that 1lb of fat represents about 3500 calories of stored energy. That is not a lot. It's about one can of Coke a day for a month. It's 23 oz of Cool Ranch Doritos (check how much is in the bag). It's about 12-16 donuts. 15 plain english muffins. 1 slice of bread a day for a month. 30 tablespoons of olive oil. To lose 1 lb of fat a week, you only need a daily combination of 500 calories of eating less/exercising more (assuming you're at steady weight and not gaining). That's really not a lot.
1:46 "It feels like fat; it's quite disgusting." 3:28 "But it feels like fat too; it's quite disgusting." Dr. Ray Hinish - Most amusing, yet creepiest man on youtube.
*gag* I honestly find it funny how this guy is still enthusiastic even after showing what body fat looks like. After watching this video... all the more reason to lose weight I guess.
excellent video....very inspiring , and disguisting is the PERFECT word to describe fat- BECAUSE THATS WHAT IT IS.. .... :) im super charged about my weight loss journey now
I lost 4 of those 5lbers since Aug 1st! Whoohoo me. I've been losing about 1- 1.5lbs a week but they come off in "Chunks". I stay at a weight for a week or two then lose like 3 the next week. Dont know why. I've been thinking I've actually lost more fat cause I've been lifting weights and have gotten alot stronger since I started. I know muscle are more dense than fat. I started at 240 Aug 1st and now weigh 220. My goal is 205 by Jan 1st 2012. This helps visualize the loses.
Not sure how helpful it is to repeatedly call the fat "disgusting". It is what fat is. I think the visuals are helpful as they quantify the fat. The subjective value judgments can only be harmful - that fat is in our bodies - and seem to be counter to the objective nature of the demonstration.
I don't eat a lot when I'm at work. But I guess an energy drink and coffee is like 3 lbs bc I get on the scale right after. Get discouraged bc my weight has been stuck at the same amount for like 2 weeks now 🤔🤷. Get discouraged and say f it. Then eat a veggie burger w/ wheat bread & BBQ sauce. Sometimes a banana. Or eat it in the morning (too...). My weight hasn't budged at all. Be I'm doing something wrong. Maybe it's my irregular sleeping pattern. Or not
okay I was like WOW... i lost 15 lbs and I was like ugh doesnt seem so much ( and im 5'1) and I have 15 more to go to get to my goal of 114 lbs but wow this video made me feel so much better cuz it feels like the fat is coming off soooooooo slow... soooo slow but this video actually makes me proud to lose a pound... changed my attitude
@sacr3 I highly highly highly highly doubt you lost 20 pounds of FAT if you're saying it doesn't show, unless you weigh in excess of 500+ pounds, then yes that's understandable. For each pound of fat lost you lose a percentage of muscle and water as well, and the exact amount depends on your dietary choices.
thank you my boyfriend to me i loss about 5 pounds of fat after i asked him and i got pissed but now i see so thank you he is a good man and i am going to make it up to him to night o ya
WOW. So, I feel a lot better about myself, finding out I apparently cut out twins from my body. (Especially because I thought the alb chunk of fat was more like what 5lbs looked like...] Thanks for the video! This has been my ego boost/motivation for the night!
this video gave me a great wake up call foreal thanks for enlightening how much one pound a week rly is because i am never motivated to workout for a week just to lose one pound lol i feel enlightened now

Zachary Montoya No, I don't think so. Dr. Jason Fung's blog talks about fasting and muscle loss. As long as it is a complete fast little muscle mass will be lost. Only constant calorie restricted feeding would cause a loss.
I've lost 35lb so far this year and fucking hell, this video made me feel good about it!
Nice since last year I lost 90lbs I'm now 170
Yeah but I think the difference is that fat never comes off in one condensed area. It would be like if you melted that pound of fat and then spread it over your body like butter on toast. Thats why you feel like you don't look any different with 1lb fat loss.

Fat isn't toxic. It's a source of energy. It's only bad if you have it in excess.
ive lost about 8lbs of fat and i cant really notice much difference but this really helped me know how much i really am taking off my body
the 60 pounds I lost seems like a lot more now lol.
I was thinking of having a some sweets but now i've changed my mind...
thank you so much for keeping me motivated! I was so disheartened with a 3lb weight loss this week. now I'm ecstatic. 😊
Aw don’t be crazy! 3 lbs is great. Hope you’re happy and healthy.
I lost 25! wow, I'm so glad I watched this video because it made me appreciate my weight loss a lot more.
Fat isn't actually toxic, it's just the way our bodies store energy. It is disgusting but it's not toxic.

that means I don't even need to lose like 5 pounds a week to look good in 1 month loosing 1/2 pound a week is amazing enough
I lost about 35 pounds from 6/28/16-still on the diet
So I lost 8 pounds. It has been since January so I am not losing it fast but at least I am losing it! I feel better about losing that fat after seeing this video. Thank you Doctor!

I lost 10 pounds (I started at 170 now) since I started trying to lose July. I was disappointed. Not anymore!
Very helpful and motivating , thank you!!

Fat is a toxic substance. The numerous articles that show it increases the risk of various diseases are innumerable.

Great info.Looking at just the one pound strip makes it feel more of an accomplishment, than something to get disheartened about.

so just buy 5 1-pound vats of fat and combine them…DUHHH!!!
haha, I thought the same thing while he was saying that.
I lose 5 and half pounds of fat this week

You're only slightly overweight with that, don't be too hard for yourself. But yeah, keep exercising, but remember: you can't outrun a bad diet.
I'm so glad I saw this. Really. No more complaining for me.
Thank you. Exactly what i need to see on Christmas week to continue loosing at holiday time!

why did you feel the need to comment that comment is already done im over it
Steve O is now a doctor
He looks like my programming lecturer lol
I have around 40lbs to lose.. But I'm nowhere near the size of those objects you're holding up! Why do they look so big?
The liquid 1 pound seems so much smaller than all the other examples....
Thank you, this was very inspirational! I can't wait to shed my first 5 lbs!
That just made me feel better

Man I just lost 51lbs. Can't imagine what that looks like. I still have 50 more to go. But impressive.
thank you my boyfriend to me i loss about 5 pounds of fat after i asked him and i got pissed but now i see so thank you he is a good man and i am going to make it up to him to night o ya
I'm 200lbs. What does that look like
WOW. So, I feel a lot better about myself, finding out I apparently cut out twins from my body. (Especially because I thought the alb chunk of fat was more like what 5lbs looked like...] Thanks for the video! This has been my ego boost/motivation for the night!
Inspirational and funny as hell!
I'm loosing weight RIGHT NOW BRUH
That’s a lotta damage
this video gave me a great wake up call foreal thanks for enlightening how much one pound a week rly is because i am never motivated to workout for a week just to lose one pound lol i feel enlightened now
This guy's weight loss strategy: get QUITE high on cocaine for days on end.
Water fast and excercise fasted
If I lost a pound every time he says 'it's quite disgusting' I'd be thin rn
Thank you, I needed this.
Thanks. I needed to hear this. I will press on!!!
I know that I am at least 100 lbs over weight. If I stacked 20 of those 5 lb chunks it would be as big as me in total.
Great video!
i mean i dont expect a drastic change but i should at least see some or a lil change
Quite.
I say this because for like 3 years. I smoked weed, and quit cold Turkey with no scraving for it or anything, I did the same thing with my favorite snack potato chips ( cold Turkey and no scraving's for them) continued next comment section )
SINCE WHEN DOES ARM FLAB FLAP IN THE WIND!
About 10 pounds of that is glycogen stores and water weight though.
Very informative, thank you.
0.9g vs 1.06 is the difference i think? The volume difference between those looks much more than ~20%. Is fat "fluffy" ? (for want of a better word)
Hey Getty, it's not the fat itself that's toxic, it's the inflammation and hormonal imbalances caused by the fat that is toxic. Thanks for the question!
I'm confused-I've lost over 60 lbs and i don't think i was 60x those strips in size or 12 of those 5 lb'ers. I have a hard time believing thats to scale
Well, you guys need to realize it's water too.
Braden Smith no, no it is not.
yes it is when you're overweight like that people tend to eat foods that are really high in sodium which causes the body to retain water. The body will also retain water if you're not drinking enough. (by enough I mean over a gallon and a half a day)
not enough to make that kind of poundage difference....yes water is retained, not enough to make a difference in either of our inquiries
skippy18244 well maybe his-but I've legit lost the fat...and I don't see it equaling these
you are so funny! love the video!
what you neglect to mention is that theres a difference between weight loss and FAT loss, could just be losing glycogen, muscle, water, hell even feces.
i just lost 9 pounds 😄
Alex-• 10 Years ago keep it up. Wishing you the best
He said the size of an infant not the weight of an infant. Im pretty sure he knows how much an infant weighs.
I lost one pound in the past week. So proud of myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video!!!!!
do not call fat toxic, you need it to live
This is just fat though...when you lose weight, you're losing more than just fat. That's why measuring your body fat percentage is more important than just looking at numbers on a scale.
With water fasting you should be able to lose half a pound of fat a day. It takes about 3 days to get into the fast though, so you can't count that. A few weeks fasting should work. I suggest you study up on it though. Supplementing with the 7 electrolytes without any non-mineral chelators would be adviced to prevent refeading syndrome. Also, when you eat your first meal your body is very sensitive, especially to carbohyrates, which can be very dangerous called "refreading syndrome" which has killed some people. The wisest thing to do then would be to not eat a carbohydrate meal first. Eat a ketogenic meal first. So, eat pork belly, which is 90% fat, which is what you were eating off of body fat while you were fasting pretty much. So that should be an easy transition. You can lookup how to make magnesium carbonate water using milk of magnesia and carbonated water.
***** I did it and fasted 7 days. Very low energy and had to stop. I recommend if you do it only do 7 days and do it multiple times with long breaks in between or use another method. Unless of course the person has diabetes or is obese or very fat, then going longer can be considered.
Sounds like you lost a ton of muscle from your idiotic diet
Zachary Montoya No, I don't think so. Dr. Jason Fung's blog talks about fasting and muscle loss. As long as it is a complete fast little muscle mass will be lost. Only constant calorie restricted feeding would cause a loss.
damn and i was upset because ive only lost 11lbs in two months :/ well 11 down 45more to go
hey man, thanks for the video, its motivativ me to lose more weight now seeing how much 5 pounds is!
i lost 5 pounds and thats a lot of fat so how come i still look the same?
i need to lose like 5-10 pound before i start bulking i am 5'8 152
Good stuff, thanks bro!
I'm uncertain, is it QUITE DISGUSTING?
Fat itself isn't toxic, excess fat (specifically adipose tissue) is very toxic.
Excellent video, thanks
