    This was very helpful; thanks! I just got Rebelle 4, and have done a little, but there are so many options I felt wicked overwhelmed, lol. It's kind of a relief to hear someone say they have a couple favorite tools he prefers to use, mostly. Those were great tips for the different types of paint and pencil! Much appreciated - I hope you're still having fun creating!

      Thank you for the great comment! Rebelle 4 is a ton of fun, and that's even without getting into the "real watercolor drip" engine stuff! It's definitely a program that can take years to fully master, but it's great knowing there's a program out there that has such huge longevity and methods to create art with.

    Hello Wesley,
    Rebelle is great, the only thing that it is missing is tutorials, so if you cover that part it would be awesome :)

    • @ArtOfWesGardner
      @ArtOfWesGardner  3 года назад

      Good idea! Is there a specific type of tutorial you would like to see for using Rebelle? The possibilities are limitless!

      @@ArtOfWesGardner What I'm usually looking for are step by step process over real case scenarios.
      As long as you show off your skill with any medium, acrylic, oil, watercolor, etc on any topic: portrait, landscape, whatever, I will be happy :)
      if you want me to provide you a very concrete example, the thing i'm currently struggling with is how to do a charcoal portrait with a nice gradient value over the face/cheek : when I blend it feels I'm loosing too much too quickly paper texture and charcoal rugosity, but if i don't blend I have a hard time creating this gradient, maybe that's a stylet sensitivity issue I have, but because there is no charcoal tutorial for rebelle anywhere, i can't compare
      That was awfully specific, even if you don't do a charcoal portrait, lots of love :p

      Thank you, David! The music during the timelapse is from the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King soundtrack! It's a fantastic album to listen to while painting!

    Can you please post a video on just what is new in 4.1 version? It is a major update as they say..

      @ArtOfWesGardner  3 года назад

      Thank you VK! I think that's a great idea, as I just downloaded the 4.1 update yesterday! Let me dig around and see what I can find!

      @@ArtOfWesGardner Thank you. To make things easier for you, I am posting this. This is what they claim about 4.1 . given below. You may cover all points one by one practically in a simple way. As not well acquainted with previous versions of Rebelle people like me may not be able to know the DIFFERENCE. I think it is possible for experienced persons like u only. I hope this would be helpful to you.
      Rebelle 4.1 has been in the works for over four months now and brings you amazing new features, many changes, and loads of important bug fixes. While working on this update, we focused heavily on the always-fruitful user feedback that provided great ideas for our development pipeline.
      Major New Features:
      - New magnificent watercolor diffusion for a wet-on-wet paint technique
      - Blend mode of paint brushes can blend and smudge painting
      - 'Dirty brush' keeps dirty paint longer time
      - Better RYB (red-yellow-blue) color mixing
      - 'Water' slider in the Properties panel is more sensitive in low values
      - Tilt panel slider is more sensitive in low values
      - Non-glazing brushes are more similar to Rebelle 3 brushes
      - Better watercolor edge darkening
      - Watercolor edges are antialiased while the paint is drying
      - and much more...

      Hahah YESSSS! One of my favorite go-to soundtracks when I paint! I think this was some Wrath of the Lich King? The main theme for Dalaran by itself brings back so many good memories, it's always on my "inspirational art" playlist rotation!

    Is it worth the price?
    I want to buy the program...

    • @ArtOfWesGardner
      @ArtOfWesGardner  3 года назад +1

      Hey Gaby! I definitely think it's worth the price, as it has a huge amount of customization for "traditional feeling" brushes, and it's nice to have an all-in-one package that handles the traditional feel instead of having to hop around two or three other programs to get a similar visual effect.

    What kind of pc or laptop are you using
    Do you recommend this software for older laptops , I have a think pad x1 carbon from 2013 i7 .
    Could you recommend me a software that would run smoothly on it ?
    Thank you in advance.

    • @ArtOfWesGardner
      @ArtOfWesGardner  3 года назад

      Hey there Skull, thanks for the comment! I have an older desktop, an i7 4790k processor with 12 gigs of RAM and an RX 580 graphics card, with a SUPER-old hard drive, ha! I think you should be able to run some good programs with your i7, however some larger canvas sizes and a lot of layers may slow down the machine a bit. It seems nowadays a lot of digital painting programs prioritize CPU over GPU
