Looking forward to more of these. The slicing motion with the knife is EXTREMELY important. Simply pressing through with the knife to cut the plastic will make things worse more often than better.
Yeah this was a great tip! Like you said i wish someone had told me this or i had found some tips from somewhere because when i was a kid i just broke the pieces off of the tray so all of my gunpla had sharp pointy nubs from where they were connected hahah. I should go look for them sometime and see how they compare to my building now!
Hey, so as to the curved blade... how much pressure do you need to put behind it when you do the slicing action? I've ordered a couple of curved blades to try, definitely anxious to see how well these do over angled blades just pushing against the nub.
You have to get a feel for each type of blade, as sharper ones require less pressure. It's always best to go lightly until you're used to the new blade!
gundamplanet Oh man, I got my curved blades in today - and they're miracles. Maybe it's just a nice sharp blade, or the fact that it's Xacto brand instead of Fiskars, but the curved blade + just enough pressure = AMAZINGLY clean nub shaves. Not to denigrate the Tamiya knives you guys sell, but do you prefer #10 or #22 blades (or a different type of blade) for refills?
That's a good tip, but definitely doesn't require a full video. All you have to do is cut between the two bumps and then shave away the excess so they're both round. Done!

Straight build....just as the gundam gods intended....
I tryed out the tips on the gundams I just bought and it looks great thank you guys

Are there tips for Splitting the front skirt in the future?

Any tips for cutting clear parts?
I always just do exactly the same thing, honestly. If you make sure you're slicing smoothly, this method works on all colors and gate sizes
What's that green paper with measuring lines
That's a cutting mat, you can usually find them in the sewing department of any craft store and they're great for catching nubs!
So I was doing something similar with my tools all along.
I cut them off the runners with nippers, cut the rest of the nub with toe nail clippers, and then I sand it with 3M wetordry 1500-2000 grit sandpaper
What if I dont have a nipper is there another way to build gunpla
CrazyDino12 lol i even use nail nippers when cutting the pieces
I just use art scissors to cut out the piece and then nail clippers to get rid of excess plastic
how about a custom build work in progress that would be more interesting :)
Good tips, but just get God hands and sand the gate after cutting nubs with like 600,800,1000 and it'll be just fine.
Reupload?
Fixed up the audio a bit. It was only coming out of one side in the original.
Ah cool. Anyway, are those the sharp pointed Tamiya side cutters?
Projectzero X

We have some ideas... sorry it's taking so long, but stay tuned!
