she's as close to perfect as any human in history, but not literally perfect. 2:02 - the f# and G did not sound cleanly. and there were several *barely* out of tune notes, difficult to detect at that speed.
This performance to me is perfection. No accompaniment, and just her solo playing every note so clearly and perfectly. The intonation, clarity, phrasing, and everything else is out of this world. Also, love love love this dress! So elegant.
@@gueue5937 Perhaps you already know this, but she actually studied German during her schooling. Her pronunciation of Bach was just the beginning of her abilities in that language:)
Correct placement in the bow, flexible right fingers/ wrist, relaxed forearm, dropped shoulder, catching momentum from each bow to the next, proper speed/ pressure distribution, and following the musical lines. Guarantee your right arm will not be in hell with the above.
Imagine that, for a moment in time being at the centre of the universe at that very hall. And she completely aced it. What skill, talent and nerves of steel.
I am so glad I have lived long enough to have heard this most remarkable young lady play. The precision, the incredible accuracy of that concise and prolific technical ability. Combine that with the passion for the music, and you have the best of those I know.
This is the London promenade concert season.... dress by the orchestra is not so strict, nor is the atmosphere in the hall which is packed with the young generation. The way the audience in the Royal Albert Hall listen with such attentiveness is in itself a phenomenon, and is repeated year after year, decade after decade.
Her face at the end like "yeah, clap and bow you mortals" That's just 2 mins and the amount of notes is just wow. Props to her brain and all of those who do that.
I’ve had the privilege of accompanying some truly accomplished soloists (though not Hilary Hahn). The string players in the orchestra typically admire them; they’re not jealous.
This is remarkable. I love this presto and she does everything so well. Every time I listen to another Bach piece of hers I'm continually impressed. The dynamics, her bowing, attack, intonation, I love listen to her interpretations. ~JSV
I bet each of the violinists in the orchestra knows every note of this sonata, each of them must have painstakingly perfected it over hundreds of hours of hard labor. They are the ones to judge and admire this performance and I think they would unanimously agree it is top class.
Hilary can play damn hard pieces, I doubt that the other violinists could do that on stage. The presto is pretty easy compared to the "Erlkönig" she performed once.
I'm not really sure tho. The guy directly behind her (at the end of the video) also looked super salty at first. But at the end he clapped and he also squint his eyes, which usually happens when you smile.
Always a girl, I love to hear her play, it is paradise on Earth. THANK YOU, beautiful artist / girl / woman. Dream of the soul ... Never let age rob you of your youth and energy ,,, If there are beings that should be eternal, for the good of the world, it would be without a doubt Hilary Hahn. I am in love with the art that emanates from your soul. I can say no more. !!!
I'm just now getting into classical and this sounded pretty good to me. I'm starting to learn classical pieces on my 6 string bass, I'm on Debussy's Arabesque no.1
@WarholVirtuoso She started on an up bow, followed by bowing as it comes. So she didn't slur the first two notes, she just started from an up bow, then the second note, she did a down bow, then as it comes. (: I think she did that perhaps because she didn't want to accent the first note of every bar.
I am immersed in impression while listening to her incomparable performance . From Tokyo in the dizzying Megalopolis ablaze with neon Which national are you watching this video ?
Hilary Hahn is a great violinist in the tradition of past masters such as Heifetz, Oistrach, Kogan, Menuhin, etc. It is rare to see someone with such devotion to the highest excellence. I hope she plays till she's 90.
Hirary has good technique. Her position is not move. Chame sound.I like it.

@LucielStarz123 I stand corrected, and add: As long as she is inspired by this wonderful trove of celestial music! P.S., have you heard her recording of the Barber concerto?

now I understand how Brett and Eddy feel!
Imagine also having her standing next to you! 😂

I've never heard a Bach as clean as Hilary Hahn's. She inspires me so much!

@@chuckcornelius194 She’s definitely been practicing 40 hours a day to be as close to perfect as anyone can be!
@@chuckcornelius194I remember reading a paper analyzing intonation of various masters. Almost all went slightly sharp when playing very fast.
Her performance of this piece is my favorite version. I like her articulation, passion, and clean technique. woot!
+tokkibunni She's a sensational player!
Bobert Wiltshire as all the violins you heard on the subway sound like hers.
But the string crossings are easier, which is why she did it (clockwise is easier than anticlockwise).

How are you doing today my name is Bryan cooker
Her bowing is backwards from what is written in the music. That is difficulttttt. But Hilary Hahn can play anything :)
She sounded so nervous speaking, but as soon as she lifted her bow I was intimidated.
It's intimidating music, a bit like balancing on a tightrope, where any slip is likely to be fatal.
I thought she sounded the opposite of nervous.
she spoke full of pride and with a little smile because of pronouncing ‚Bach‘ like Germans do :o) she was such a star even back then ⭐️
@@gueue5937 Perhaps you already know this, but she actually studied German during her schooling. Her pronunciation of Bach was just the beginning of her abilities in that language:)
This piece... is right arm hell, and she executes it so flawlessly...must be 40 hours a day of practice

I like the way she moves, as if the bow has to catch up with the violin or the violin has to catch up with the bow. :-) Brava!
This is just such an amazing moment in musical history - how someone could play this with such conviction and confidence at that age is bewildering.
Why are some members of the orchestra well dressed while others look like they’re waiting for the bus? 🤔
Damien GC i was thinking the same! 2000’ fashion was wild apparently

She starts on an up bow. What kind of sorcery is this? Haha
Jarom Redhair omg yeah she starts up bow on a lot of her performances
It's not unusual on this piece since you want the second note to get more emphasis.
I just love the looks on the orchestra behind her - thinking “what have I been doing with my life”
wait what's the Orchestra doing if they don't play? there's not supposed to be accompaniment right?
lmao why does everyone say this about orchestras behind the soloist on camera. they’re just chillin lol
I'm so nervous because I have less than three weeks to memorize this whole piece for the audition that will determine the rest of my life
how did it go?
Surprisingly well. I'm now Associate Concertmaster of a professional orchestra, and I haven't even graduated high school!
