I wished i knew as much about body work as you it would have saved me a lot of money but i do know a lot about carpentry work because it's how i make my living...we can't be good at everything so we get good at one thing
I wanted to sorry for your loss of puppy. Still watching really enjoy your channel. Doing a great job with Nikki, gotta give you credit, for being such a good companion for your doys.
I watched Weird Beards. Video on painting that old truck with raddle can. I was surprised because he worked in an auto body shop. And he painted a old Plymouth. That’s still in his garage. Blue and white.
I watched the Weird Beard video you spoke about and complimented him for repurposing that spay can stuff that's really for graffiti!! Good fibre glass job on the truck - gives me a little more confidence to do it my self and that is what I think your video's are all about!
Weird Beard I think is wanting it to Fade and weather so as to have a sense of original patina, like you said, I am not a fan of patina like you, I like my vehicles shiny and clean,to each his own I guess, Lee,that ole truck is gonna be a pretty nice budget build with your work and painting skills my friend 👍
I'm pretty sure that Weird Beard is doing a distressed or Patina job on that old Chevy. There is no plan to make it look like a shiny new paint job as an end result. In the 1st video he made a reference to the old Suzuki Intruder that he turned into a rat rod bobber sort of Bike.
The truck is coming along nicely. You do something good work and you got some good looks happy and the cats look bondo Dusty 😂 keep up the good work and the cool videos 👍✌️🇺🇲
Weird beard said he wants a patena look. Don't think he that worried about that old truck. I guess time will tell on his paint job. Maybe if it fades he put some patina sauce on it. But all oranges and reds in that Texas sun will get x-rayed. It didn't have a chance from the start.
Spayed canned my 81' Malibu paint and primered. 2 Years later sitting in the weather its fading. Costly yes it was, stupid, yep that too. At the time my confidence was using the spray can doing model cars. Now I have the same $15 purple spray gun. Will be repainting the malibu. The way I see it the car needed Prime red and painted to keep the rustcdown, and a person has to start some where.
I do think Weird Beard eluded to the fact that the paint would end up aging quite quickly to resemble an old truck with aged looking paint but just more uniform coverage.
Lee, your totally right... NEVER spray paint a car !!! A friend of mine spray canned his Golf/GTI Hot Pink back in the 90"s wow!!! What a mess .he came out one sat day morning to clean the car to go cruising that nite and came off in globs in brush at the car wash.,. I just sat on the hood of my Nova 😂
I’ve actually used zero rust spray on and brush on . Only for parts not exposed to sun with very good results. As you mentioned NOT for long term results for exterior!
Spray cans are okay for parts and small stuff but for body panels, the spray pattern is too narrow for such a large surface like a hood or fenders so the finish gets all this over spray look to it. Yeah, you're right, it's a waste of time and money to try and paint a car body with spray cans. I like the way the truck's turning out! Thanks for the videos Lee
@clunkersandclassics That looks like what Chevy painted it they made entire interior colors that didn't match accent stripes or Rally stripes in the past and I've seen that color combo before White with Blue interior and Gold accent stripes. If you look at Chevrolet paint codes they tell you under their two tone section they say if there is a third number it refers to color of wheels so maybe, your 94 which appeared to have started out white/ gold with blue interior had gold accents on the wheels as a tie in to the gold accent lower border molding stripes!! Sorry, I'm just a Chevy purist lol I still watch your videos though I cringe at 96 Suburu seats un an 70-80's El Camino 😆 lol !!
I was wondering how many cans of spray paint WB used too and asked him. Someone had spray bombed an old van I bought to restore. I stripped it to bare metal before I started repainting it. Yeah it’s not cool to rattle can an old car and kick it on down the line. Rattle can paint doesn’t last outside.
Learning a lot of good body/paint tips & tricks from your channel. I see you utilize carports for your completed builds. Have you ever thought about building a carport on the front of your shop to provide additional shade and rain cover while working on your builds. Cost is not too excessive and would work great for added workspace.
no, that's what the carport that is now Nikkis pen was to be used for. A carport in front of the shop would block the much needed heat from the sun in the spring, fall and winter.
hi lee the truck is looking great i got a little question in my car the bumper rubber in the bottom is push in a little could i use one of those heat blower to soften the rubber to push it out. ps nice to see nikki doing great and enjoying her walks
I’d try using a torch instead of the heat gun . I don’t know how many watts yours is but it should have brought the color back quicker than that..oh and speaking of weird Beard . I think he he was just making continent because he done some fantastic work the majority of what I’ve seen.
Check out the Dalton from Pole garden garage most of his cars are painted with tractor bank even paying no 14 his kid the Falcon worth Falcon 60's car will track the bank 2 tone and it been set up 46 or 8 months and it hasn't dollars or anything even one best and show what a couple shows more power tour that they drove across country in it
I got a buddy mine used tractor paint for years and years on trucks and farm equipment and planes everything else and it held up well but you have to take it down with the metal and then go back with the other you cannot paint over other kind of paint unless you use this iller
There's only one guy who knows it made that work and he made it clear in the fact that it's a worktruck so he just wants something he can touch up easy and that's a Brant from half a custom on his Dewey Dodge Ford drive truck they use all cars around with and that's why because of the work truck and all he doesn't work it and he knows it's gonna get beat to hell anyway so he going to have to do body work and run over over again keep up making the
Actually, the end of your video sounded good...Spray paint a junk car and let it sit and lets all see how long it takes for the paint takes a huge crap, then try to paint on top of that with real car paint..Don't even have to do the whole car hood, roof fender or something like that.. Interested to see how the heat gun on the door panel turns out, looks somewhat promising so far..
I see all these guys on utube with the spray cans and rustolium. I have been down that road of painting car after that has been done. It will sizzle up like a egg in a fring pan. That being said keep that amoral away from the paint. They do seem color coded interior paint for plastic.
I can sprayed the roof of my 200 Dodge Ram it needed no body work I just didn't wanna put new. Cab roof lighting on a milky white deteriorating clear coat and these new car paint jobs aren't as strong as the old paints that had very high VOC'S SO, I DIDNT Clearwater my new looking patriot blue roof on purpose it became faded to about the. Color of rest of the truck in a couple years now my whole trymuck is a deep nliuish purple and still nice looking at nightcwith the cab roof lights on
Like I said i'd rather paint a car with dark paint and I would spray cans because it doesn't hold up 4 times like I said check out that doggy from Pole garden garage tomb is old videos when he was doing his fair inferior's kid to drive that car has been painted with tractor paint for at least a year and a half and still move as good as the day painted it
That's why I will never get another dog for a pet ( companion) it's just to hurtful when they pass it's about unbearable...so I have a cat don't get me wrong I love the little fella but not like we feel about our dogs it's not the same...
@@clunkersandclassics Thanks bud, Ordered 3 cartons. Sure as hell can't beat that price. Considering I've been paying over ten bucks a pack for cigs here in CA.
I've been a fan for awhile, but I've just got to say I'm not so into the newer cars. After you finish this truck I hope you find something cooler to work on. Sorry about puppy 😢
truck is looking much better, Sir...please put an old pallet in the dog pen & screw a hunk of plywood onto it & place a thick padded cover on top for the dog to sleep on instead of the dirt...okay ?

@@clunkersandclassics Your Very Welcome My Friend.
Great job on the body work looks good on the step-side truck

You can also use a propane torch. It works allot faster than the heat gun. I do it all the time on black cladding on Jeep flares and door molding.

You should do a two tone tutorial and leave the GOLD that nice gold !! Nice step side but I wouldn't buy a fleet colored one personally
gold doesn't match the blue interior

I think weird birds sometimes smoke too much weed man think that's where he comes up somebody's ideas
