As someone who participated in that same early 80s punk scene that they're talking about, I can definitely confirm Dave's description of what that underground movement meant to all of us. And I used to go see all of those bands Sam Jones went to school with when they would come up to SF. They used to play the Mabuhay Gardens which was a restaurant by day and a punk club at night, and the 10th St Hall which was a former church. I even did the sound once for Dave's band, Scream, when they played the small bar I worked at, the Chatterbox. That early punk scene was an amazing time and I can't help but look back on it all through rose colored glasses.
That's the best part about growing up. Realizing that you can do whatever you want and that it's possible to do what you love for a living. Keep rocking on Dave!
Agent Orange is still one of my favorite bands of all time - alongside Front 242 and Metallica. It feels great to have such weird and wide influences. Foo Fighters is up there alongside Taylor Swift. I love being able to just walk into different live shows and feel that vibe change and just dance or jump around to whatever you’re feeling that day. Now to pull out my Agent Orange vinyls
I went to Orange County for punk shows at chain reaction. And then slidebar and now Programme. I ended up going to cal state Fullerton and thats where i started Stand up
That is the problem with this current young generation and music. They haven't discovered anything new, technically they've regressed and they don't have any sort of scene or group belief to belong too. It's sad how bad current music is. And don't come at me with "you just need to look harder!". The very fact that "you have to look" is proof of what I'm saying.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. This life isn't all there is, you can have eternal life, but time to get saved is very short. If you will confess your sins to Jesus Christ with a genuine heart and ask him to save you, he will save you and he will show you that he is real. God bless.

Same with the origins of Hip Hop. There's rarely a "plan". It starts off as fun and expressing some point of view.
“Holy shit. Look at what I just did!”
David sure seems to have avoided many of the pitfalls that come with fame. Still seems like a down to earth good dude.

My punk bands were: Teenage Head, The Butthole Surfers, Forgotten Rebels, Gen X, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, so on and so forth. Oh btw, still are!
So what
Punk only lasted 2 years. Ended in 1979. New wave then evolved which was very different to those who were there.
That's nice, Grandpa. Let me get you a blanket.
What about Hardcore?
grohl saying absolutely nothing for 2+ mins. "...we did things and made stuff from ideas that were ours...". dave who knew you were this brilliant!?

Is it even possible to not like Dave Grohl?
Very.
YES. If I hear one more thing about Dave Grohl on a Modern Rock station I'll go bananas.
