  • MMA Basics: Blocks
MMA has a unique style of blocking. The Boxing gloves in other combat sports can be used to cover holes in the guard that would be exposed without the larger gloves. This is the case in MMA gloves or without gloves at all.
Use these blocks to close some of those gaps.

@@resoluteboxing parrying is moving someones direction of their punch. so if their going for a jab its parrying it away from you. where this is catching your just stopping the punch, not redirecting it.

@@ephbombmadeit We know, but think again they are interchangeable.
To parry you must catch first, to avoid swatting motion and leaving you unprotected.
      Speaking from experience lol.

Parrying is completely fine as long as you’re not overreacting like you showed or using your lead hand

honestly not much you can do other then move out of the way. if you try to block low they will strike high. might as well block your face. keep distance and you dont have to worry about it too much. if they close the distance control their arms and clinch.

That’s not how you parry. You flick your wrist without swatting to make the punch go to a different direction.

You are still exposing you body bro. Also in a street fight without gloves you got to close the guard in order to catch the fist other wise it will slip through, i prefer practicing it this way so it becomes muscle memory am training for fighting not for playing fight

Am a bigginer but pareying just doesnt work. Even in drills where ghe opp go light sometimes punches still go through and in. Astreet fight fists are small target going very fast. Try purrying a punch from francis ngannou or miketyson

Parrying doesn’t work when you obviously don’t know what you’re doing. Practice more. You need to work on timing.

Hey kid you are still exposed to the body because you are standing totally upright, curve your body so you can block head and body at the same time, maybe learn this before making vids
