Loved the Krocks adventure style Sunday video! Jessica, I am a 63 year ( on Jan. 8th) old pastor's wife, and I act like you when I'm doing my thing alone!Brian, we intersect in loving the Lord and eating the good plants that he has given us. You guys did a video on being weird sometimes...I would say you're just really fun people! For dinner I had a homemade veggie burrito stuffed with red bulgar (as a faux ground beef) tomato paste, salsa, chopped cabbage/lettuce, veggie cheese wrapped in a no fat, high fiber spinach tortilla. A banana and a light sangria for dessert....hey, a girl's gotta chill some time! ;-)

For me, food combining experiments are key to this kind of eating. Most combinations work out fine. At least I find the foods don't clash. Those Aldi dates are great for salads and anywhere you want sweetness. Experimenting has been fun. Like peanut butter on Ezekiel bread with a layer of Kimche. Kimche is a wonderful addition to a pan of cooked vegetables, or potatoes. I've also resurrected my blender for fruit smoothies made with almond milk. Thank you for all you do!

    Yes more salad videos please!!
Today I had "breakfast" around noon: some sliced beets with a dab of horseradish, some extremely simple split pea soup made in the Instant Pot yesterday, and leftover stew of black beans, pineapple, bok choy, various seasonings and a little chili garlic sauce.
Dinner was at Red Lobster: plain baked potato and steamed broccoli, a naked side salad (no cheese or croutons), hot hibiscus tea, and water. I had no interest in the cheesy biscuit basket at all, a real first for me! I did bring my own chili garlic sauce for the potato, and lemon to squeeze over salad. First compliant restaurant meal ever, and I enjoyed every bite!
Quick note about prepared horseradish: read the labels - Kroger had 2 brands, one had soybean oil.
Some more split pea soup and tea when I got home, because I really hadn't eaten enough today (!).
Your videos show us the fun side of WFPB - thank you for all you do!!!

Cooking in batches enables you to bag up several servings of something and build a stockpile in the freezer. Then you can pull from your stash, without having to eat the same thing all week,, but still keeping the benefits of batch cooking. Some people won't eat leftovers, though, so for them, it's a different story.

    • @MartintheGreatPotatoMage
      @MartintheGreatPotatoMage 4 года назад

@@yellowbird5411 I'm the same as Jessica Rosenfeld; It's not so much that I struggle with batch cooking, it's more that I then save stuff in the freezer and forget that it's there, or that it's in the fridge but I don't quite fancy eating whatever it is again just yet, and then it feels like it's wasted... well, and definitely that eating the same thing day after day is kinda boring. I dunno, it works for some and not others! I'm pretty impressed by people who just know what they're eating and go for that one thing each day too.

You two are fabulous! I had cold oatmeal and blueberries for breakfast (a la Dr Esselstyn), veggies and hummus for lunch (raw cauliflower is my favorite), and a bowl of Dr McDougall's vegetable barley soup for dinner with a side of hummus and homemade corn tortillas. You inspire me!!!

In terms of the tortillas, I can't find a good white corn (yellow corn is too GMO) tortilla in the store. I bought one brand, but it was so flimsy with no flavor. I want to get one I can pop in the toaster without heating up my whole oven to brown them. The ones I got just "melted" down into the toaster as it heated. What a mess. So I bought some corn flour and tonight I watched some videos on how to make them without a tortilla press, and no oil in the pan. This is my next frontier.

I keep contemplating trying plant-based. However I'm married to someone who said that that's the food that food eats. So it gets to be complicated when I have to cook multiple meals. Love your videos! I live about 45 minutes outside of St Louis.

Eating WFPB and keeping yourself accountable while the other people in your home are sticking with their Standard Diet (or even being close to carnivorous!) is hard, but definitely doable. I should know, I've been doing it a while! XD
The way we work it is, I cook for me OR all three of us, my wife cooks for her and my son OR just does the meat for herself. She's trying to eat a few more vegetarian meals and the like, which is fine, but she's very much set on still using oil... And while the 'snack cupboard' area is shared, I have my sort-of-close-to-compliant stuff in a little tub :D

Can you make a video about specific mind sets that you had to change in order to stick to this. Like maybe some things that you believed were not harmful before or no big deal and how that changed and how you came to those realizations in your journey. I love your channel! You guys are so awesome and share so much of your journey but I’d love to hear about the emotional and mental side of that transformation

Good one, Chrissi. Since I fast intermittently, I have my first meal at 10-11 and my last at 6-7, so I have no rules as to what I eat when. It's all good.

I usually have a big salad for lunch. Just recently, I discovered that I love throwing some fresh fruit in my salad. Today I cut up a cara cara orange and put it in with my spinach, tomatoes and so on. I have also used watermelon. It is amazing! Loved your video. You guys do great. I really haven’t been able to get on the smoothie wagon. I can’t eat bananas and I can’t get past the greeness factor of green smoothies. I would rather eat the veggies and fruit whole. But I believe in them theoretically, lol.

Thanks for such great content, guys. I was widowed in March and my diet has gone from lots of plants and mostly vegetarian to lots of processed food because life is exhausting now. I've decided to gradually change my diet to more WFPB. I just subscribed to the Misfits box and I'm so excited!
