I always liked how Earth humans (aka the Tau'ri aka the Fifth Race) were depicted in Stargate SG-1. We started out at a huge technological disadvantage but managed to compete on an equal footing with the Goa'uld through tremendous ingenuity and no small amount of sheer guts. And guns of course. Lots of guns.

Not to be be pessimistic or sound like I'm putting you down, but you do understand that the Ancients and the Alterans are technically the same race right? They were called Ancients till after it was discovered they came from the city of Atlantis, which in turn had them called Alterans or Atlantians by those of the SGC and a decent majority of the Pegasus galaxy.
Deberían de hacer una serie de los Alterans 3 temporadas de 20 capitulo cómo título SGC el comienzo. Finalizado el momento en que la encuentra Giza después la encienden en 1995.
The Goa'uld have encountered organized resistance from technologically advanced races. They dealt with those threats by nuking the shit out of them. And they would have done it to earth if the Asgard hadn't intervened.
And they tried to nuke the shit out of us as soon as they knew they could beat the Asgard, and we still chewed bubblegum and kicked ass, proving that our organized resistance is a little bit better than those worlds (let's not talk about massive plot armor and that little ancient base at earth shall we)
Yiffinity X To be fair, most Earths in alternate realities got crushed by the goauld. In fact, ours would have gotten crushed if Daniel didnt accidentally end up on an alternate earth while it was getting its ass kicked.

However, knowing what Earth represented to the Ancients and also what we were investigating at the time, I think Gaould should have known sooner or later, Earth SGC would have access to Ancient technology. What I'd like to know is what happened to the technology of the Ori, after Ark of Truth Earth is nominally the allies of the Ori galaxy's denizens, and since they have given up their desire for conquest, maybe we could ask for some ech or an Ori Mothership or 2. The Lucian alliance would probably stop messing with Earth after that.

The thing I always loved about Stargate is it had one of the most plausible backstories, finding a device in the desert in an archaeological dig. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the show was covered for the real thing. They sure seem to get a lot of cooperation from our government. At the end of every episode there's a paragraph that talks about how the show was made with the cooperation of the Air Force the defense department and space command. There have been episodes where the actual chairman of the joint Chiefs made an appearance. The Navy even let them borrow a submarine for one of their movies.
