    If a Canadian says a tire is good in the snow, I listen maybe Santa Claus has a lil more experience with the white stuff, maybe!!! Ordered a set today putting them on Saturday, snow scares me, ice terrifies me !

      Snow doesn't bother me its the idiots who drive with no consideration and constantly make crazy maneuvers out of fear.

    For me, KO2 seems good on ice. Where I live in Moosonee, Ontario where the only time we can drive south is only during winters through an ice road over swamps and rivers. We don’t have paved roads here. Sometimes in the middle of winter it gets warm and when ice starts to melt then it’s mud we are dealing with. People get stuck with dedicated winter tires. BFG KO2 is the Swiss army knife of tires in my opinion. May not perform the best but it will get the job done well enough all year long. Duratracs are very good on ice too but KO2 has tougher sidewalls I believe. Very good review.

      These aren't really dangerous on ice, they're on par with every other all-weather tire on ice. They're much better than the Goodyear Wrangler highway tires this truck came with from the factory. I could never run a set of Duratracs, way too loud and unless they're studded they're no better than any other A/T tire in winter, never liked the ride of them either, the KO2's ride super smooth and make almost zero noise. I also really liked the Toyo AT2 Extremes I had on a previous truck. Thanks for the compliment & thanks for watching!

    Nice review. Most evaluations of tires and 4/all wheel drive are done in conditions unlike normal day to ay conditions. The streets you drive on here are indicative of everyday driving in winter climates. Most roads range from dry to packed to blowing snow in any given mile or two. The conditions are ever changing due to municipal plowing etc.
    This was very informative.
    Thanks

    Thanks...appreciate the review and sharing with others. Down here in Oklahoma been pricing out these tires for my '14 Silverado. Tire "discount" place recommended 285/55/20 @ $347 USD each. Did some online research and found others happy with 275/60/20 @ $276 each. That works out to $284 less...and this company is having a President's Day sale come mid-Feb ($100 mail in rebate). Soooo, works out to $384 total if I wait. Pricey tires regardless...but, worth doing research and watching videos! Thanks again...

    I bought these BF Goodrich TA All Terrain and had them installed on my 2008 Silverado LS installed on Mayhem rims, on 2010 it's now 2017 plus couple months slightly longer towards winter where as it was summer time when installed. They were quiet during hwy driving, as most of my driving was hwy. Plus, 2014 drove from British Columbia to Ontario had "Killer Traction" [Lasting 7-Years I could probably get throw 2017 upcoming winter as it just blew into Ontario Dec,8,2017 ]. Make note, every oil change at 500 I rotated all tires. How could I not be happy ???

    I have a RWD 1985 Chevy C10 Single Cab Longbed. Had original KO's when I bought it 5 years ago and replaced those with the KO2's in late 2016. Very happy with them in snow, but as you said, ice is another issue. Ice is ice, no matter what. Even studded tires are worthless in the thickest ice, they just tear into it hoping for concrete. What I have done with my truck is place 60lb sandbags behind the rear wheelwells and across to the tailgate to weigh the backend down a bit and it has helped immensely in really bad conditions. Even though my truck weighs 6000lbs unloaded, a few sandbags in the back help keep the weight on the drive wheels. Bottom line, it all comes down to the driver, knowing your rig, and making the right decisions in the vehicle you are driving.

    • @silverstacker177
      @silverstacker177 5 лет назад

      @chaosfactor333 - I grew up driving RWD vehicles (84 Chevy Impala, 86 Nissan 300zx, over the past 20 years) in very crappy conditions with "all season" tires, slippin and sliding but learning the limits of the vehicle and proper gas/brake/downshift techniques. Every once in a while I had to use chains (when required by road pirates). Only FWD car I ever had was an 85 Nissan Maxima 5spd and that thing did great thanks to the weight of the engine above the drive wheels and being able to clutch-brake around corners without locking up the rotors. And yes, the worst thing you can do is trust your tires to do all the work. That's why they call it a "vehicle": Definition - 3.) a medium through which something is expressed, achieved, or displayed; especially : a work created to display the talents of a particular performer. - In other words, the driver. Cheers bud!

      Silver Stacker how many bags and pounds were they? I will need to start doing that.

    • @silverstacker177
      @silverstacker177 5 лет назад +2

      @@Juan.Melendez - Well for my particular application, I built an "H" frame out of 2x4's that started in front of the wheel well closest to the cab with a center 2x4 dividing back towards the rear part of the wheel well closest to the tail gate. I did this to make sure the bags would not slide out of place during acceleration or hard braking. In fact, I build a full sub frame out of them to brace towards the cab and tailgate... like this: I=H=I
      I had to play around a bit to get the weight correct, so originally I started out with ten 60lb sandbags, 8 across the rear axle and 1 each behind the rear wheel well. I was still getting a bit slippy in the back so I put 4 across the axle and 2 each behind each wheel well, which improved the handling quite a bit. After doing more testing, I settled with 4 over the axle, 2 behind each wheel well, and 2 centered in the middle rear of the axle.
      That being said, it's not perfect, but it sure as hell beats not having any weight at all. You will have to play around with it, but more weight behind the wheels is far better than just weighing everything down above them. Hope this helped! -SS

      @silverstacker177 3 года назад

      @@DaciaDusterTrails - Hard to tell what is better, they used two different vehicles with different engines, gear ratios, weights, drivers, etc... Again, it's not the tire that gets you through the shit, it's the driver of the vehicle that knows what the vehicle is capable of and how to navigate it. Do those type of tires help, absolutely... but this is an apples to oranges test. Not one thing was proven.

We had to make a 100 mile run on the interstate to pick up my son and his gear when he came back from deployment, made the same 100 mile run back in a rainstorm without a hitch. They key here is the run back was at 70mph so we could make a presentation he was scheduled to get. Never hydroplaned, felt very safe. It's not like I STOMPED on it I just tried to get by quickly as the passing area wasn't very long. Very scarry to have fish tail while passing. I have a set 265/65/R17 E Rated KO2s on my Tacoma and live in Edmonton! I agree with a lot you have said about them. These tires are great on dry pavement and snow, but I did find myself spinning the rears when it was raining heavy during the summer. At first, I thought I wouldn't have to switch to winter tires, but unfortunately I am saving for a set. These tires act almost the same as all seasons on ice and I think what made it worse was the fact that the chemical compound the city put on the roads froze when we had the -30 temps along with the city scrappers scrapping off the snow. This is my second winter with these tires.

      Pretty sure wheel weight has a bigger impact than load weigh per lb by a large margin..... like imagine if you added 100lbs to each wheel vs putting 400lbs of payload in the back
