    I began a bizarre diet exactly 28 days ago. I weighed 221lbs on day one. I only eat one meal a day and have to finish it in 20min. All I allow myself is as much Salmon and Tuna, in water, as I can consume plus a desert of 5 Brazil nuts or 7 macadamia nuts. After 28 days I weighed in today at 201.

      Congrats.. Just fyi, accumulation of mercury in Tuna is very high, also if it's not wild caught salmons you're eating lots of grain fed, farm salmon with colorants... just check it out.

    For everyone confused in the comments, I think you need to realize there is a difference between losing a pound, and loosing a pound of fat... This equation is a pretty precise showing of how much pounds of FAT we can lose in a day based upon our body fat percentage and etc
    You are able to lose more than 2 sometimes even 5 pounds in a day, but these are not all pounds of FAT, these are just dropping pounds. Hope this cleared up anyone’s confusion

      I just had my newest body scan today at the gym and it said I lost not just more weight in fat but had lost 2poumds in muscle. I have dropped about from 215 to 162 . I did not notice it going on until the heat wave we just had. Now for the first time in my adult life I am sporting a half shirt and my dream jeans are falling off . I posted about this and went off about the world but just wondered what does the muscle lose even though I have been doing more of my form of working out over the last month then I have in 28 years plus so why would I lose muscle?

      @@heatherwright3953 If you lose fat and you are on a diet you also lose muscle! It's a survival mechanism from our body to lower the calories you burn. Muscle is active tissue and it increases your metabolism and the calories you burn while moving thus the body when it burns fat also gets rid of some muscle! It's a natural physiological process that even bodybuilders on tons of drugs and steroids cannot avoid!

    Interesting -
    I’m at 7% 167 Pounds, and a good cyclist.
    I gained 2KG of fat recently, and done a super cut. Cycled 100k’s 3 x In a row with a caloric expenditure of about 9000 .
    Maintenance was 2000 at the time granted no physical activity.
    And I was consuming 2000 ending each day. Meaning I was in a -3000 deficit each of the three days.
    I went from having no abs at rest to being extremely lean from this cut. Obviously water weight would be a help as-well but there’s no way I only lost a pound and a half. The change was extreme. I believe this concept applies to perhaps maximal weight lost without loosing muscle, but undoubtedly super cuts like this change my physique extremely quickly

      Yeah, I agree. This does not sound right. If the body is in an energy deficit. It needs to get energy from somewhere. Why would it limit the fat and start targeting more precious resources?

      @@ElijahScott10xtechnically muscle isn’t seen as a precious resource in comparison to fat. Muscle utilizes energy just by existing, and the body doesn’t like that. It would much rather get rid of a source of constant spending energy, than it would putting energy in storage for later use

    Great video! However I would be interested in knowing what general level of physical activity is required to meet or approach these levels of fat loss for each of the people in your examples.

      Calorie consumption is the deciding factor. 80% of weight loss if contributed to the food we eat. So if someone is inactive but consuming an appropriate amount of calories based on their BMI, that person will lose weight. If someone is consuming above the recommended calories. That person would gain weight or would have to compensate with exercise to meet the output. Someone with a high BMI can have a higher than normal caloric intake and still lose. The less someone's BMI is the less calories they'll have to work with when it comes down to losing weight. So weight loss from physical activity isn't really significant enough unless you're is trying to lose that last 10-20 lbs.

      If you do omad 1 meal a day at 70% of your calories burned that day you would probably achieve your max fat loss safely. This works for me. Not a doctor though so just my opinion.

    When I was a young man I could lose 2-4 pounds in 24 hours but that required like 8 hours of working out. Not sure how much of that was water but when you're trying to make a weigh-in you just do what you have to do.

    I’ve just been eating zero carbs and lots of fatty red meat and dropping a pound per day with no hungry cravings. It’s so easy. Going to go to the gym later. No pre workout. Just eating my steak afterwards at some point

    I simply did OMAD, the end results was a total body weight loss of 39 lbs / 18 kgs.
    Not fooling myself it was ALL fat, it was fat, water and muscle.
    Weight training helps to preserve / limit muscle loss.
    In places like the upper arms, I added muscle - the girth in the upper arms increased, ( also became firmer ), albeit not by much - but I ended up with more than I had before.

    So hypothetically speaking if a person was to create this total deficit per day they would lose that max number on average?
    Would it matter if the deficit was created through fasting or through calorie intake reduction?

    So, with the final result in the equation, are you saying that is how much your body is losing in fat a day; not taking eating or exercising into account? So say in example 1, that person eats 1000 calories, then burns off 1000 during the day from exercise, they would still lose about 1.08 lbs of fat? Thanks!

      I don’t think so.
      This is only the amount of calories available in a pound of fat.
      You need to calculate your basic calorie needs just to live.
      The calculation only tells us the amount of calories available to burn. You still have to burn them. This is just the science of that equation.
      Now you need to figure your base caloric needs that your body needs to support itself.
      Technically if you ate no calories and did no activity you would only burn the base amount, not this calculation. Obviously you can’t not eat.
      You need to take calories needed to live then add your calories from activity and that will be how much you burn.
      So if you need 2500 just to stay as you are and you reduce your intake to 2000 thats a 500 deficit. Then if your daily activity burns 500 calories you are now at a 1000 deficit.
      That would mean in a perfect world you burn just over 1/3 of a pound because 1 lb of fat has 3500 calories and you are in a 1000 deficit.
      Now you can do the calculation from this video to find the max calories stored in that pound of fa that you can lose. If that amount is 2000 then you are only tapping 1000 from your deficit. You could cut more calories and/or increase activity to up your deficit and tap into that daily potential from fat stores.

    Awesome information! So walking whilst in a fat adapted low insulin state sounds like the way to go.
    I lost loads of fat by not eating Tues & Thurs but eating normally the rest of the week.
    I was going to do this again but with this info, I could with walking 10k+ steps, and eating low carb, get into a 1500Cal deficit whilst keeping my protein good and use my body fat to make up the energy deficit. This sounds doable..

    Great videos! I just SUBSCRIBED. So what are you saying is, If I'm Example #2 (1575) I would have to get into a calorie deficit in terms of eating less to add up the other 2,000, in order to create the 3500 kcal loss per day that example 1 has??
    And that would have me losing 1 lb per day?

    I just watched another scientific video on the subject that said conversely you can gain a pound of pure fat in one day from overeating, which I have done lots of times. But the most you can lose is less than half a pound. Seems unfair.

      they did a study on this and it's not possibly to gain one lbs of fat in a day... you just FEEL like you did because you look at the scale the next day and you're like crap I went up a pound. But often that's not true, it's just the water or the food still in your gut or other factors. So yeah while it is certainly easier to gain weight then lose it, it's not like you can eat just some two burgers and then be stuck with a new pound :p

    Thanks for good info!! There is a calculator you can use to determine how many calories you can eat to maintain current weight. The tricky thing is one needs a fat # using a fat pincher tool (??😂). I don't have one of those so I always feel like I'm guessing

    OK, I was 312lbs 3 weeks ago... today I am 297... on an extremely low cal diet eating fruits veg during day and some fish spaghetti squash sweet potato and some yogurt at night....... my goal is 210lbs what I was in boot camp.... when i get down so far, you said the fat cells are emptied and need to surgically removed. so what is the ratio of weight on a fat cell??? 70% fay and 30% cell wall?? 80% fat and 20% cell wall? Because Im interested in finding out how much weight will never come back off???

      This disproportionate weight loss is the reason for shows like "The Biggest Loser" to have rules on percentage of weight loss not just total weight loss.

    This sounds legit but the study must really differ from person to person. When I prepped for a show I lost 20lbs of fat in 8 weeks which would have been ~1,250cal/day in fat loss vs ~700 which this rule would contend. As well, that 20lbs was basically the last 20lbs I had left. I was about 4%bf when finished. So this limit is certainly not a rule across the board.

    the plan gets rid of body fat by getting rid of water weight. My question is how much is too much water where it affects your loss? In one video you mentioned 75ish ounces of water of day is a goal. Before watching these videos I was under the impression that a gallon of water was the ideal amount for your body.     I think the body becomes more efficient at using the fat it burns over time. Maybe a heavier person burns more because the body isn't efficient (used to) burning fat as fuel. Or is it because a heavier person just needs more calories maybe. I'm not sure but as a certified fat guy, I like the mathematics here.

    If I am 200 lbs 10% body fat and If i dont eat carbs. That means 200 lbs * 0.1 * 31 = 620kcal from fat. Where do I get extra 1400 kcal?

    Interesting. So, let me get this straight. You're stating that in your examples that a person weighing 300 lbs can consume a maximum of 3780 kcal per day while expecting to lose a maximum of 1.08 lbs per day and a person weighing 200 lbs per day can consume a maximum of 1575 kcal per day while expecting to lose a maximum.45 lbs per day? Thus, the calories would need to be continually reduced while the expectation of amount of body fat loss per day would need to continue to decrease with each pound of body fat a person losses. Is my understanding of your theory correct?

    Wait are you saying that if you're the person on example 1 who weighs 300 pounds. All you have to do to lose that much is to do nothing because you're so far? I don't understand how does this work exactly? Doesn't metabolism play a role in this? Do you have to exercise to hit these daily limits or are we just calculating bmr?

      So, this comment is 2 years old; have you gained any knowledge or wisdom to share on this point?
      My understanding is that exercise is very useful for improving muscle and stamina, whereas body-fat percentage is more determined by diet.
      Anecdotal, but during covid shutdowns, I lost ~60 lbs. while working from home even though my activity levels plummeted, and it seems to be because my work-food-staples (high in carbs and seed oils, especially for breakfast) were largely replaced with things like bacon and eggs; lots of higher quality protein prepared at home with animal fats.

    The maximum burnable fat calories resembles BMR calories, assuming this represents a 24h fast. Say half hour of fasted cardio was added, would the amount of fat burned increase? Regarding the study, i assume "moderate activity" means it doesnt take exercise into account, correct?
    im 33% body fat but fit into a small size shirts with a bit of room to spare. skinny fat, haha! This calculation is valuable, thanks for showing it.

    Since there's a limit to how much energy you can use from 1lb of fat then somehow that relates to a limit that we can lose? Makes no sense because we have other fat we can burn besides the 1 lb.

    We had a heatwave as most know . At the first day of it I crashed for 3 days unable to do anything . I could not stand the food or water I just slept. I as a kid lived out of my store being the side and back yard . Then came boxs of " food " . I went from being able to do full standing back flips to over weight in no time as a teen and was found to have manic depression so in came the pills. I lost weight for the first time ever . Then the pills made me worse so they went away and the depression came back and life steamrolled everything and next thing I know I am now 45 and was weighing 215 . Now here it is the end of the same year and all the sudden since the heat wave I have cut sugar out and started smoking pot which should make me eat all the time but doesn't I am not 162 and my ideal weight for my age and size is 130 ish. I drink only water like 2 times a week I do juice but even it is part water because it is to strong . I have lost 2 pounds of muscle tjat is new news . I flip a tractor tire almost every day and lift gallons of water everyday my workout is what I call full body lifts wich is in controlled levels of lifting and lowering slowly with only your sholders on the ground. I refuse to see a doctor because I just watched the hospital kick my husband out after 3 hours of them leaving his internal hardware screw sticking out of his knee . They left it open to air for 3 houres which could leave to it getting infected and killing him not to talk of the sickness it takes to tell a person in that spot hey our sergeant will not touch another orthopedic doctors leg . He told them to just take the leg it has been only dead weight for 6 years . They gave him a rap and a pad and the rest of the knock off med grade Neosporin and sent him home stull with the screw sticking out . Then the doc that did all the work said they do not take VA insurance so he can not see him without CASH . Got to get that new pool or car. Well VA took him in to at least take out the screw and maybe take the leg off which only about 23 % of people that lose a boby part get a replacement. Thats what I read . So his odds are not grate. When private doctors will not take the only insurance a veteran can afford lets just say population control is on the rise . So now I have just faced that he has a blood clot filter western medicine put in and never took out so it is unable to be removed now and parts of his life saving hardware is trying to kill him amd I am losing masive weight fast and now muscle mass. Anyone want to talk about some REAL stuff that REALLY hurts ? I have a life long supply the world keeps supplying onto my sholders and I would love to throw some out into the world I used to do thibgs like cleaning up fishing line out of the low times at the lake . I would clean out a trash bag at a time. I ceared for others my entire life and my husband sacrificed his first wife and baby and also most of his bodily functions for this country just to watch it all set its self on fire from the inside. I had been lower my food intake but now I just do not think anything matters anymore. All bad needs is for the good to stay SILENT. Well I say " I forgot I was a BAD BITCH . " I remember now though . So the gloves are off world because you keep taking everything I love and braking all the big rules so why should I fallow any of them big or small ? I wach things like how my local free " news paper " at the gas station no longer knows how to use a period ANYWHERE. I see how cops flip the light on then off again when they get threw the light . Also headline in that same free paper saying our local sheriff got busted for stealing 10,333 dollars of tax payers money. " Gas passes fast in a small town . " Can not pass fast when big city eats small town up for breakfast. Most important meal of the day . Growth hormones and sugar and protein feeds cancer. What does that leave in the current " food " supply chain when china has a contract to get all of our good veggies and we get trash unless your rich then you get the good uv protection on you car as a exclusive debt holder a high credit psychopath . They get the good salads 🥗 with chicken that has a back story about as real as the weed I get that says a unknow scientist developed in a lab somewhere is real . Im just a chick that has nothing left to lose so if anyone has anything stupid or mean to say well please be happy to just NOT . If you have something useful I am all down . I do not know if I reset the settings to not reserve responses or not. Well lets see. This has been a super long super mean life time . I have done all I ever set my mind to . I have no need to feel anything for anyone or care about others feelings anymore . He left like a houre ago and my body scan was a few hours ago so I am dealing with a lot fast alone because this world sucks and is not my world at all . To the youbg I only say this is not the world we tried to leave you. " We did not start the fire. It has always been burning since the worlds been turning . " We wanted you to have what some of us lucky ones had eat out of your yard not a box . We wanted you to know hard work means you did your job and now you can rest for the night . We wanted you to be able to stop at a realistic age and get your nap you earned . But the truth is we wanted good and that never goes unpunished. I am so sorry that GMO is all you will EVER KNOW . I once loved to write and was told by a man I respected that had multiple degrees in multiple things including the English language hear my poem spoken and tell me It was really good with a look that only comes from shocked . I am a high-school drop out with dyslexia that dropped out to raise my daughter at 17 . So I had to teach myself everything . So much I will never know but I have seen so much pain that I do not think there is a coming back from it and even now it still keeps coming . I am going to smoke a sleeping joint and watch 2 broke girls again for a millionth time and act like my husband may not die alone in a VA hospital just like his grandfather did his was of old age though. Oh also no comments about spelling or grammar from the peanut gallery thanks I have been hit with that endless whip to many times and am just done with it . My dream pants fall off with every step I take . Rock On yall.

      It certainly does not. you need a solid plan to make sure you are losing a majority fat (although some muscle loss will always occur)

    the amount of fat you can lose is only relative to how many calories you can burn from movement above your bmr if you fast -- this equation makes no sense

    Searching can't find anything on it so asking everywhere. I am on a 1800 calorie a day diet. I hit that religiously every day. And my daily never changes. 1 week lose 0.5 pounds next week 0.3 pounds 3rd week 4.8 pounds . I wanna lose 1 pound a week I either get up to 0.5. A week at 1800 then random almost 5 pounds if I go to 1900 cause of the random 5 ponds I lose 0 the next week

      You might have had the "swoosh" effect that last week. Its where after dieting for a while you body lets go of alot of water weight that it was holding on to.

    This does not sound right. If the body is in an great enough energy deficit. It needs to get energy from somewhere. Why would it limit the fat and start targeting more precious resources?
