Thanks for the heads up, backed Monster Kill, along with the add on for all the previous games, many of which look really interesting as well. This is my first pnp and will use it to put my new printer to good use.
I love print and play games! Not only is the concept good for creating Alpha/Beta games where the creator can potentially find a publisher, but we can enjoy them faster.
Plaid Hat Games have done a lot of explaining on why they chose crowdfunding for this game and it definitely has to do with them being separate from Asmodee. Still, I've already seen Wandering Galaxy pop up on local game stores here in the Netherlands for cheaper than the KS (not yet available for preorder but it shows the listing because they ordered the game). Without any extras it's not really worth backing. With VAT and shipping regular retail distribution just ends up way cheaper due to economy of scale. I do think it's cool that they added the script books for all three games as add-ons in the campaign. Those could be worth acking for some, although I feel the games are great partially because of the apps (as the narration is absolutely wonderful). For anyone only worried the app might not be supported in a far future, the script books will all be available digitally as PDFs for free. I think PHG is a great publisher; their current crowdfunding offer is just simply not worth the extra costs and I'm absolutely fine with that as it means the game is actually more widely available AND I get to support my favourite game store here 😊
Zoo Tycoon, reason for expense is the amount of meeple's your getting. A game of this type usually has half as many meeples for a 69$ pledge. So your paying for more meeples.
One of my partners backed Sirens. They had German videos out early (as they are I think) and gladly I am too, so I could check it earlier. The combo of free exploration with production chain and dice combat is neat, but dont think it would have been enough for me alone. But now I guess I gonna try it with the gf. I am still not entirely sure what the big selling point of Cults of London is. The only gameplay was a live VTT session and no how-to-play video. Only the theme/look is cool, but even than not tempting enough for me. also as info: yeah, its part of "Historica Arcanum", but each book/set has its own historic setting. So this one isnt based on anything existing before and also MUCH more fantastic than the others.
@@TheKingofAverage which is understandable. its there first board game and seeing those books. they dont explain it well there. marketing was never their strength. i can only speak for the quality of the books though. they are sadly dnd 5e supplements, but otherwise transport it into actual historic epochs (first is victorian instanbul, second set late medieval silk road (baghdad samarkand etc), newest set is the middle of the crusades (jerusalem, cairo))
Well, Aces & Armor looked interesting enough and not very expensive either (free shipping too). I don't have a quick skirmish game so... you got them a backer. Keep up the good work!
I have $7,500 tied up in outstanding games currently. Still looking forward to Lands of Evershade and Manic…hoping the rest of Dawn of Madness and Middara fulfill too. I can’t back anymore I didn’t expect to…there’s a point you have to say enough is enough lol
They have pseudo preorder/crowdfunding stuff for Ashes and other stuff through Covenant. They do monthly subscriptions, but it only gets produced if enough people preorder it, otherwise they stop producing the game.
The Zoo Tycoon expansion is expensive probably because they like money. People are way too kind for companies overcharging, and way too eager to find justification.
DC united has got me strangled. Never even played the United System but man DC gets me everytime. Im annoyed by the campaign decks (announced Sunday). There's a deck in there that requires you own the retail core box. That's BS, i back everything and have everything and I need to buy a second copy of the game to get everything? wtf.
Flames of fafnir should have been $100-$120 for the all in, And even then it would have been a hard sell for how light of a game it looks to be. $80 all in and I would jump on for the novelty maybe prices for this stuff has gotten that much but this seems way to expensive for what you get imo. Maybe we have been spoiled with games like mechs vs Minions, some cmon games, and I just got dungeon kart gold edition for $80 and that's a lot of game in a giant box. I think people are hopefully done being taken advantage of with all this fomo and absurd pricing.

That's what I suspected. It's a LOT of them and they are all printed.
I just backed Jurassic Feud on KS for my kids. It looks a hark back to Crossbows & Catapults.
