This was always one of my favorite figs too! The clear plastic abdomen always looked really cool to me. They may not pass a close inspection, but your work more than did the trick for display purposes. Fantastic work, Dave! Thank you for sharing!!
One of those molds you made in previous videos and some miliput could probably create those vocoders with the fine detail. Maybe one for another video 👍
Always impressed with your toy fixing workarounds, but even more impressed that you never glue your fingers together every time you bring out the super glue!!
@@toypolloi for me, this might be a one day thing. Too many other things to deal with, too much daily life to keep on top of. Biggest problem I have at the moment is organization.
These turned out really good! I feel like something as detail heavy as this would benefit from a simple mold and recast tho. But still turned out looking great!
You could certainly make a mold for this. I wanted to show what could be made if you didn't have an original as I think that will be the starting point for many people.
I think you could add the fine detail by scoring lines into the microphone with a knife. Then crimp the pipe by squeezing with your pliers and you'll get lines pressed in! I'm surprised you didn't use your milliput and mould method to recreate the microphone, though!
Great repairs! I love 2-1B. 😃 Here's a suggestion for an alternative to the rubber tube. Waxed cotton cord. It has a texture just like the original plastic and would be easy to paint or colour with a Sharpie. I used some brown waxed cotton as a replacement for the retro Indy figures incredibly short whips. It looks perfect.
Great video! Hey here's a tip for the grooves on the microphone, simply heat your x-acto blade and imprint the live edge on the plastic one groove at a time, then sand off any melted burr with your nail file.
great vid the 2 1b you broke could be a good body base for a droid custom maybe 4lom zuckass arms and a deathstar droid head and paint could look awesome
This is a little late, considering the videos were posted 2 years ago, but thanks to those videos I was able to fix some of my Real Ghostbusters proton packs. Cheers Dave!
I know the fixes here are about being fairly uncomplicated, but I bet if you got some heat shrink tubing over a piece of braided wire cable or stiff braided string and shrunk it down with hot air you could get a pattern to appear on the hose. Great video as usual!
Fix the glued head one and make some arms with the broken stubs of the broken arms don't matter if it matches you could make arms that hold stuff like a blaster or something custom arms?
I remember this figure very well from the early 1980s I liked starwars but was not a collector However my 3 brothers where So there was always starwars figures all over the house 😂👍
I have never seen this figure in person, but for me, the tube/wire has always looked like those "silver" wires that has a clear tube on the outside (like a housing) I cant remember where I have seen those, or in what sort of content, but that is what pops up in my mind. 😄 ED: Almost like a breaking wire for your bike.
I agree that the silver touch up will need to match the original silver. otherwise it will be spotted easily - then again we aren't painting the Cistine Chapel. Could the sticky issue with the paint have time to cure and harden? All up looks good!!
Just before you clipped off the 1mm sides I had a moment of inspiration, what if you made one that looked like Vader’s triangular breather? Even the piece with the sides forming a bit of a box looked pretty cool. 2-1B might be a good candidate for a custom.
Love that figure! I do remember touching it up as a kid with enamel paint that’s probably still tacky. Are those the same arms as IG88? Thank you for making this.
Spot on as usual Dave but taking a leaf out of your own book I predicted before I watched you might use milliput to make the microphone piece, good job I’m not a betting man 😂
Speaking of tubing, does anyone know of any online guides that give exact measurements of GI Joe or MASK tubing used on their accessories? I bought some tubing from Ebay a couple of years back mainly for my MASK "Venom's Revenge" Miles Mayhem, but also for one or two Action Force figures. I know I could cut it to any old length and I'm being a bit OCD about it, but I'd like to replicate my original tubing as closely as possible.
Hi TP, I hope you can help. What do you recommend using to make the 2008 Rancor manacle? I bought one second hand and it looks great but missing the manacle on its right wrist. If anyone can you can and hope you can give some suggestions. Keep up the amazing videos btw
@toypolloi Thanks so much for answering that. I've had the hardest time finding that info and ended up paying some random website $11 for a small amount of it. 😔
I ordered some alternate faction acolytes for my Cthulhu Wars game. They were shipped to me crammed in a ziplock bag. This caused some of the Yellow Sign minis to lean over to the side, causing them to fall over. I used hot water to soften the mini's plastic leg so I could straighten it out. Now it stands upright.
This was always one of my favorite figs too! The clear plastic abdomen always looked really cool to me. They may not pass a close inspection, but your work more than did the trick for display purposes. Fantastic work, Dave! Thank you for sharing!!
Your skills for repairs and making custom parts are amazing. Something to learn in your videos!
Thanks 👍
And the baby powder....with the customs I make I'll definitely remember that with sticky paint! Thanks!
He's one of my favorite droids.
Broken robots are also nice to have in your dioramas, makes it more real!
Your intros are always so much fun; came for the intro, stayed for the toy repair. 😊
Awesome! Thank you!
You can see how I made the intro here ruclips.net/video/vu-ZrVJisuM/видео.html
Great job with the marker using it on the tube for the gray came out perfectly!! 👏👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!
The talcum powder hack is priceless.
Baby Powder on sticky paint on rubber- never thought of that! Dave, you are the Go-To, and also the Toy Goat! All the best Dude! :)
One of those molds you made in previous videos and some miliput could probably create those vocoders with the fine detail. Maybe one for another video 👍
I loves the medical droid figure that came with the micro machine Hoth playset.
I had half-fixed my 2-1B a while back but never got around to fine-tuning the repairs. Thanks for this video! I'm going to revisit my old project now.
That's great. He's a fun one to work on.
I like the way the rubber hose sits on the chest. It looks much better
Mysterion here- you always do such a bang up job
Love the Intro!!! You do great things, Dave! It's a pleasure to watch.
Thank you kindly
WOW. First time I've seen that intro on your vids! I love it!!! Great restoration on 21B too!
Awesome! Thank you!
I'm happy to see you were able to fix those faces of silents screams of horror (or surprise?). Looking great.
Always impressed with your toy fixing workarounds, but even more impressed that you never glue your fingers together every time you bring out the super glue!!
I just don't show that bit 😜
Excellent work Dave! They look great!
2-1B medical Droid is also my favorit droid and stil is. And have him in my collection. And again great job Dave.👌
The FX-7 is my favorite.
@@BronyNumber4096 Nice to read that. 👍
Hey Dave
Great looking fix and video, it flew by. Happy Weekend to You and MrsTP.
Take care😊
Thanks, you too!
I love these videos. Brilliant. Thank you
Glad you like them!
Should try your hand at making a small repair shop diorama to house all your broken droids that haven’t been fixed yet! 😄
That would be cool
Or a Droid factory diorama!
Or the Jawas interior of the sand crawler or the place in Jabbas Palace where they kept all the poor droids they owned
Love that beginning!!! LOL
Just amazed at what you do and your patience to do it. Talent I wish I had.
Just give it a go. I'm still learning.

You're a wizard. Watching your videos makes me want to collect vintage star wars toys lol
Awesome fix. I love when parts from beaters are put together to get a complete figure. It's almost like magic.
Couldn't agree more!
Great result. A slightly longer tube with some 1mm aramature wire up the middle will help the shape of the 'microphone lead'.

Thank you! Cheers!
Wow great job Dave been a while I saw one of your videos always fun to watch plus you always give tip on how to fix a toy
Thanks 👍
Know who I’ll help from when I need to fix an old broken droid figure appreciate much my friend!! 🦾🦾🦾
Great repairs! I love 2-1B. 😃

That was a great fix! I'd certainly love to see you try your skill on those arms, too! That would be a fun video!
Noted!

Great job Dave!👍

Remarkable as always!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Brilliant job

Great project mate. Quick & easy.

Darth bond great love it😮😊
Great video. Any ideas on how to make his probe ?
I'd go down the same route as this. Pieces of styrene shaped to fit. Repro ones are also an easy option for the weapon.
Brilliant 👍🏻
Oh wow I never knew about the baby powder thank you
No problem 😊

I'd be interested in that broken 2-1B. I've wanted to make tge MD Droid for a while and need the 2-1B body to start it.
They look eminently displayable
Thanks.
I agree that the silver touch up will need to match the original silver. otherwise it will be spotted easily - then again we aren't painting the Cistine Chapel. Could the sticky issue with the paint have time to cure and harden? All up looks good!!
Hi, I know some use gor shaping and trimming non squared parts a method with a sort of acid/molder which slowly melts the plastic during shaping

I remember 007 golden eye on the Nintendo 64. That was a really fun game.
Love that figure! I do remember touching it up as a kid with enamel paint that’s probably still tacky.
Are those the same arms as IG88?
Thank you for making this.
These arms are unique to the figure. He might look like a cool custom with different arms though.
Spot on as usual Dave but taking a leaf out of your own book I predicted before I watched you might use milliput to make the microphone piece, good job I’m not a betting man 😂
Looks like you have the two variations of the figure: metallic, and non-metallic blue. The metallic one looks more impressive, imo.
Hi great videos. Do you have a video on how to reattach a leg? I have a biker scout but his legs are off. The pegs aren’t intact either.
I do. Check out my c3po video. It's a similar fix to that.
@@toypolloi thank you I will do that now. Your fixes are genius.
have you ever thought of 3d printed replacement parts for the figures?
I have. You can find out why over on @toypolloitwo ruclips.net/video/0126LgtKDwU/видео.html&pp=ygUcdG95IHBvbGxvaSB0d28gd2h5IGRvbid0IHlvdQ%3D%3D
Maybe get a fine tip black sharpie to make the little line on the mic. Or you could get really inventive & make a water decal for the details.
"I don't have the skills"?!? Have you watched you're own videos?? You indeed do have the skills lol
Those look better than the original! I knew you'd go with silver Sharpie for that color / finish. Excellent match. Great job all around!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great
A 21-B with a missing vocoder kind of reminds me of his wearing a Charlie Chaplin mustache 🥸

I learned recently that handyman gloves make everything easier, give it a try and don’t torture your hands 😅
I don't think they'd work when dealing with things this small. My hands seem to be holding up 🖖

I actually have this figure. Mine is actually the 90s version.
2nd time watching...
I bet you could make an arm or two with Lego pieces and styrene(?).
I'd certainly give it a go.
Dave, what is the diameter of the tubing? Thank you!
It's about 2mm.
@toypolloi Thanks so much for answering that. I've had the hardest time finding that info and ended up paying some random website $11 for a small amount of it. 😔
It's just beading tubing. So cheap to buy on eBay.
Is the a verient medi druid? blue and turquoise??
If I found a battered one without the microphone vocoder, I can alter it into a freelance robot character. What do you think of that?
Should of just molded the parts from blue stuff and milliput and make an exact copy and save time.
💪😎
It's a droid, use the remains to make a new kitbashed droid.
His brother 22-1B was a detective
