hey folks, i hope if you are going through a tough time things get better for you really soon.. it's good to think of even small things that we would like to do and do even small steps to build towards getting there.. and keep on trying! thanks for your video, you make good points, and you are right that it helps to get away from things that drag us down and build up the good things that help us.. good luck folks! Best wishes from Rolland in Scotland
The math _problem_ presented here is ambiguously worded, which creates a _lost in translation_ effect (not _your_ fault, ofc). _Without compounding,_ 365 _percents_ would make you 365% better than the original (making you 3.65x better). We're not _compounding_ OR _exponentiating_ here. We're just taking an arbitrary value and adding 1% of said value to the total original over a given period of time (e.g. one year). Any compounding or synergistic effects would be calculated after the fact. _Hope that made sense._
Thanks for adding your perspective!! I believe there’s no an absolute right or wrong way to interpret this (if taking an approach outside of math). And you’re right 1% is an arbitrary value, what’s more important is how we define the change at the end for ourselves and willing to get a little extra to keep improving 🙌🏻😊
@@graceleungyl Ooh, well said! After watching your video (which is awesome) and seeing another comment on the topic, it occurred to me that what you say is exactly right. It's _not_ about whether we're adding, multiplying, or exponentiating some arbitrary "1%"; it's about focusing on small tasks habitually and building from that habit. Keep up the good work!
Hey Grace , really nice video , I was wondering if I could help you with high quality Video Editing and Complete RUclips management and help you grow your channel like I did for my other clients , let me know if that sounds interesting to you ??
Pretty sure your result from your calculation/formula is wrong. 365 days at 1% better is not 37% better... That 365 days at 1% improvement itself is 365% better (365 x 1%).. However, your 1.01^365 is resulting in exponential results. So, 1.01^365 IS 37.8; you are correct about that; however that 37.8 is a whole number.. Not a %. So if you want to change it to a percentage you have to multiply by 100 = 37,800% better at the end of the year. It really shows what exponential growth is. (Same as folding a piece of copier paper 42 times would supposedly reach the moon.) The easiest way to prove this once again is 365 days of 1% growth without any exponential growth is 365%... Which is already MORE than the 37.8% reported.
Thanks for adding that! If that's the case, it's really impressiveee, and I can definitely confirm that from the change I am experiencing! Can’t wait to see what happens when I hit 1 year 🙌 It's the small daily changes that matters 💪
Wednesday, May 22, 2024 ☁️🌥️☁️ Dang, all that math really sucks the fun out of this idea from Atomic Habits! 😕 Realistically, no one is going to be 37 times better at some endeavor in a year. I just started studying French, but I can not study 37 times more a year from now than I do today. 🇫🇷 The point is just do your best and try to improve here and there. 🧑🌾 At the gym, I try new exercises and new machines. 🏋️♂️ It works! I was sick with a wicked cold or influenza last October and I lost 12 pounds. Since then,I gained 16 pounds, and it is mostly muscle! 💪 This is similar to the Japanese concept of kaizen, make continuous improvements. 🗾 .
