Can't believe I mised this. Thank you, Tom! I was one of the people asking for this and I am so glad you did the video! I had no idea that the tracing part can be put into groups like this! Definitely an eye opener.

Hi @ricbulow, Happy to hear that you like the demo. I was asked to do this demo a while back so I thought I would try to cover all options. Tom G.

Very interesting video. I like the first third, when you create the composition, bobcat by object. This is exactly what I do; on image manipulation software, but it's the same.
Tradition artists did the same. They pick a tree from a sketch, a mountain from another sketch, and so on.
I liked also the speech about unwanted tangents.

Hi @carles_carbonell Thank you very much for the kind words. I see that you have been busy lately, producing many exceptional paintings on the Escape Motions Gallery. You have established a very unique look that I can tell immediately it is your work! Great job Carles! Thanks for the visit, Tom G.

SO useful Tom. Tutorials explaining button by button and what each does help, but not as much as explaining what one is trying to achieve and WHICH setting in Rebelle will help with that goal, IN A REAL PAINTING. Thanks.

Hi @richardhaas1989, I am not sure what you are asking for? "IN A REAL PAINTING" what does that mean? This tutorial was a special request for those just starting in digital painting in general.

@@TheArtofTomGallovich I meant you actually make a painting with Rebelle using its features to create what you want, not just "this button makes the brush larger..." I don't have a question just wanted to thank you for the kind of videos you have made all these years.

@@richardhaas1989 OK got you now! I apologize for misunderstanding your comment. I was under the impression that you might have been against the Tracing System for those just starting out in painting. I try to create demos for any level of experience, I know I have picked up some very useful tips/info from the most unlikely artists. In other words I take the time to listen to those who do not work with wildlife, nature, and landscapes. Composition for example is very subjective, but I try to get the majority of people to see what I want them to see. If I can do that I feel like I succeeded. I have always been the defender of those who want to try something new, again I apologize for the misunderstanding. Tom G.

@@TheArtofTomGallovichI have no problem with the Tracing in Rebelle. As a food photographer years ago, I often was asked (by the "Art" director) to set up a shot of fish sticks again "except change the napkin from red to blue." (way before photoshop) I learned it was enormously difficult to reproduce a photo that, even I, had taken. We had clear acetates with ink lines on the back of the 8 by 10 view camera and even with those just physically copying positions exactly was not easy. Not to mention the artist in me trying to improve the shot a little...Some people think painting on top of a photograph is cheating, I know it isn't. Whether the painting is good or not STILL depends how hard one WORKS on themself to MAKE it good. I have made plenty of terribly amateurish "first drafts" tracing my own photographs...

@richardhaas1989, Interesting! Very Interesting, the reason why I say that is your mention of an 8x10 view camera. I had two Hasselblad 501CM cameras I used for weddings. For studio work I used an Arca Swiss F1 with my go to lenses. A Schneider 90XL (that would project to a 5x7) and a Schneider 210. I traded everything in a while ago for digital equipment. I think I got about 10 cents on the dollar of the original worth. I miss the 4x5 very much. After I sold it I began to take multiple image composites with my digital. I have some that have as many as 72 - 25 mg raw photos to make up one big pano. This would be 3 rows of 8 times 3 for (+ Even - ) exposure bracketing. It takes quite a bit of time to shot that many shots especially if it is a low light situation with long shutter speeds. However it does not offer the DOF controls that a view camera has. Swing - tilt, rise and fall and so on. Those are the functions I really miss! From what I remember that 8x10 cameras were really big for the furniture industry? Have you ever done that? I originally got into photography to have my own references to paint from. I soon learned what photo bug meant. Thanks for your time and feed back Richard! Excellent conversation. Tom G.

Hi @abdallaalmidfa7345, Thanks for your interest, I am using a Wacom Cintiq 24 Pro 4K. It is excellent to work with for artwork and photo editing. Tom G.
