The gurage women cover their hair because it's tradition. Most of gurage are Orthodox Christians. And they don't always cover it, but when they do it is to show if they are married or not.

I don't know about 7 bet, or meskan or other gurages but i know about kistane gurages, and they are dominantly Orthodox Christian. And i have been to the most rural areas also to cities and from family members and people i know, i can say they are Orthodox Christians. Gurages came from north Ethiopia which had orthodox Christianity as a dominant religion.

I'm from Ethiopia and the reason why you saw their hairs covered is the influence of religion over their culture. In my place of birth, women keep their hairs covered regardless of the religion they are following. Only school age girls are at liberty to wear or not. I just want to comment on the outfit you guys confused on. the garments that the men wore it’s because they live in around the desert that can’t tolerate the hot weather, as a result of that people in that area always wear garment instead of pant.

Somali is like a state in ethiopia....but also there is other neighboring country called Somalia ......both people share the same culture
Oh no! They are quite different. Am from Kenya. Ethiopia is our neighbor to the north while Somalia is on the east. The main language in Ethiopia is Amharic(closely related with the language Jesus is believed to have spoken) while Somalia speak Somali. However the three countries Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia have Somali communities. It's crazy but remember these borders were drawn by the Europeans when they came to colonize us

Tigray and amhara and Eritrea in the north shares most of their language , have same culture and religions beliefs, same history , and common ancestry
