I own the exact same 680 camera and the wide version 690 in the 65mm II version. Both of these cameras are super sharp and I"ve taken some of my best pictures with them. These Fuji rangefinders sold for almost $2,000. USD in the late 1990's and are a great deal today if you want the biggest medium format money can buy.
Damn, didnt know they went for so much when new. Best deal then in todays market.
@@NicosPhotographyShow I have an old B&H catalog from the late '90s and it has all of their prices from that "golden age" of medium format film cameras.
Hey I have a question about the camera. I have the 690iii and the film door seems to wiggle a little bit even when closed. Like I talking maybe 1mm of play but it results in this really plasticky creaking sound every time I grab the camera. Is it normal for the door to have play?
Looks an interesting camera, didn’t know they did a rangefinder 6x8 version.
Its a bit more rare. They made the 6x7, 6x8 and 6x9. Body looks the same just smaller pics and more per roll. Its a fun rangefinder for sure, sharp as hell
My understanding is that 680 version was only sold in Japan.
Hey Nico how do rate this camera? Is the lens good. IS the viewfinder patch clear?
Thanks for the video! Have a question for this camera: When shooting, do I need to double wind the film advance lever or only one time is enough? Thank you!
Thanks! Yes, you need to advance until you notice it wont let you do it more. Just dont force it.
Question. So after you've shot your last frame, you just keep advancing it onto the take-up spool? And how do you know if its all on the spool?
You do keep advancing. After a bit you will notice less tension. A few more just in case and its done.
@@NicosPhotographyShow Thanks. Love the show.
@@dsgregg thanks!!
Do you know if there is also a Wide Version with a 65mm lens?
I want to say yes, but never seen one.
@@NicosPhotographyShow Thanks for the answer. I did some research and actually found one. It is called GSW 680II and has the 65 mm lens. They were produced for the Japanese market only.
There’s a 65mm version in my local shop right now. It’s a mark iii and I’ve been debating grabbing it but doing some market research (not finding much). Plenty of info on the 6x9 that seem to be a lot more popular.
Is it true theres a way to get 10 exposures from this camera?
I'm intersted in the 670 version but figured i might same me some money and get this version with a bigger frame size and nicer aspect ratio
With this version you get the akward 9 exposures (its 6x8). The 6x7 will give you 10.
@@NicosPhotographyShow Thanks for the reply. I read somewhere you can get 10 frames by switching it to 220 when loading the film then switching it back to 120. Something like that
I’ll report back my findings once I get mine
@@red92diaz This would be great. Any news on this?
Does any one here, kills the first frame on a roll of film. The reason I aske is because when I began doing my own developing I always messed up.tje beginning of the roll trying to spell it onto the reel, got into the habit and never looked back. Just wondering.
Never heard of that habit. I do have issues once in a blue moon but not to the point of dumping a shot per roll. Thats an expensive habit.
Look back now. The first and last frames can sometimes get a bit artsy (flared, under/over developed, cut off..) but what’s the harm? My least favorite thing to see when developing is a blank frame.
Can you change lenses,
No, you have to go to the earlier Fuji G690 or G670.
Hi there I’m struggling to figure out does this camera have a battery? I just got mine and I feel dumb not knowing. It’s hard to find any info on this camera online.
No batteries.
How many shots does it yield with 120?
You get 9 shots with this camera.
Thanks!
