The transformation didn't begin when Potter came in. It began when Bloom came in in 2009. Arguably, Gus Poyet was a far more transformative manager than Potter. Potter stepped in at the right time of the project to take them further.
Tony has developed a knack of finding the right man at the right time. Every manager he's appointed has been a progression. Brighton's success is entirely down to his acumen and vision... and an unquestionable desire to see 'his' club scale the heights
Yep. They were really good 2 seasons ago and they only kind of fell off last season due to injuries. When healthy, they're a legit top 6 club right now. They're around Villa's caliber I think, meaning they can push for 3rd or 4th, with a dark horse chance at the title if Arsenal, City, and Liverpool stumble similarly to when Leicester won. I think Brighton is going to finish 4th this season if they stay healthy. They're honestly in a great position to stay very competitive for years to come if they sell some of their talent while their value is high and continue to make shrewd purchases with that money they reinvest. They seriously need 1 legitimate attacking star at a Son/Saka level that they keep and build around so they can keep some congruity with the turnover they usually have, but also so they can grow their fanbase to increase revenue (it's hard to bring in new fans if you keep selling your best players - need one that stays, preferably one that bangs goals in since that's what puts people in the seats).
Interesting but clearly an outsiders opinion rather than a fan closer to the club. A lot I agree with, a lot not so much. We are back in a semi rebuild this season, with a new manager and lost our most influential player in Gross, plus Billy G gone so we're still figuring out that CM birth. Baleba is now getting a chance and showing what some of us thought already, but the Matt O Reilly injury is a massive blow. So many players need game time after injuries last season so super hapy with the start to the season and I think we finish an easy top 10 but Europe might be a bit of a push Next season, with the manager having had a full season and 2 transfer windows, I see us pushing on again. FWIW, Danny Wellbeck, if not for his injury record over the years, we'd never have got as he would still be at a big 6 club. Also, no idea how you can say the Rice sending off was unlucky. It was stupid, but not unlucky.
Excellent summation of the situation as it stood when the vid was uploaded. Despite 3 draws which should have been wins (some of which can be placed on Fab's tactical naivete with his sub choices), we appear to have come out the other side stronger with returning players. Baleba and Ayari have been revelations in the last few weeks, and the new boys are settling in nicely. The real test of our development will come over the next 6 or 7 games, against opposition we 'should' be taking max points from, given the quality we can now field, but this is PL football.... and yeah... Rice deserved his sending off purely for his stupidity. I'm confident enough in the skill and desire of this squad and club to believe CL football is within our grasp this season... UTA!!!
The key to everything is Bloom and Barber. What other teams do not understand is that you do not need billions from American or Middle Eastern investment, you need actual fans that care for the club they run. What makes this passion doubly important is the effect of Star Lizard, Mr Blooms company. It is a data led organisation that knows everything about tens of thousands of players and managers across the globe. Taking this on, too often people with limited knowledge say the Brighton model is not sustainable. While Mr Bloom is involved, it is utterly sustainable. Here are two business models, you choose which is more sustainable. 1) Run a club at a loss almost every year, increasing your debt to the owner. 2) Run a club at a profit almost every year, paying off debts for things like the stadium. Many think the big six are called that, not for the clubs size, but the size of their debts. Remember both Spurs and Chelsea almost went bankrupt in recent past. That isn't sustainable business is it.
Rice had to go ! there was no other option . The Ref couldnt book or send veltman off for violent conduct , when rice had deliberately tapped the ball out of the way to delay the re-start. Arsenals time wasting is a well known tactic that comes with its risks.
Firstly which bit of the laws of football are you unsure of? Rice had already been booked for a dangerous foul that should have seen him sent off. then, on a yellow, he kicked the ball away another yellow and off. The game had clearly stopped he was delaying the restart it is a yellow card. There is the discussion on the Pedro one where it is not clear the ball is out and he is still trying to keep the ball in. Yes he could have got a yellow for this but I think the ref got it right. Caicedo did not cost 4.5 million there was a huge sell on clause which means his previous team actually got upwards of 30 million for him. These points aside yet another good analysis of the best run club in world football let alone premier league.
this aged very well after beating Man City, very proud of Brighton... Only more wins to come for the seagulls

Brighton played lovely football under Poyet

@@gjaxx I agree completely (lets ignore the season under Sami Hyypia though)
@@danstabler1819 I'd actually forgotten Sami... seriously. Thanks ever so much for the reminder
