I had my first, and only, child at 40. I’m glad I waited because I was where I needed to be professionally, experienced lots of travel and was financially stable. My son is calm, centered, kind and a very happy guy. 🌸
Love this ♡ One of my best friends, had her first at 41 and second at 44 years old... I was just 19.5 years old with my first child, (who's now 20 - where does the time go?!)... It takes all types, and whatever people decide to do, is really up to them ♡ Also, have some amazing childless* friends, who are the best Auntie's to our children!!! Whatever you decide will be right for you :)
Joanne Holmberg my daughter is that way for sure although I had her when I was 19 . I raised her by the time she was. 16 she graduated high school early , started college and was the manager of a business. She now has her own business. Although I traveled after she was 16 I still had the experience . Probably better for most to do like you did because may not be able to do after kids come .
For men...we get married ..and often don't share the concerns.; however we shoulder the concerns..Brain is part right in behavior towards its a women decision to have children...yet if you both leave your relationship as serious separatists you no longer are in relationships...your in limbo..if there are health concerns..know this much "God dont junk, nor any that cant be handled you both as one joined in marriage / Matrimony/Wedlocked/ Genesis 2:25/ Cleaved to each other as one/Ephesians 5:31, NIV: "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be ... father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.”" ... I agree with you, Jessica. The decision to have (or not have) children is personal and your decision--no one else's decision or business. My husband and I decided not to have children (I'm 64, he's 70, so that boat has left the dock at this point) despite pressure and the snide "so when are you going to have children?" questions. Our decision is ours--and no one else's business. So don't let people pressure into doing something you don't really want to. If you decide to have kids--great. I think you'd both be awesome parents. But if you decide not to, that's great, too!
In response to the commenter you mentioned at the end who said to make the videos shorter: NO! The FACT is, your channel grew incredibly fast just the way you are! There is nothing to fix! The vast majority of us are here following you faithfully because we like what you're already offering! There is plenty of variety in content, style, and length for people to choose from. Thank you for all you do! 💜💜💜
Canned green beans, drain, rinse, dry on clean towel for like 30 minutes, throw in the air dryer with garlic, thyme, salt and pepper. I don't know how long, but it's amazing. Cucumbers, I'm with you, but I grow them because these people I live with think pickles are amazing, they are wrong, but I do love them so I grow and pickle Cucumbers for them. However, I tried a cucumber soup recipe a couple years ago and it was so good I can it to have throughout the non growing season. So good!
I live in New York and I came from rural Norway. I think you would both love it here. People are very friendly, it is easy to avoid the crowded areas and the art and music scene is amazing. Right now we are all waiting for everything to re-start.
Before I got married whenever id see couples who just got married the first question would be “ when are you guys having kids” now that I’ve been married for 3 years and we have infertility problems 😢Now I never ask anyone if their having kids because like you said Jessica you don’t know what the person is going through privately ... great Q&A 😁
Hi Jessica and Brian. I love your channel !You are so humble ! I'm from Taiwan which is a country near China. I don't add MSG which makes me feel dizzy in the dishes but can still find ways to make it tasty by actually do similarly what you guys do that's adding garlic, ginger, chilli pepper, etc...And I would add soy sauce or a little sesame oil. To be honest, I'm not trying to lose weight, but I' m watching videos to learn English. So thanks so much for what you do which is so inspiring and helpful to me !
Wow! Your English is amazing! It takes a lot of time, effort, and determination to learn another language. Even more so to be able to watch videos like this. You're doing great. :)
I love this vid! I also caught up on I’m losing it Podcast and I have to mention that I loved that Brian addressed the whole notion of when someone says “hey you look great like you e lost weight,” it just gives you a weird permission to go out and binge. Or like the confidence to cheat, as a reward. Idk the psyche is a weird thing.
I’m SO glad I found your channel!! I’m also on a weight loss ADVENTURE 😂 I’m born and raised in the Lou (Jeffco ish area actually lol) and moved to Collinsville for college. Now I’m living in Carbondale (husband’s job) and praying that God moves us back home soon. Love you guys!! ❤️
I love your long videos! That is one thing that bothers me about many you tubers, they rush through. I like hanging out with you guys and you can’t really hang out for 10 minutes cuz 10 minutes isn’t hanging out😂
I'm pretty sure you require more calories to maintain a higher weight. So as you lose weight you require less calories. So, if your caloric intake remains the same as you continue losing weight, you will eventually lose less weight because you require less calories to maintain your lower weight.
1) Many of the famous plant-based docs say it’s better to eat the conventional plant than to not eat the plant at all. 👍🏼 2) I just had to go order The Healthspan Solution _just because_ of you guys. Loving that book!!
I try to buy organic from the Dirty Dozen list. I can't afford to do better than that, BUT, we have to understand that when possible we SHOULD buy organic - not for ourselves, but for the people who are working the fields and getting doused with pesticides.
Also for our future generations to come and the nature. Was a bit strange that they didn't mention any other reason to buy organic that just that you may have some herbicide.
Conventional planting is also depleting and destroying the soil. I do not agree with how they responded to this topic. Idk who they're talking about but if you write a book or influence people you should understand more about it. Do not disqualify it if it isn't for you. Not to mention that the organic can also help eliminate inflammation. The chemicals used cross the blood brain barrier. I encourage you to look deeper, you'd probably be shocked.
you two are looking great! we do vegan at home and vegetarian when we're out. (a small amount of cheese or an egg in something cream in my coffee etc.) But we are all vegan at home. sometimes it's just impossible to find vegan options when you are not in your own town. popcorn is great.
Jessica. Whole food plant based cooking show has a chocolate peanut butter fudge that is very peanut butter cuppy. Texture is great, taste, mostly almond flour, p butter dates and cocoa. The chocolate bit tastes like tootsie rolls. The PB part is thumbs up.
Rare and appropriate, people and places. Good motto. That’s how I justified eating fresh fish when I vacationed in PEI last summer. I only ate it twice and stuck to my prepared meal plan for the rest of the trip, which was easy as I was camping and and meals were pre-planned.
When I travel, I find it interesting I to discover the fresh produce markets in foreign cities and what their local seasonal vegetables, fruits and starches are.
I've been with my husband for 15/16 years, I'm 41. We have a wonderful 2 1/2 year old, she will be our only, we had some struggles along the way, but she makes our family feel whole. Years ago when we were talking kids my husband said " you know we could just have one." It was that realization that we could have only one that made me realize i did want a child, I just don't want more. I'm an a-type planner and one child is perfect for us. Just want to share :)
Thank you for another good one guys, Perhaps odd to say the quarantine got me into a walking routine since nothing else was going on. BB runs like a freight train so I have to be able to do the same metaphorically. My knees are not replaced but they are toast. Side note: BB is my new to me motorcycle, a gift to myself for getting my health and life back together. A long way to go still but I'm getting there.

I grew up in south St. Louis I live in NYC it's hard to get in and hard to get out. But if you have an extra $50,000 it could be an interesting and fun year. Do your research and pick your neighborhood that carefully
I just love your videos. I have lost 70 pounds but not always in the best way. Jessica, I can relate to many things that you say. Thank you for such great videos and answering questions.
My opinion on organic is that if they are finding 18-20 different pesticide residues on each plant because the industry is keeping all of them just under the allowable level, then if I start eating tons of produce I am eating tons of pesticides (especially with juicing or smoothies). We don't have a great selection of organic produce here in our little town, so what I do is to start every shopping trip in the organic section. I get the produce I can there and then buy the rest non-organic. So at least I'm cutting down on pesticides. I WISH I was buying the Dirty Dozen all organic, but a lot of that stuff isn't usually available.
I really need to work on prepping vegetables ahead of time. I have had produce go bad a lot in the past, because I don’t. I have tried harder since working from home, but I have a long way to go. Also, my meal planning has been virtually non existent. I definitely need to rewatch (several times) your prepping videos. Would you keep including (or discussing) meal planning and prepping in your videos?
FYI, London England designated as one of the 10 cities in the world, that is plant vegan friendly. So you can find yourself there get comfortably with lots of delicious food pretty easily.
This was great and really insightful. I love how much you talk! For me, in my past, I’ve often used food as a reward or as a comfort so it can be hard to reprogram my relationship to that, particularly when having a hard day. Food has never been just fuel or science for me. Luckily I am (or Julie is, let’s be honest) finding plant-based recipes that result in dishes that feel indulgent but are actually healthy.
Seems like eating surrounds everything we do. The Holiday season is an eatathon, birthdays, all social gatherings, getting lunch or dinner with friends, movies etc. Eat to celebrate, when you’re happy, sad, lonely, bored etc.
Two things, you can check that organic food from overseas has the international organic food symbol iFoam - International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (aco.net.au/Pages/Operators/IFOAM.aspx) Second thing re stir-fry - in Australia where I am, it's illegal for restaurants and cafes to use MSG or for it to be used in any foods sold in supermarkets. I don't know how it is in the States, but you should ask if you go to a Chinese restaurant so if they still do use MSG they feel the customer pressure. And, if you can't make good stir-fry at home then you're really not doing it right. Just like home cooked beans or, Brian, a lot of your home made sauces, dressings, burger, etc. home made should be better. There are some great RUclips Chinese chefs/cooks so check out whatever food you have a hankering for. There are some great tricks eg: for bright green broccoli lightly cook in sparkling mineral water for a few minutes before you cook the stir fry and put it aside and add at the end, it'll stay bright green, make a sauce (soy sauce, garlic, ginger, cornstarch as thickener, Chinese rice wine) and have it mixed and ready to add at the right moment so the stir-fry is perfect. Learn how to slice beef the right direction of the grain. Get ingredients (oyster sauce, sesame oil, Chinese noodles, shitake mushrooms etc.) at a speciality Asian grocery store.
I think the two of you are inspiring. You started to lose me when you were discussing not caring about organic. I completely understand that not everyone can afford it and it’s better to eat fruits and vegetables that are non-organic than none at all. But pesticides do accumulate and cause diseases and disorders. . So I think it’s important to stay conscious about doing the best you can to be GMO free and organic with an emphasis on it’s important to eat fruits and vegetables no matter what!
I really love your videos & how far you both have come (though I am more on the other end - meaning I struggle to gain a bit more weight). I liked that you addressed organic and I agree with you on "mis-leading" people with different organic standards and the way organic got "diluted". Just some food for thought: Eating organic, non-sprayed food matters and the effects of pesticides on the body have been shown. And if not for yourself, it matters for the farmers who are exposed to it as well as everyone being exposed to spraying and run-off in the water streams. And it matters for the environment and the future possibility to produce any (plant-based) food as our conventional agriculture system (not only animal ag) destroys the soil, which is necessary to grow (nutritious) plants. So in the end it also effects us again by not being able to get nutritious food.
Hi!! Just wanted to let you know I prefer your Q+A in video instead of the *live*, for some reason live sessions are hard to listen/watch. I loved your England travels and meals!!
Keep it simple, Sweetie, but keep it true. I love what Jeff Novick says, that there's no reason to go off plan. Going off plan makes me cra cra, and leads me down a primrose path. Getting the food right first, as he says, makes everything else work. To each his own, but I like the quote on p134 of "Program for Maximum Weight Loss." Dr. McDougall quotes Joseph Campbell, who said, "Follow your bliss and the universe miraculously supports your choices for a happier and healthier way of life." So true. Key words are follow your bliss. For me, that's staying on plan. Your story has helped me get back on plan, and it feels wonderful.
I feel like the carbs and fat combo question has to do with the food triangle and Ray suggesting eating either to the right or left but never both. It's why keto people and low fat people lose weight, etc. I've gathered this from podcasts, lectures, and conversations.
Jessica, you have mentioned anxiety and depression. I think many people that have struggled with weight have some related issues; Brian is the exception to that 😉. I know that is a difficult thing to discuss because I have had similar issues and once it is public you cannot take the topic back private. I would love to hear more about that topic but if you do not want to go public with that information i understand. Have you thought of doing a private Facebook group for that topic? Just a thought. I love your channel, Brian's podcast and your recipes! You guys are great!
My family is in Collinsville. I grew up in St Louis (in my very young years). I’d love to visit St Louis as an adult. I haven’t been since I was like 12. I’m sure it’s quite different from 30 years ago. As for having kids, I’m not one to ask that kind of question of people but always have an open ear when people want to talk about it. I had my kids later in life. My first born I had at 35 and my youngest at 38 and while I am perfectly fine with those ages, I kind of wish I waited just a little bit longer. 🤷🏻♀️
Jessica and Brian you're both doing great and look fantastic, I love your approach to eating differently. One question I have (or two). How do you actually feel losing the weight? Do you feel differently? Has your self perception changed? There are time I lose weight but when I get to a certain weight I don't feel myself. I don't recognise myself and I feel very self consciousness when I get compliments about my weight loss. What would you call that? Is it self sabotage? Keep up the good work and thank you for sharing. 😊
Just had a bowl of nice cream while watching the fireworks from the laundry room. So good! An FYI, the notification bell is greyed out because it's ' content for kids'. Apparently RUclips made a change in Sept 2019. LOL, I've been thru Star Trek TNG and Deep Space Nine. Now working on Voyager. Pandemic goals.
Unfortunately, where we live we do not have a trader Joes, or a whole foods, just an aldis.. We use to live at Traders when we lived in Cali, AZ and NV.. now in a smaller town and those stores are not in town, in fact, the only Health store we had in town closed.
I grew up in Warrenton and now I live in IL an hour north of Chicago and the folks being different is very very true! Lol. Now I think I have to be a northerner for life. I don’t consider where I live to really be the Midwest growing up in MO it feels too different to be Midwest to me.
I haven't watched your show in a while. Brian you are looking great! You seem to be losing in a way that is more noticeable or more sculpting like. Yes that sounded strange. Jessica you look great too. You both are awesome examples! Thanks for sharing.
Honestly chopped cucumber and tomato WITH fresh herbs and some seasonings is something I’ve gotten used to- used to hate them. Now I kind of crave them. I do prefer seedless cucs or those baby ones. Which is crazy for me because I’ve always hated them.
Awww, I’m so glad you’ve visited London. My home town😊. Hope you liked it. 👍👌🌟💕 Editing to say that I just remembered that I have been to St Louis! 😊... 1982😳
We honestly loved London and England so much that we are planning on going back next year. It has made my list of places I would live outside of St. Louis. That's actually a huge compliment. 😀That list is fairly small. 😆
I’m here! Dropped everything to come check this out! ❣️ Jessica, I’ve noticed in the last two, your rings are not on your finger, It’s so pretty, I hope you didn’t lose it!
I need to develop the marathon mindset and not have harmful foods in the house. How did you get to the point when you just stopped allowing harmful foods in your home?
I had my first, and only, child at 40. I’m glad I waited because I was where I needed to be professionally, experienced lots of travel and was financially stable. My son is calm, centered, kind and a very happy guy. 🌸

I agree with you, Jessica. The decision to have (or not have) children is personal and your decision--no one else's decision or business. My husband and I decided not to have children (I'm 64, he's 70, so that boat has left the dock at this point) despite pressure and the snide "so when are you going to have children?" questions. Wish more people made that decision. You are appreciated!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I actually envy couples without kids. I longed to be a mother, but hindsight is 20/20. I love all of my kids, but parenting has been heartbreaking.
I am a very happy no children by choice person too. I am 50 now and constantly grateful for my choice and decision.

Would you keep including (or discussing) meal planning and prepping in your videos?
Y'all are great content producers! Thanks for doing this, love watching your progress & lots of fantastic tips. Be safe & Healthy!
FYI, London England designated as one of the 10 cities in the world, that is plant vegan friendly. So you can find yourself there get comfortably with lots of delicious food pretty easily.
Yes please make another popcorn seasoning! I make your first one whenever I have popcorn and love it!
Two things, you can check that organic food from overseas has the international organic food symbol iFoam - International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (aco.net.au/Pages/Operators/IFOAM.aspx)
Second thing re stir-fry - in Australia where I am, it's illegal for restaurants and cafes to use MSG or for it to be used in any foods sold in supermarkets.
You both are such a inspiration for all of us! Thank you!
That was a really good video! Thank you.
I think buying organic for the Dirty Dozen items makes sense whenever possible. Also buying local is huge.
My favorite video so far is the one where you walk around outside about 3 weeks ago more like that please
Thanks for answering my question!! Love your channel 😊
Brian is right, must experience other cultures food. Life is short, so enjoy
I love that the clips on your refrigerator are in rainbow order!!!
Stress is a perception of a situation, take it from a tax preparer! For some reason walking for miles works for me!
Meet me in St Louis was my grandmas favorite movie!
I like that movie
RIGHT...Love the increased time slot....good job
Hi!! Just wanted to let you know I prefer your Q+A in video instead of the *live*, for some reason live sessions are hard to listen/watch. I loved your England travels and meals!!
Awww poor Brian wants his breakfast!
My healthspan solution book has arrived! Also the vegan instant pot cookbook... Oh and Presto!
Love your Botanical gardens
And we all enjoy hearing you both talk....... 🤗🤗
Yes its a thing it is supposed to be better for your digestion to separate your food when you eat it
I feel like the carbs and fat combo question has to do with the food triangle and Ray suggesting eating either to the right or left but never both.
Yes yes to more popcorn stuffs. If you get crafty bet you could forge a popcorn hat onto of a drink that for hands free game snacking, lol.
You guys are so cute! Love your videos!
I agree. It is rude and no ones business to ask about having or not having kids.
Have you guys had the mini cucumbers from Aldi's? I'm seriously addicted! 😋
I’m thinking it wouldn’t be a pick for Brian.
I just bought them today but haven't tried them!
DIerbergs Grocery's newest slogan "it's like one step lower from Whole foods!"🤣
I agree with you about wanting to try the local foods, I find a lot of countries have more vegan choices!
Support the vegan restaurants you like. It will help keep them in business during this tough time.
I love the long videos!
I finished TNG, Discovery, and I am going through Enterprise right now. 😀
I love the long videos!💕☺
We watch Star Wars over and over 😊 love Jessica’s chocolate shake. We need to make popcorn
Enjoyed listening. Thankyou🥝🥝🥝
How long do veggies that you meal prep last? How often do you meal prep.
You should definitely live in NYC for a year. I loved it there.
Hi. Will you be making some of the recipes from your UK trip soon?
I'm a Missouri girl Kansas City born and raised.
Yeeeyyyy... I just finished binge watching ST TNG!!! :) Fan of Star Wars, too!! :) ... oohhh.... and I love that arch to bits... :)
Awww, I’m so glad you’ve visited London. My home town😊. Hope you liked it. 👍👌🌟💕
Editing to say that I just remembered that I have been to St Louis! 😊... 1982😳
We honestly loved London and England so much that we are planning on going back next year. It has made my list of places I would live outside of St. Louis. That's actually a huge compliment. 😀That list is fairly small. 😆
looking great guys!
I’m here! Dropped everything to come check this out! ❣️ Jessica, I’ve noticed in the last two, your rings are not on your finger, It’s so pretty, I hope you didn’t lose it!
I usually only wear them when I leave the house lol I also have a bad habit of not wearing them 🤣
It is a lifestyle change not just a diet.
You would both make amazing Parents❤️👌
I need to develop the marathon mindset and not have harmful foods in the house. How did you get to the point when you just stopped allowing harmful foods in your home?
I try to buy organic when it's an item you eat the skin but don't worry so much about items you peel.
Thanks!
