That moment when you realize Captain Pike is Cullen Bohannon from Hell on Wheels 🧐
Captain Pike played by Anson Mount is my favorite Star Trek captain. No competition really, hes the kind of person the world really needs right now. I can't wait to see Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Its going to be great.
Yes the greatest star trek captain and my favorite actor go bohannon 👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍💘💘💘💘💘
Seeing a damn uniform that looks like the ones from TOS has people more psyched that literally anything else in this trailer. Sit back and take that fact in.
Because people are manchildren for nostalgia.
lol
"We're on a collision course with a pulsar"
"Oh, what a relief, I thought we were all gonna die."
That right there my friends, is a *veteran* Starfleet Officer. She's seen some shit.
3Rayfire I think what she‘s saying is „Oh, what a relief! Now we’re all gonna die!“
Which is even more crazy.
Personal prediction: Pine becomes Doscovery‘s new captain (for this season) and she becomes chief engineer.
I actually think, it would be funny if Discovery has a new captain each season. Like Hogwarts has a new defense against the dark arts teacher each year or desperate housewives a new family with a shady mystery moving into wisteria lane every season.
Well, the original plan for Discovery was an anthology series, that would take place in different eras each season, so this might be a way of incorporating at least some of that without going all the way.
After all, real ships have pretty regular crew rotations as well.
"Weird is part of the job."
#Baloney ! You should really watch STOS & OSTSM !
Anson mount looks like he is actually having fun. He's accentnis little too much but hopefully rights itself in time. I'm loving the look of this season. Should be great.
Probably relieved he doesn't have to do more Black Bolt.
This looks great! The first season was awesome and I can't wait for this one. The only thing that makes me sad is that they made Lorca evil and killed him off. Despite how damaged and dangerous he was, I really loved that character. Jason Isaac's performance was really really great
I can't wait for Tig Notaro! :D!!!
I really hope the "Oh I thought we were going to die" is because she can get them out and not that she's just being funny XD
The Star Trek fandom is harsh 😶....I'm just gonna go to my corner and enjoy *both* Discovery and Orville
same hate was present for stargate universe, by far the best series in the franchise.
Kool just don't describe Discovery as Trek, because it's more like Dark Mirror, Dark Matter, Altered Carbon, in that it's a scifi show but nothing like Trek.
Don't forget to play with your toes. Its very relaxing.
They really are harsh. They'd eff up a wet dream. #STDiscoveryS2
Most fandoms these days have become toxic. Its this weird age of polarization we apparently live in, where no one seems to want any kind of middle ground, everything has to be "great" or its garbage.
At least, that is what the extremely vocal minority want to think. Those of us sane sensible people just want to enjoy things without having to pick "sides"
2:02 thats u.s.s.enterprise
I loved her when she said " Oh, what a relief~ We are all going to die"
Can we talk about how Pike and the Enterprise's uniform is superior to Discovery's?
Isn't Enterprise full fleet and Discovery's is Section 31?
Yep
FFS dude, google "Whom Gods Destroy".
Dayumm! Pike looks buff, handsome & Fly!! WHO IS THAT ACTOR?
His Name ist Anson Mount. He is a huge Trekkie himself and from what I can tell he's just as amazing as the rest of the cast.
We will start seeing more original crew showing up now, probably references to Kirk/McCoy/Scotty for season 3
This series is fantastic, its bold, it's got heart, courage. This is so much fun to watch.
The person responsible for teaching you to read and write should be water boarded until they beg for sweet release.
@@FRM101 talk about a wake up call
this looks like a step in the right direction, bringing back a bit of the more lighthearted nature. still a bit heavy on the action and explosions but baby steps. Everyone remember what made TNG and DS9 great.
"Remember what made TNG and DS9 great."
Great cast, good acting, and excellent writing. All things STD lacks sadly.
@@Trueflights obviously you don’t know of the qualities you speak about because this show exemplifies all of them, and then some.
@@brentgambrell if you're talking about Strange New Worlds, I agree. That show is great. This post was about the abomination that was Discovery though. It did get slightly better and more watchable in later seasons, but it was too little, too late.
USS Discovery is so much advanced technology compared to USS Enterprise. So how can it possibly be a prequel ? ;)
For the most part, it only looks more advanced. The in-universe capabilities aren't that much different. Meanwhile the Enterprise still has a faster standard warp drive, stronger shields, more powerful phasers, and MUCH heavier Photon Torpedoes (they were practically space nukes in TOS). its simply a matter of having better capability of creating convincing visuals today than in the 60's.
This trailer makes me super hyped for more of The Orville.
I loved the first season. I can't wait for the second.
research flat earth, space doesn't exist
man....goosebumps haven’t gone away yet, loved the ending of the 1st season. The Pike actor I recall from “hell on wheels” (colm meaney also starred). As a long time fan I can’t wait....Oh I do recognize that all access subscription is bs, I can do what I did with the 1st, watch it when they promote the free week after all episodes have aired!!
Captain Pike of the Federation experimental ship, U.S.S. Discovery.
Now that sounds amazing. 😁
oh damn with this music i remembered my old days playing tony hawks skateboarding on the first playstation
Loved the first season, I've watched all in two days. Looking foward to the next one. O/
Lenny Kravitz's Fly Away?
Yes
Excellent look at the new Star Trek:Discovery show!!!!! Looks like a great season!!!! Thanks for the look ahead!!!!
I remember when this trailer first came out i was excited for it
Hell yes my Space Dad aka Captain Christopher Pike is back baby. I want to meet him some day please.
Greenwood and Anson
space doesn't exist, the world is not a planet
It means "Fiction/fantasy Dad" I love my real Dad but I want to go to outta space
outer space = more continents on the flat earth
"OK we really need to get people watching this more than the Orville! Ideas people!!"
"Sir why don't we bring in someone from the original Star Trek who we can use that wasn't a major character?"
"Such as?"
"Captain Pike! He was the original captain of the Enterprise and we don't know a huge amount about him before he ended up in the chair other than what we learn in that one episode."
"Perfect! But we need some other convoluted plot hook with another character...."
"Link Spock to it somehow?!
"PERFECT!!"
You know this was set up at the end of season 1 right? The producers even said they knew how they wanted season 1 to end before writing season 1... Please go back to Orville comment sections
Local channel would be nice
Mitch Sure they did buddy. Sure they did. Did they also plan the massive tonal shift for season 2?
I want Janeway back
They already have more viewers than Orville
And now he (Captain Pike) has his own show.
Ya quiero verla!!!😍amo esta serie..
I really enjoyed the first Season! And I think Lenny was a good choice for Backgroundmusic :)
Do you know what version this one is?
What do you mean by version, Callan?
@@Star-Man as in which version of the Star trek franchise is this is this from the original timeline before Nero time travelled and changed history or is this from the changed timeline where Nero did change the past?
@@Star-Man and I was also asking about the song because I can't find this specific version of the song I keep getting a different one on RUclips
Well not sure about the song. But the USS Kelvin was attacked in 2233, and the battle of the binary stars was 2256. And this is after the peace accord in Paris in 2257. *But answering your question, ST discovery takes place in the regular timeline not the Kelvin timeline*
PLEASE don't use this music.... Orchestral is the Star Trek way. Orchestral does not date ( nor is it crap )
ok u old fart
It's just a soundtrack for an ad. It will surely not be used in an actual episode of the show. Relax.
I like your positive thinking !
Since Star Trek became an action series, Sabotage in ST:Beyond was ok, but THIS not the right music for those scenes. Not even in a trailer. You want to play it cool, CBS? Get new ad creatives, cuz this ain't it.
Oh come on. Lenny Kravitz is perfectly fine. What do you think they're gonna erase all the modern music by the 23rd century. You can accent Star Trek with current music and orchestral music.
R.I.P Star Trek (The real one).
I might be unnecessarily hopeful, but this feels more like the Star trek I know and love.
The only thing they will Discover is that the show should've been set after VOY and spent half of the effects budget on decent writers :(
THIS! Dear lord, why can't they understand this simple truth!???
Wow! You’re spot on about this!
Because you can't show off good writing in a 150 second long trailer. And bombastic trailers are all that gets you an audience these days.
If we want good stories, we have to go back to reading books.
+Kevin Schwab, Nemesis never happened because this is the alternate timeline created by Romulan time travel in the first Abrams movie.
I couldn't even get through the pilot for this "series" The klingons look like rejects from some hell based pride parade.
I think its a stunt to tie in the Discovery with TOS Star Trek . I wished that CBS would have just made a Star Trek series based on Capt . Pike with elements of the original , and the Discovery crew on board the Enterprise . It would have sold better to the Trekkies !
Is it too late to do this??? I'd be all over this idea. They could even cut the effects and prop budget in half and still create a better show this way..
john marciano Well, I have a sneaky feeling the producers are using season 2 as a pilot for a Pike spin-off series!
I don't think it's a stunt to tie it in - it was originally planned to be approximately 10 years before TOS. Harcourt Fenton Mudd, Sarek, and Amanda were all in the first season.
As far as some of the comments on "canon" on this thread go, CBS (which now owns the franchise; ironic, since they turned it down back in the sixties) made it clear that all of Star Trek - even the animated shows - were canon for this series, except for the Pine/Quinto moronic films. (And if anyone thinks that those films represent Star Trek... you obviously don't understand Star Trek, and likely never will.)
But I do wish they'd cut a lot of the special effects and the absurd number of executive producers so they can make a decent number of episodes on schedule. If they move at this speed for the planned new ST:Something or Other To Do With Picard, Sir Patrick Stewart will die of old age at the age of 105 before they get moving.
The solution is for the Orville to go back in time and take over the Discovery.
Can't wait for it...Love this show. Though DS9 will be my all time favourite.
Looks like a interesting season 2. Love the music choice
I feel sad for those who don't enjoy Discovery. Such a great show.
Star Trash spitting on the legacy of Roddenberry 👎🏼
@@callumbush1 poor you
@@callumbush1 What would you want them to do, Kill star trek and let it die with him?
@@SilverDeerCoding Star Trek is dead JJ the hack killed it!
@callumbush1 if star trek is so dead, why is picard and ST: Strange new worlds getting more seasosns.
Oh man, they're trying to sprinkle some more humor in now!!
I like both Discovery and Oroville!
I really hope they don't try too hard!
Good star trek always had humour. The problem with some of the stuff I see hear is that it's simple gags and isn't smart humour - it's movie blockbuster humour - which sucks.
Aquaman joins the crew aperently :D lol *Bless you*
I have to admit, this is one hell of a kick-ass type of trailer. LOL
I really hope they don't do the whole brooding, Battle Star Galactica-type series they had in season 1. I've watched every episode of every trek and this is first one I gave up without watching all of them. Bring back the episodic structure, keep the serial story arcs short (3 episodes max), explorer bigger themes than war, and you'll have a fan in me. Think about how good this series could be if the writers probed the ethical dilemmas just now entering mass consciousness - role of AI, surveillance, maybe some political turmoil in the Federation mirroring today.
i've tried to be objective and watch the whole season in netflix and got "????" all to the end..
eh??? since when klingon entombed their dead?
ehhh??? total physical alteration ala total recall?? even in genetic level??wut!?
...eeeh!? inter-dimension ala doctor who? mirror universe!?
but what really raged me was what the fuck is "spore drive" ?? spore are not act that way and mycellium are not the ones interconectted, it was rhyzome!
i'm thinking i am watching sci-fi and ends up watching a weird fantasy of magic in space...
They even stole that spore drive idea from a game. How low have they sunk and can it get any lower??
I don't care what some people say, I like the Discovery series and look forward to the next season! Same with the Orville season 2
Let me guess... soy boy, correct?
Onwards with the Orville, true son of Trek! Death to Discovery, corporate trash!
I think the first season had it strengths. Clearly its some sort of alternate time line they are playing with, but its not like they can come right out and say it, they wouldn't know it themselves. The mushroom drive thing itself is just stupid, but I tend to think the way they handled the "tardigrade" not sure what the bug was called, illustrated a very darkside of star fleet that eventually will lead to the OG trek and it's moral higher ground and then onto TNG where everything was all about the morality police up in there.
While I hope the spore drive goes away just out of the sheer stupidity of it, I don't think it detracts from the storyline that it is creating as a plot device.
LOVE the new take on the Klingons, very tribal, very brutal, very well done.
What I like about the most about the first season is the characters had... character... stories.. they weren't TNG bland.. they had actual deep nuanced characters. They have a lot of room to improve for sure, but they went lightyears ahead of the previous trek iterations.
2nd season is going to be good simply because Anson Mount is a god among men. If they get Common to do a cameo or even guest star in a season, I'm going wet my man panties and scream like a 12 year old at a 1 direction concert.
They just have to figure out how get the song Timshel into the episode and I might never recover.
I enjoyed it very much
Discovery is not a bad serie i would say its great if it was not for the part "Star Trek" Because it does not have anything common with Star Trek (ok space and starship:P)
A Rock Son in a Star Trek Trailer? Thats Awsome i love it !
how much you wanna bet we get to see the radiation accident that put Cap'n Pike into that weird chair
Amazing ending to S2! Can't wait for the 3rd.
After suffering through Season One I will be watching reruns of TOS and Next Gen from my own collection. I know how they end and I know I will not be disappointed!
Great. Seems more relaxed than first season. Let's hope!
Rocken roll music+Startrek= -JustAction movies-
The elevator scene reminds me of the Orville.
BRING BACK CAPTAIN LORCA....BUT GOOD LORCA
Yeah without Jason Isaacs, the show may feel lacking this season. I hope Pike can pull something off.
I hope we see prime universe Lorca too. Even if he's not the final captain and just has a few episodes.
I'm so hyped for this!
I think that for a trailer, this Lanny's song hasn't been more on the mark than now. I know that they won't use his song in the actual series, but for the trailer it was like a well fitted glove.
This was great, though I somehow have the feeling that everyone except Michael fits to the new lighter tone of the show.
This is a trailer that shows hardly anything towards the show. Barely gives any plot details and yet everyone is dissecting it and saying it’s gonna suck. We haven’t seen anything yet. We have plenty of unseen show to judge not just a 3 minute trailer
at 2:23 why does that alien look like one of the monsters from land of the lost lol
omg i laughed so hard in the last 10 seconds or so......................going to be a great season... im glad its different!!!!
Mikey Spock is back.. lol Poor Lenny Kravitz must’ve need the money
Lol yeah I don't think he needs it..besides money is money why not
This version is not about space its about two dudes making out cant wait for picard to come back
The same people will be behind that too. I do not trust them to not screw it up.
mayb this will be the show that wont put anson mount's name to shame. blackbolt really made him look bad, but he looks amazing as capt pike.
Who's here after the Captain Pike series has been announced?
Yes
1:24
We did the power of math people......High Five. Really? >.>
Whats the soundrack, I know its Lenny but what mix is it ??
I can't wait for new season :-O
I haven’t been this excited since the old Scifi lineup of Sg-1/ Sg-Atlantis /Battlestar galactica every Thursday night back in the day
Even though I loved those shows I missed the Star Trek franchise. So glad it’s back!!
It's actually not back, it's back in the Orville, just not in Discovery. Honestly you'd get more Trek from the game out right now than you would in Discovery.
The deviation from ST canon and the new Klingons make it impossible for me to watch. Even my fondness for Michelle Yeoh wouldn't keep me watching if she had a part in every episode. But I suppose it's some consolation that STD is not the equivalent of Stargate Origins. If you're also a fan of the SG series, you know what I'm talking about.
they ruined klingons...unforgivable
Pretty sure they've changed klingons before..? Their appearance isn't set in stone, it's a small thing honestly guys why are you all so fragile
Looks pretty good. Grew up watching the original series so I am all in on some new ideas, though the flipping spore drive stuff is a bit off if you ask me. Then again, it's Trek and I have enjoyed what I have seen.
Can't wait til it gets upgraded from underground internet thing to real televised show.
My criticisms of the show when the first announced it. The ship looking like a Klingon ship. Then it being on another subscription app, which I refuse to purchase. Now they are bringing the Enterprise into the story, I just wish it was it's own thing. Also to me the Shenzhou was a better looking ship, and I like Capt Georgiou better. She was more in line with the Picard's, Kirk's, and Janeway's etc.
Why did they kill her off? That was a disappointment...
It might be worth watching if it were some other 'universe' than Trek, able to go its own way and tell its own stories without the 'baggage' of Star Trek (and fan expectations). But would CBS get people to subscribe for such a series?
Not Star Trek...wonder if things will ever get back to normal again for this series...DS9 reruns FTW
Best actor in the last season was Doug Jones. He's teh reason I keep watching. I love his character.
I just want to know, who the hell thought this music would be a good choice for the trailer?
I'm getting vibes of the first trailer from Star Trek: Beyond.
Hmmm. Let me run through my emotions I felt seeing this.

Dude, get a grip on the lore already!
Would you ever hear someone say, "This is the power of math people!" in the old Stark Trek shows or even the new movies?
Has our level of wit and humour degraded?
Anson Mount’s greatest character/acting of ALL TIME is HELL ON WHEELS!!!!!
What happened to the captain on Vulcan
Why is the dialog always so weak and cringey in high-budget sci-fi? It's disappointing.
Because its about social conditioning and not telling a story.
IMO, the art of well crafted dialog was honed in radio drama, the dialog conveyed the emotion, tension, conflict and resolution. Words had to covey the taie. When "talkies" came about writers were writing for both radio and screen. Writers who evolved in the radio era weren't as dependent on special effects and visuals to present a story. Many times you can understand an entire old cinema story without seeing the video portion. As writers and directors became more focused on visuals dialog became less important. Specifically with Sci-fi whether the "organized body of knowledge" is real or imagined a good sci-fi writer needs to have some clue as to how to coordinate and relate whatever fictional science exists with the dialog. But sci-fi writers don't know science, and they don't need to know how to convey dramatic dialog in a story telling way. Thus we have;
Tilly: "We're about to hit a pulsar!"
Captain(x): "Oh no! Tell us what to do Michael"
-Michael vaporizes Captain(x), takes the helm from Tilly and presses the magic mushroom button and saves the ship just as the Pulsar goes supernova.
Admiral Picard: "Hooray Michael, but you were naughty so you're restricted from dessert."
Michael; "I'm sorry, it was the logical Vulcan spirit voice inside us all that made me do it."
Admiral Picard: "Oh, pardon I didn't understand it's a religious thing. You can have two desserts and a promotion. I apologize for misunderstanding.. What should we do next Michael?"
Michael: "We must understand the Klingons and give them chocolate, skin cream and minoxidil. shampoo"
Admiral Picard: "Make it so."
I want to get away...
To the orville
Yeaaaah yeaaah
But why? The Orville is trash. It fails as both comedy and science fiction.
I don't know, it is much closer to the classic Voyager-like Star Trek, than Discovery, and it makes me comfortable. I like them both for different reasons. Orville is '90s Star Trek with comedy. Discovery is a mixture of contemporary CGI-based action movies and the Star Trek universe.
The Orville is a better Star Trek show than this garbo. And it fails at neither you just don't want to admit that Discovery is the real failure lol
i guess the new season has got more humor content then season 1 .... loved it ...!!
the shot from 2.04 minute mark is from star wars the last jedi!Michael gets blasted back through a door into launch bay!
Last scene of the trailer says "I want to be Orville", like nothing else could say it as good.
No!!!

No...
oh fuck...
What no? This series is amazing
Yes
2 season cant wait.
WOW!!! Anson Mount (Cullen Bohannon) of Hell On Wheels playing Captain Pike??? OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!
I like this show and even the old shows had its times comedy where they introduced a bit of comedy into it, and if you watched any Star Trek you would know that. People moaning about that clearly have issues and need to see a doctor.
Right... the older versions had comedy, COMEDY i.e. something funny. This plays out more like guardians of the galaxy rip off. The funny bits were not quips but funny based on character interactions. The quips in this trailer could be said by any of the characters... it's also just not funny.
Either were Guardians of the Galaxy after their first film.. Keep in mind Star Trek is also older, so they were here years before that Guardians so if anyone is ripping anyone off its Guardians ripping Star Trek off..
STD started off weak, but ended strong. It’s a alt universe. I think they tried to deny it to keep the twist of the 2nd half of the season a surprise. But changing the Klingon design so drastically was a dead giveaway. I like the idea of a new Captain bringing new energy.
Orville started off strong, but ended weak. The TNG feel was awesome. But then the writing got lame and they not only regurgitated Trek episodes, but they ripped off other shows. Not inspired by, straight up copied. I’m not going to write it off though because they can still get it together and have a good season 2.
Actually what happened was they saw it was starting off weak and became worse so they threw in some old heads and the enterprise to try to bring viewers back but the damage has been done.
the1tigglet "the damage has been done" is an asinine thing to say, considering Star Trek's own history.
The Next Generation started off weak as all hell. Its second season wasn't really much to write home about either. It took almost three full years for Next Generation to finally find its working formula and become the gold standard it is now known as.
How much of Discovery have we had? Just over HALF as many episodes as TNG's first disastrous season... and you honestly thing that is enough to render a final judgment upon it? Especially when you consider that CBS had never made a Star Trek series before. Meanwhile Paramount had made four feature films (two of which still rank in the top 3 or 4 to this very day) and even they took three years to get a TV series right.
EVERY TIME a Star Trek show changed its approach, its style, its plot, and so forth, it was an attempt to bring viewers back. Why is that perfectly acceptable for those shows, but not this one? Its called LEARNING. Every show tries to learn from what worked and what didn't in order to adapt and grow. My gods, look at how many times Deep Space Nine changed its tone through its run. And it remains as some of Star Trek's absolute best, especially the darker episodes like "In The Pale Moonlight"
Perhaps you should stop rushing to judgment or succumbing to this instant gratification society we apparently live in today, and remember your own past before making such statements
And now they decided that this gold standard is no longer acceptable and made a poorly written fan fiction in tv show form.
Baul luaB Oh really? DS9 certainly broke from nearly every precedent TNG set, and it became an even better show. Following the TNG formula is part of the reason Voyager fell short, especially in its insistent "anomaly of the week" or "bad guy of the week" episodes. Being formulaic is not always the best formula. You have to take risks and try new things. Sometimes you fail along the way, but that is how you LEARN. Hell, just ask Picard
It looks more fun than the first season. The first season was all blood and grit. The instant teleportation thing was over the top too. I hope they incorporate something into this series about why they stopped using it.
I'm honestly so hyped!!!!!
I get the impression most haters haven't watched season 1. I was skeptical, but the show really exceeded my expectations. The finale gave me all of the federation warm fuzzies that the beginning was missing. Also: Saru is awesome, there's a mirror universe episode, a dorky ensign, and while the Klingon makeover was unnecessary - they didn't mess with Klingon culture which is the important part. The heart of the show is still Star Trek.
most of the haters have also forgotten that TNG has a poor first season as well, and its second season wasn't all that great either, but that show eventually became the gold standard by which all other Star Trek is judged. And this from a studio that had already had four feature films of experience (2 of which still rank in the top 5 trek films of all time to this very day) and still couldn't get it right for a couple years. CBS has no prior Star Trek experience, so growing pains and mis-steps were inevitable. It deserves at least as much of a chance as TNG had
though, looking back, they were saying TNG was the "death of Star Trek" and so forth during its first couple years too, weren't they?
It's too hard to watch. This same actress was on TWD and I just don't care for her acting style I guess. The writing (on Discovery)? Nah, I don't care for it. Why the captain let her first officer poke around the Klingon ship? Why they killed off the captain? Why this character is a first officer but seems like she has no idea what she's doing? You want to care but find that you can't --
...did not mess with klingon culture? oh boy...
The Orville is more charming and evokes the original series better.
Buhbye! No REAL Star Trek fan would say that.
Orville is corny!!
Good. Go away and leave us alone

Why not? Is classical and jazz somehow superior?
Classical and jazz in trailers...?
I don't especially like STD. The series tends to be overtly superficial to me and really meant to satisfy superficial pop needs. Some of the characters are okay. But damn, if the series with Pike is anything like how he's portrayed in the trailer than he's one of the best characters I've seen, including all other series. He's really got a "Captain Pike" vibe to me, and a real cool Kirk "swagger".
I really enjoyed season one....an entire season of crossed in the alternative universe from tos mirror mirror... I wonder if they'll continue that with other mixed realities/universes?... I find it well written and good characters. Is the "number 1" the same Pikes number 1 character we first saw in the original series? Makes sense to bring Pike in then.... I recall when TNG came out to mixed and harsh reviews, a fellow trek buddie of mine stated "I dont care if its trek or not, I dont compare and just look at it like another good sci fi series... once I took on that attitude I enjoyed it, and almost every series since much more. Good job CBS
black bolt talks! haha
Seems to me they are more concerned with top of the line visual effects and skimping on story creativity and continuity. Granted, the visual effects are incredible, but the magic that is star trek stems from its ability to cultivate the viewers imagination, make us see and our inherent human fallacies through satire and give us hope that humanity, for all its flaws and barbarism, may explore the universe.
From what I can see, STD is more flash and glitter than substance. Continuity is all off even considering the parallel timeline. There's too much going on with the series and nothing seems to be meshing.
TNG was no prize in its first season too. Discovery had its first season, and now they need to find what worked, what didn't, and mold future seasons into more improved versions, just as every previous Trek series has done. Hell, nearly all TV shows ever made have changed after their first seasons, and the most successful shows of all time still had poor ratings and poor episodes in their first seasons. M*A*S*H, Married... with Children, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, I'm sure I could name dozens more if I wanted to devote the time (which I don't) that started off poor, risked cancellation, and didn't find their footing until seasons later where they became some of the best television ever made.
Not saying Discovery is going to be the best Star Trek ever made,... but it deserves the opportunity to try. TNG took three years to start reaching its potential, so I feel Discovery deserves at least that much
What a tragedy! Using Lenny Kravitz music for a Star Trek trailer! Either get the Beastie Boys jamming, or go old school with the orchestra. Huge, huge mistake by the creators of Discovery.
Uh... actually... I can't think of a better pop/rock song for promoting Star Trek than Lenny Kravitz's "Fly Away". Hell, it would work for ANY spaceflight movie, and even a NASA History montage would be glorious with this song.
Is it the fact that it is a pop/rock song and not classical orchestral and jazz that is so upsetting? Hell, I remember people being upset that they used jazz in TNG at the beginning.
I'm just waiting for Picard.
01:47 nice they got tom criuse!
