The zinc oxide he put in there doesn't matter. Have you seen Lab Muffin's ( Dr. Michelle Wong) video on this? Its not the ingredient, its how it processed and integrated in the formula. The Zinc Oxide has to be a particular particles soze and it must be boated forst. Each micro or nano partcle must be coated, so they don't clump together. And the emilsion has to be homogenized and processed in such a way that the particles are evenly dispersed and stay that way. Clumped zinc oxide is basically ineffective and also can just sink to the bottom of the mixture. Zinc Oxide isnt the same as zinc oxide

Sunscreen is SOOOOO EXPENSIVE considering how much of it we NEED to use and how OFTEN we need it on properly!! It's practically like price gouging (in my opinion 😊).
You can buy sunscreen in any price range. You know what’s more costly than sunscreen? Medical treatments due to skin cancer. Find something in your price range and use it.
You can also wear the more expensive stuff on your face( if the price range works for you) and wear a less expensive brand on your body. You don’t have to wear the same sunscreen on your entire body, you just can’t mix them together. I’ve been wearing sunscreen daily for 33 years.
Thank you both for sharing this informative video 😊 I use sunscreen every day now since my skin is more sensitive with Rosacea. I use the Vanicream SPF 30 the texture is lightweight, fragrance free with a nice matte finish - no white cast 🥰 Take care everyone 🌹
I ALWAYS use sunscreen and I got into this necessary habit because tinted sunscreens became available in various shades. Before tinted ones became available I HAD TO apply sunscreen first and then put my foundation on top of that! It was time consuming and sometimes a HOT MESS. 😂 Thank goodness for tinted sunscreen!
Every morning when I listen to one of your videos, it also reminds me to put on my sunscreen for the day 😆 who knew youtube could create such a great habit!
I agree with the Vit D not being low because of wearing sunscreen. I live in sunny Southern CA, and am Vit D insufficient (just slightly low, not quite in the deficient zone). But that's largely due to being sun avoidant. I work nights and am mostly indoors during the day. I'm 41 and only started wearing sunscreen every day a few years ago, I would wear it when going to the beach or outdoor activities. But not for driving or running errands during the day. So no, wearing sunscreen does not disrupt Vit D production. Having low to no time outside does. 😄
I listened to that influencer talking about a physical barrier. He was actually talking about physical barriers like cloth, hats, shade covers. He spoke about physical sunscreens and chemical sunscreens in the podcast, but that quote was him saying that if you don’t want to wear any sunscreen, you can rely on physically blocking the sun.

Black Girl Sunscreen for kids became my go-to chemical sunscreen because it doesn’t burn my eyes. I gave up on mineral sunscreens because they kept pilling and also get in my hair and I'd just have little white clumps and streaks.
Question about layering sunscreen and effectiveness - can I layer a high spf chemical sunscreen with a lower spf tinted mineral one and retain the higher spf?
Just today i was outside all afternoon. Even though i reapplied sunscreen throughout the day, my face and shoulders still ended up sunburned. I don't know if the SPF or type of sunscreen is to blame. I used an SPF 30 spray. It also doesn't help that sun sensitivity is a medication side effect for me.
Spray would not give you the amount that you need for the first layer even if you empty the whole bottle. Spray is for re-application. If you are going to be out in the sun, maybe make re-application more frequent. Just so you know, sunscreen protection is not foolproof 100%. Not staying in the sun extended period is better.
I have been using Clinique city block for years, what do you think of it? I like the shade, so natural just like foundation, and it doesn't sting my eyes, I have very sensitive skin, my skin loves it.

When it comes to chemical v mineral, I have had far more issues with chemical sunscreens on my face burning my eyes, so I favor mineral on my face despite the white cast. That said, I will use chemical sunscreen everywhere else in my body.

I'm just curious to know the difference between sunscreen and sunblock. Which works better for the body? And sunscreen seems to be a bit more available for purchase than sunblock? Is it possible you gentlemen may be able to do a short reel on the matter 😄😄 pweeeeezzzz
I wear sunscreen everyday no matter if I am inside or outside! I have had different spots that have been frozen and one was on my face. I think the lowest SPF I will purchase is a 44 and my best is a 50 SPF. I have been asked why I wear sunscreen in the house and my question is don’t we have windows? Some people never think about that.
I switch from chemical sunscreens to mineral sunscreens and later to K-beauty sunscreens on my face because when chemical sunscreens get in my eyes, it burns. It took a lot of trial and error, but I finally found something I can use on a daily basis. I use a different sunscreen on my body.
Along with sunscreen the best thing to do is to cover up a little (in the summer tho ) . And u ‘ll see how ur healthiy skin live longer and u won’t have saggy skin
I try to use as many natural products as possible, so I lean more towards using mineral vs chemical sunscreens. There’s so many brands out there to choose from whether you want chemical, mineral, or combo, but unfortunately they cost so much money & you have to use a lg amount to get the protection you need. So it’s extremely expensive to use every day as needed! That’s probably the main reason why people are trying to make their own. I can’t afford to buy what I feel are the more safe ones out there to choose from & use them daily in the amounts suggested bc they’re too expensive. But I would definitely never try to make my own! 😬 I try to get ones I feel the most comfortable using that I can afford.
@@KingSugi3 I meant as safe as possible. Lol! I don’t think there are totally safe sunscreens out there, unfortunately. I just meant some brands and types that might be a little safer than others. Regardless of what kind a person uses, they’re all so expensive when you use the amount they say you’re supposed to use on a daily basis. I tend to lean a bit more on using mineral ones. But I know there’s drawbacks of both kinds.

I was told today by a dermatologist to stop wearing sunscreen and all moisturizers and use tretinoin. And if I was going to be out in the sun all day use the lowest form of sunscreen preferably spf15. To give context I went to the deem because I had about 2 pimples and 5 small comedones I've been trying to get rid of for a few months. Would you ever recommend a patient to not wear sunscreen???
I tried eltmad it turned Cheeto orange even with lightest tint. Drying as well. 63 years old not really sensitive skin but I’m careful with ingredients. Expensive fail for me.
I'm in Australia, & Korean & Japanese sunscreen isn't recommended for use for Aussies; the sun is just too harsh. We need a diesel powered sunscreen here! 😅 BUT, American sunscreens also don't pass Australian standard tests; so I'd be interested to see how the Korean ones stack up against the US too.
They also have standards based on scientific recommendations in Korea and Japan, these places don't mess around with skincare. With that being said, be aware that there are fake ones being sold online with packaging that is similar to well known brands (like beauty of Joseon) and those will not protect you adequately.
Hello hope your well.😸Have a question for you. What do you think about the Foreo washing device that a lot of people use to wash the face, do you think it’s safe or not? Thank you have a nice day.😸
I hate wearing mineral sunscreen but I think I may be developing an allergy to chemical sunscreens. Whenever I apply chemical sunscreen to my face, after an hour or so my eyes begin to burn. It does not seem to matter how far away from my eyes I keep the product either. And all the products I'm using come highly recommended and unfortunately for me, they were all pretty expensive.

Do you guys know if the Elta MD UV clear sunscreen in the new packaging still has 5% niacinamide? It appears to have slightly different ingredients and the 5% claim has been taken off the label. Thanks! 😊
I’ve had an allergic reaction (similar to a chemical burn) to Mychelle, bobabotanicals and summer Fridays mineral milk. Any thoughts on what ingredients could have caused this?
I really like elta md uv clear and keep going back to it after trying other sunscreens. I wish they would make a middle tint though because the light tint is a bit too light and the deep tint is a bit too deep for me adter reapplication. Also wondering if you apply a water resistant setting spray over sunscreen does that now make the sunscreen water resistant?
What about this one: its pointless to apply sunscreen in the morning if you cant re apply it throughout the day. It has no benefits and is a waste of money and time. True or false???
Here in Australia getting enough sunlight for Vit D synthesis is NOT a problem! However, getting skin cancer IS a problem. That's why these moronic influencers scaring people about sunscreen or making inadequate sunscreens drives me nuts! And as @LabmuffinBeautyScience says "Everything is chemicals"
Can you do a post on beard oils apparently they're for the skin mainly more than the beard to promote healthy beard growth, reduce flaking etc but most contain essential oils which from so much of what I've watched is a big no no for skin. Thanks dudes.
Is Elta MD truly reef safe? I'm genuinely asking because I have no idea. That's my main concern with sunscreens. Most are very harmful to the oceans and some "reef safe" sunscreens still contain harmful (to the ocean) ingredients. I find it quite difficult to find a sunscreen that'll actually protect my skin (I'm on the water for work and fun a lot) and isn't harming the reef. I'm from Mexico and here I have found a national brand that actually protects both my skin and the ocean, but feel it's hard to find a commercially availbale sunscreen that fits these descriptors without it costing and arm and a leg or only have it be available in boutique shops..
Not if the sunscreen tint is more sheer and the lotion is lightweight. I use the elta MD uv clear tinted, and it doesn't have any buildup at all, especially the deep tint. It's kinda amazing because I was worried it would. If the formula is more thick and like a bb cream then it may cause buildup.
Doctors, doesn't coconut oil sometimes cause break outs? And I use two types of sunscreen one for my face and one for my exposed areas. I just saw something about a mineral deficiency causing age spots any truth to that?
I don't use any sunscreen, but I wear wide-brimmed hats and large sunglasses. It's been working out for me, because I tried all kinds of sunscreen, and they just didn't work for me no matter what shade or tint they came in.
It baffles me why someone would think they could produce a consistent sunscreen mixing it up in a kitchen bowl when it takes companies testing and spending real money on getting formulas safe for use. Natural doesn't always mean safer - fine example of that is arsenic.

When it comes to chemical v mineral, I have had far more issues with chemical sunscreens on my face burning my eyes, so I favor mineral on my face despite the white cast. That said, I will use chemical sunscreen everywhere else in my body.
You two are so adorable AND knowledgeable 😊 I trust your reviews of products and base my purchases on "would Dr. Shaw and Dr Maxfield approve of this? 🤔 thank you both for a vonderbah channel 🎉
I get you. It takes a long time to find sunscreens of preference.
EltaMD UVClear is my favorite sunscreen untinted.
Along with sunscreen the best thing to do is to cover up a little (in the summer tho ) . And u ‘ll see how ur healthiy skin live longer and u won’t have saggy skin
That's why as far as even application goes- that's why I get sunscreen sticks. It's so much easier 😫
I try to get ones I feel the most comfortable using that I can afford.
What exactly are the “good lol and “safe” brands that you speak of? Put me on.
Doctors , pls review on Korea sunscreens. Thank you.
Can you talk about Fractional Carbon Dioxide and exosomes for eyelift. Thanks for your videos.
Off topic but I tried the Script tret compound cream and its fantastic.
Oh no! After watching the video you guys did on Dark Spots wanted to get the formulation Dr Shah came up with for a good friend... But no shipping to the UK 😭
now we have shipping!
@@Doctorly Yaaaaaaaaaay! Just placed an order to get friend an early Christmas present (chucked the lip thing in for me while at it), but just a quick observation - I just tried to checkout via PayPal and it still has you down as not shipping internationally... S'OK, I just took another route but I thought I'd mention it in case you weren't aware 🙂
Love that you guarantee no messing with customs charges at our end too 🎉
@@Doctorly... Here for ya if you ever need to consumer trial products on an extremely pale Brit with fairly even, slightly dry, perimenopausal skin 🤣
Hello, if you have the desire and opportunity. Please record a video about body care. Do you need scrubs and washcloths. And how often to use them. What creams to use for the body❤
Currently have the EltaMD, but I don't like it at all😢 My skin feels so dry after applying it. I was hoping to love it, but that was not the case.
Will definitely be going back to Drmtlgy sunscreen.
Ugh, I loved the EltaMD UVClear until last year it caused a massive reaction on my neck and can no longer use it :(
May I ask a question about hydroquinone and vitamin c?
Thank you.
Yes
Hydroquinone linked to cancer so be careful
Doctors, please give information about sun tan remover medicine
I tried eltmad it turned Cheeto orange even with lightest tint. Drying as well. 63 years old not really sensitive skin but I’m careful with ingredients. Expensive fail for me.
Is Korean and Japanese sunscreen as effective as American sunscreen based on medical standards?
I'm in Australia, & Korean & Japanese sunscreen isn't recommended for use for Aussies; the sun is just too harsh.
We need a diesel powered sunscreen here! 😅
BUT, American sunscreens also don't pass Australian standard tests; so I'd be interested to see how the Korean ones stack up against the US too.
Thank you have a nice day.😸
There’s so many good sunscreens 🧴 out there tested why try to make your own and risk it 🤷♀️
Good morning. Please do a review about medicube.
I would love Elta MD and looked in to getting it but I just can’t justify £35 a bottle when I got bills to pay😭😭😭
Have you tried the Korean ones? Like skin1004? I have very sensitive eyes and it doesn't bother them one bit
Also beauty of Joseon :)
@@Vegan_Vlogs No, I haven't. But thanks. 😊 I've heard that they are good. I think it's time I look into trying some for myself.
I thought it said “Sunscreen my this” 😂
I thought it said "sunscreen my ths" and I was like 🥴 my god I'm burnt out
@@keileen8357 I saw his expression on his face on the thumbnail and so my brain read it as “Sunscreen my ‘this’” thinking he was applying sunscreen where the sun don’t shine 😂
I'm so sick of hearing people say that the sun doesn't cause cancer, it's the sunscreen😆
Lmaoooooooooooooooo ara Hye es?? Your skin looks so good I would have never guessed 😭😭😭
Are sunscreen Sticks safe and effective?
What do you guys think about the recent EltaMD UV Clear formula alteration that’s anecdotally causing a lot of people to break out within the past two months?
Do you guys know if the Elta MD UV clear sunscreen in the new packaging still has 5% niacinamide? It appears to have slightly different ingredients and the 5% claim has been taken off the label. Thanks! 😊
I’ve had an allergic reaction (similar to a chemical burn) to Mychelle, bobabotanicals and summer Fridays mineral milk. Any thoughts on what ingredients could have caused this?
Can both of you creative a new affordable hybrid sunscreen for us we will support you thank you
What do you guys think about ISDIN?
I really like elta md uv clear and keep going back to it after trying other sunscreens. I wish they would make a middle tint though because the light tint is a bit too light and the deep tint is a bit too deep for me adter reapplication.
Also wondering if you apply a water resistant setting spray over sunscreen does that now make the sunscreen water resistant?
What about this one: its pointless to apply sunscreen in the morning if you cant re apply it throughout the day. It has no benefits and is a waste of money and time. True or false???
Well if you are not perspiring profusely, you would have quite a decent amount left on the skin for some protection, better than none.
Why can't you reapply throughout the day tho?
Hi dr, I saw u r listing the suncreens are only UVB, u are not showing or speaking about UVA?
Hi , is there a good aftershave for men post haircuts? I need something that is gentle, is good for ingrown hairs and irritation.
OH so you're just not going to mention the effect of chemical sunscreens on coral and ocean health? OH okay.
Check out Lab Muffin Beauty, she covered that issue
Here in Australia getting enough sunlight for Vit D synthesis is NOT a problem! However, getting skin cancer IS a problem. That's why these moronic influencers scaring people about sunscreen or making inadequate sunscreens drives me nuts! And as @LabmuffinBeautyScience says "Everything is chemicals"
😂😂😂. Have you seen the video with someone using a lintroller to remove a sunburn?😮😢
Reef safe has been debunked and is now only a marketing term.
Can you discuss tazarotene?
Doesnt the colour of tinted sunscreens build up heavily when you apply 2 fingerlengths of it every 2h?
Not if the sunscreen tint is more sheer and the lotion is lightweight. I use the elta MD uv clear tinted, and it doesn't have any buildup at all, especially the deep tint. It's kinda amazing because I was worried it would. If the formula is more thick and like a bb cream then it may cause buildup.
Doctors, doesn't coconut oil sometimes cause break outs? And I use two types of sunscreen one for my face and one for my exposed areas. I just saw something about a mineral deficiency causing age spots any truth to that?
Help what can I do to avoid beard burn from kissing
Do you guys know about any sunscreen that is really mattefying and water-poof that is available in the US?
I don't use any sunscreen, but I wear wide-brimmed hats and large sunglasses. It's been working out for me, because I tried all kinds of sunscreen, and they just didn't work for me no matter what shade or tint they came in.
My rosacea makes it very difficult to use a chemical sunscreen. Ultra MD does not work.
@@ej2873Please try Korean sunscreens. They are very luxurious feeling and the best part is they are cheaper than American drugstore brands.
Dr Shah, How many pumps of elta md make 2 finger length? I never got that right
