  • In this video, Tom introduces us to Rebelle's brushes and explains how they work. Understand how different shapes and grains influence the final look of your brush strokes and how you can create your own brushes directly from the canvas using the 'Import Selection' option. Tom also demonstrates some of the most used Brush Creator settings while creating a pattern of a maple leaf brush.

Best Rebelle Brush Creator overview I've viewed so. Will return to this video when I grow experienced enough to edit and/or create some brushes.

Hi Tom! The R5 version also has curves and a few other ways to fine tune your custom brushes.

I second what Tom Gerds said. Thank you Tom Gallovich for this wonderfully taught tutorial on brush creation. You even included a simple, straight-forward explanation of multiply and screen blending modes.

Thank you. I have a lot of knowledge from your videos. I am trying to make a brush that I think many water color people would like. The Hake brush. I have painted tradtional watercolor a few months and bought the ron ranson set of brushes. That brush I see is used by many as a brushh with just a few others to make paintings. Do you know of a brush that you have seen that would do that.

Ron Ranson WOW ! I have two of his books. Ron Ranson on Skies, Watercolor Painting From Photographs. Thats a name out of my past! I personally would use a Hake brush to pull water and color straight down for reflections on very calm water. With that in mind any soft fine bristle brush should work. Consider a rectangular shape of fine black dots. You may have to experiment with the size and spacing of the dots. Let me know if it works! Tom G.
