I love Kenyan food too
As a Somali woman my family eats with utensils but we also know how to eat with our right hand without making a mess. I hope you guys have a chance to try a Somali restaurant in your area soon!
I am a Somali Canadian and I have come across your channel yesterday and I loved it. I watched several of your shows and they are diverse and great. Well done and congratulations. the other thing I wanted to point out is the fact that you are also exposing The various and diverse African cultures to the Americans. African Americans can appreciate such programs which exposes them to their African heritage. Your kind of programs or shows are something that we can all be proud of. Thank you and I wish you all the best.
I'm South African but I will also try that first meal...mash potatoes and egg it looks yummy❤
Come to Johannesburg mayfair i will welcome you and try our food please come

My old neighbour used to make us samosa and sambusa. The samosa were too spicy for my little one yet they tasted so good he kept eating while tears streamed down his face lol. We were so lucky to eat her food. I miss her so much.
And did that guy say “but it was a loud kid”. Lol what fun.
African American you are one of us

Minnesota has welcomed two very different refugee groups, Hmong people after the Vietnam War and the Somali people who had to flee a civil war.
OMGGGGG I’m in this video even though I’m barely in the shot 😂 I ran in Chef Jamal at Karmel Mall which is where they started by the coffee shop, Jamal as well as all the other chefs are truly incredible people and chefs. The restaurants have amazing food choices and I’m so excited you’re reviewing and watching. I would loooove to see our black Americans brothers and sisters join and create a mall where y’all have clothes and music and salons and bar-bar shops and all the amazing southern and soul foods you guys make make. Respect to all 🌍
The Somali big portions are world famous
Somali food looks great.
Not everybody eats with hands in Somalia , but eating hand is more of a Muslim thing, but even in Asia it's common like in India and across Africa too
Thank you so much guys 💖 funny fact we Somali Eat Everything With Banana 🍌 😊
We keep everything in the plate nothing falls on the table. Its a skill.
Africa is not easy we love africa
Nice one i am somali canadian immigrated states late 1987 and live in canada this is the best video i have ever watched
Thank you guys for representing our culture. Look small business or restaurant around your state. I think every state , there are Somalia and they maybe have small businesses and restaurants there because we are people business. Thanks again guys👌👌👍👍👍. I like you videos ❤️❤️❤️.
They’re just standing all casually next to aunt Hiiba-Nuura like she isn’t who she is. She is the Somali Gladys Knight and long in the tooth so to speak.
I know, this is the queen. This is HIBO MAXAMED! I would have been having kittens!❤ wooow hibo!
Thanks for sharing our culture
Thank you guys 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍

Ameen
I liked how calm you are and relaxed watching our culture and somali
Food
There's also quite big Somali community in Nashville
African-American culture is unique and contributes greatly to American identity and culture. The most important part of American culture that is copied and admired in the world has roots in the African American culture. Im somali, danish by citizenship.
It’s a pretty big somali community in Nashville, Atlanta and a few in Charlotte and Raleigh.
We use black pepper for the aroma, not for the heat. Unless we put it in tea to give it to someone who has a cold.
yes, i very much will love to see you guys cook feazi[thats the name for the orange egg/potato food you guys were reacting to]
We have been taught from childhood how to use our hands it also depends on which tribe in my tribe bakiga from western Uganda we don't put all our fingers in the mouth and you begin from one side of the plate to a nother not touching the whole plate so just in case you leave the food you will be able to eat it again or eating with other people on one plate each one eats in their front we can all end at the middle of the plate most times we would leave that for the younger person on the group
So that way it never gets messy but after some time using forks and spoons you some how get messy with some dishes like rice or soups
Wow it is amazing. I would love to see you do more of food culture African like Somalia, Ghana, and other African example West Africa and East Africa - Thanks alot well explained.
Thanks guys we love
14:37 That sign board is similar to ones in Eastleigh, Nairobi, thats Eastleigh in Minneapolis.
❤ luv my culture and ppl 🇸🇴
Thanks ❤
You guys are doing a great job 💪
Most don’t eat with hands just here and there mostly when sharing a plate with a friend we use hands but most restaurants u won’t see someone going in with the hands
I am Ethiopian living in Canada… I know you were hold back those tears I feel like crying with girl. African Americans did have this kind of place, but it was destroyed, AKA WALL-STREET !!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ love Somalia Djiboutie Insha'Allah Kheir
Let's go guys
I love somali food 🇸🇴 ❤
I live in Europe and we have our own culture meeting places restaurants we celebrate our national day 🇸🇴 speak Somali even though never seen 💯 nothing special to USA 🙌🏾
I will start eating with my hand and finished with my hand thats how I grew up all my life and all somalis grew up like that..
Thanks 🙏 guys❤
If you live in the south you can go to Atlanta Georgia Somali restaurant or Nashville Tennessee. In Atlanta GA, there’s a large Somali and Ethiopian community where you can find a variety of foods if you google it you won’t miss it. It okay to use utensils but as Africans we love to use our hands because we’re deeply ingrained in our traditions. . I have a lot of African American friends here in Omaha Nebraska and we go to Eithiopian and Somali restaurants near by. It’s blessing to have something that reminds as home. Thank you for this post, you guys are really amazing.
Black pepper use it for spicy like tea ,hot. Milk boiled with black pepper good for cold, best when used like hot peppers
We need more somalia content especially music 🎉🎉🎉🎉
16:29 it would be cool to see African Americans explaining to the younger generation about their culture of celebrating there first borns(Kwanza), and many more. African Americans is a cool culture, way of life.
Em angola
hand is the most efficient way to eat of course you have cleanse properly but you get to appreciate every bite and with practice you never drop a piece of rice
Our food it's so amazing
Somalia poeplem.most.lovely to see
Y’all def gotta try these. Periodt 🫶🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽
I normally use utensils in public. But eat with my hands when I’m at home
No you can use your left hand for support but make sure your hands are clean but to take a bite only your right hand very good question
Where ever we are we respect our culture food religion clothes and styee and never change our somali live style that is why we are pure somali
They forgot the part we olweys wash our hands ✋️.
Really cool video
Hand and spaghetti 🍝😮😂😮 culture shock
24:53🤣🤣🤣 nice one.
As Gandhi said ,Hands were made before Forks and Knives peace
thank you to reacting to somalis food.
I eat with my hands every since I started eating freely it’s like so common I have hard time using utensils in restaurants and that’s when it gets messy
Guys, I have somali friends and seriosly most of them eat with utensils.
As a Somali British our food is just out of this word, underated and definitely appreciated from outsiders. Also in general Somalis can settle in any part of the word and start their own business, we’re easily entrepreneurs and build our own community wherever we are. Also we are the most homogeneous land and ethnic in the whole of Africa and one of the most homogeneous in the world. Our forefathers worked their butt off to protect our culture and religion and 3/4 of Africa, hence why we’re known as the strongest warriors and the lions of Africa 🩸🇸🇴
I use my hand if I need too but if them chickens wing then use the hand for it an rice but sometime, I just use my spoon for the rice an hand just for the chicken but it whatever it feel right
Our sister and brother we love you ❤❤❤❤
I hope you try our food ❤
@the demouchets i like all your reactions on about somalis foods, culture etc if u guys live anywhere close to Atlanta ,nashville then theres big somali communities down south
There’s somali restaurants in Atlanta Georgia
Such a cute couple
Islam unites us. Even in America being Muslim enables us to automatically have a community wherever we go the masjid (mosque) brings us together as well as other Muslim communities.
Haha you guys are so cute we eat with our forks too all good
We have lot of somali restaurants in Salt lake city Utah and it is really amazing.
The dishes are to be shared.
It gets messy but you learn quickly how to eat without a mess not everyone is skilled at not being messy tho it depends person to person
Them big plates is shared with 3-2 people
The orange colour comes from saffron or food colouring not from spices.
In the Caribbean we ❤goat 🤤
You bound to get messy eating rice with your but hey you eat better with your hand it’s amazing 🇸🇴🇸🇴
3:45 I think the Demouchets wouldn't dip, I would be afraid too, the look is 50/50, good bad.
The banana cuts the sour so you get sweet and sour
Have you guys ever done your ancestry dna test to see where your ancestors came from?
Thanks am somalia ❤
So about the eating with the hand it's cultural but also religious and no we don't do it with mess cause it's practice you get good imagine Somali who never used spoons or falk with have the same problem. Good video guys I have seen the video b4 I am your customer now
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Gets messy at first then u get used it, like he said » it’s ok to suck at new things «
Sister, that’s a good point How come African-American they don’t have their own mall I been ask that question
they were cleared out to make way for others
Western culture is high individualistic. Now, somalis are highly egalitarian as well as community oriented.
The thing about Somali women is that we treat them better and respect more than any other country on the planet imagine in other countries the law is protecting the woman in Somalia they are treated with respect not because of Law because it's the right thing
Yaad harawsaneysaa sxb waynu is naqaanaa!!!!

Why Minnesota my people???. Anyway, nice video fam.
❤️❤️❤️❤️🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴💯
I dont know what that American sanbuusa taste like but for me if it doesn't contain fresh green chilies and fresh Cilantro it is not a proper Somali Sanbuusa
This is like if you went to France to learn black American cuisine
They are literally from Somalia. The changes they explained in the video.
I am VERY sure you can get the most authentic Somali food even there.
There is no such thing as africa culture but there may be a tribe culture like zulu or a country culture like Egypt or Congo...
So if you know the part of africa you are from you can search their culture...
