what does a 100% tax on chinese EVs in the US say about the U.S. automanufacturers? They are unable to compete and need the government to make a closed market? How will they compete globally if they can't handle the heat?
Kodak! Blockbuster! Here we come!
Hell speaking of government subsidies Ford is in partnership with SAIC, a CCP based company! Talk about socialism at its finest! Perhaps the US Government should partnership with Chinese automakers here in the US! After all is fair in love & war! NASA Motors perhaps?
US never able to compete with any product. The only time they can compete globally is when they have a monopoly or when the rest of the world was destroyed like after WW2.
See also the US steel industry for an example of where protectionist policies get you.
That’s exactly what it means. If everything was equal, China has a labor cost advantage. Ford and GM need help but still may fail. Tesla should take advantage with a low cost model but Musk is a stubborn gambler.
There is 1000 startups of EVs in China. Only cutting edge innovation survives.
Not only. There is a low cost strategy as well.
This is patent play. The buy the company for the patent and tech that they hope to license/sell to US companies
wrong china stole all their EV tech from tesla.
I think it is a cover to " steal " Chinese technologies to catch up in EV industry😂😂
Turn around is fair play!
100% agree look for them to want to move production to the US only to have it fail as the US and the American mentality is lagging behind the rest of the world
@@aomurdocktrue if the U.S./Americans had the ability to make it work. Unfortunately the U.S. is already too far behind to catch. The U.S. is headed towards its US Titanic iceberg Debt that's going to undermine all its hopes of ever catching up or being competitive
wrong china stole all their EV tech from tesla.
Everyone stealing from Everyone.
I'm glad. The cars had extremely cool designs
cool designs..???
THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS I SAY 75 PERCENT OF THE CAR MANUFACTURES WONT GO BUST HENCE I DONT BELIEVE IN SONY SEBA PREDICTIONS OF 75 PERCENT GOING BUST. HE PROBABLY LOOKING AT CHINESE AUTOMAKER SITUATION.
I think that what happened to Hi Phi will eventually happen to Fisker. Maybe, the saving investment will be led by Henrik Fisker himself - but only after all dead cat bounces have been exhausted…
Investors from America just got f*cked in the ass by their own government's subsidies. Classic.
Import restrictions don’t apply to domestically produced EVs. So they’ll set up a manufacture or subcontract an automaker in the US. The cars have a gaudy look that Americans like, so my guess it would be a U.S. OEM that’s the arms-length corporate interest.
wrrr
Ilollipop maybe engage your brain before commenting 🤪
Just think if this, that the tech on the failed car company may be worth the buyout and the associated risk. The Cadillac Lyric is a comparable in ugliness.
No, they didn't
10% for the big guys should solve the export problem to usa
iAuto.... all those Apple car development employees got together and incorporated and trying again???
Is Henrik Fisker involved?
Top-notch team, big developments expected from Revux soon!
Presale steal alert: Revux low price is a golden opportunity!
Another one for the 'step back and see what happens' list.
Maybe the investors simply want the technology but don't want to restart the production line.
Or, maybe this brand was going to be or was associated with the now dead so-called Apple car.
It's not a subsidy but investment in US definition.
*Hi-Five HiPhi* 🖐
Progress impressed: Tracking Revux development with keen interest!
Seems that the friends of the lawyers and some judges in Delaware are already investing in their own car company using money honestly earned that is not yet settled.
My wild guess, HiPhi reminds me of Faraday Future. Edit: Faraday Futures also appears to be in financial trouble.
The economy looks like The Lawrence Welk Show with all of the bubbles
With the crackdown in real estate
The Chinese just have no where really viable to park their wealth these days
Their Government is pushing them to invest in technology
Where China already leads the world in 37 of 44 critical technologies of the future
Or they have gold as a save haven investment
Increased confidence: Just upped my holdings in promising Revux!
Smart move since US automakers are behind in EVs. Always thought hiphi was a technological tour de force but their cars were 🤮 looking. A case of just because you could doesn't mean you should in design.
My only surprise is that BYD didn’t swallow it. They look like good cars.
BYD has the capability to develop one, why would it need to swallow it? The American investors decision actually made sense, they need the tech. It is a better investment than invest in Nikolai or Lucid. I suspect they are just buying this company for the tech, then bring the IP to the US company to produce EV in the US.
if they want a cyberpunk car brand they can just make one
BYD likes to have everything in house.
Geely is the one that likes to buy up failing brands like collecting pokemon.
BYD have their own exotic brand YangWang.
Maybe this "I Auto" have manufacturing facilities (or can procure some) in North America?
If so they could manufacture here, and sell here, as well as exporting to places like Europe, and even places like Ethiopia.
Very limited market for such high end cars??
@@simonpannett8810
Yes, and no.
Yes, only a relatively small percentage of the world population could even afford such vehicles, but, though the market is limited, IF the people who are in that market like the product it will sell well in their demographic.
That would mean a lot of profit for the people building such a vehicle.
The consumer pays the import tax.
I always read carnews china too..
Why didn't they save SAAB, OMG!
Some company saved SAAB, but failed again.
That is a good strategy: buy the bankrupt chinese EV company; get their patents, register them in the US, they close the chinese factory. Next relocate the factory to Vietnam or Mexico and rebrand the company as American.
America shouldn't even respect China's patents. They don't respect American ones. America should just allow their companies to copy anything China does. Why pay for them? China doesn't.
Then... Sell the little $80,000 diamond plated gems for $120,000 to .5% of the population instead of 1% of the population. Now THAT will really put a dent in the bottleneck of electrification. 👍
Literally you mean America is theft every thing they have are stole from other countries I get it
But won’t the patent applications be denied since the Chinese “acquired” the information from the west in the first place as part of their “advanced R&D” network?
what patents?
I think they were turning a corner. I know the Z lookec really cool, but the suv they were going to release looked pretty mainstream.
Their cars are simply too expensive to save them 🙂
First again...what a man.
Believing in vision: Revux continual learning sparks confidence!
I bet them investors were happy
That happens when you drink too much.
Happy to a point… bankrupt is bankrupt previous investors will get pennies on the dollar back if lucky
Grey import through Canada like Sandy Munro did
It would still bankrupt. Only save it for few couple month
Crypto world needs Revux: Its use case is groundbreaking!
Early birds catch the worm: Presale investment success with Revux!
Isn't that a good thing? Chinese EV market is extremely competitive. With 50 plus brands in it, of course, only the best of the best can survive. As a consumer, I hope we can have all brands here in our market. I want the best value for my hard earned dollars.
Thailand has always had a 200% import tax. That's how they get the companies to build factory's in Thailand
That's why you only export rice and durians!
@@bubuneowoo6161 best comment ever
India is living in the same paradox unfortunately

Thailand makes trikes and bikes
@@larryc1616 and these trikes and bikes are not selling elsewhere that's the whole point
It will go bankrupt anyway. And naive investors will be a little smarter afterwards.
Even the not so good chinese EV companies are way ahead of western EV companies with exception of Tesla
@@chriswilliams8607 China went from more than 1000 OEMs in 2020 to just over 90 OEMs in 2024. They are high subsidized by the Chinese government, but none of them are profitable. The only HIGHLY profitable Chinese EV manufacturer is a foreign brand: Tesla. BYD is also considered profitable but they make most of their profit on their hybrids - very thin BYD profit or almost none in their EVs.

I don't have a bloody clue lol cheers mate
Glad to hear it. HiPhi cars are such oddball futuristic vehicles and I love seeing them here in Beijing.
hiphi cars are just too weird even for me lol
What? After 100% tariffs and this is happening?
and they buy the most expensive selling car brand during a 'recession'. 😮
Investors know where future is bright ❤

Bull run watchlist: DOT, VRA, SOL, and Revux RVX!
Smart ev car
HiPhi seems to be great, so why isn't it as well-known as Huawei and Xiaomi?
In fact it has been criticized several times as 'lack its own tech',compared to other brands;and the price is unaffordable (about 100k dollars)comared to its competitors.
@@Braunschtiz thanks👍
Huawei and Xiaomi are already famous for their phones and their news (such as US banning Huawei). HiPhi sounds like a normal word hi-fi and not yet well-known.
Their problem is because they dont own any technology. Human Horizon also dont own any production facility.
Sounds like they're not a car company at all if they have no production facilities....the subsidiary of someone.... Some kind of licensing and leasing company
@@13thbiosphereAlmost like Xiaomi but at least Xiaomi own their tech, patents and giga press despite using someone else factory
@@yulusleonard985 The China government will evaluate their technology to determine if it is worth pilfering .

Whitepaper revelation: RVX is the future of crypto according to Revux!
Damn, I rather see it failure than took by American.😂
Yeah they wanted to buy up this Chinese EV auto manufacturer and it's production operations so they could fly over there... and more accurately ascertain exactly how far "2 years ahead of" China's manufacturing advancement Tesla and American EV manufacturers were. It was all for your next headline "Tesla Light Years Ahead Of China In EV Tech"
The impetus would be acquiring a facility or manufacturing under subcontract in the U.S.
Shop like a billionaire in temu😂😂😂
Mercedes Benz saved Tesla in 2008.....
Actually, MBenz bought 10% stake ($50M) in Tesla in 2009 during the financial crises. And they sold their stake in 2014 for $780M. Nice profit. But, it would be much much higher today if they had kept it. And Mercedes still does not know how to make EVs profitably.
No, Obama did
China saved Tesla in 2019 and then again just recently allowing Tesla to partner with Baidu who has had 4 million paid robotaxis rides up to Q3 of 2023
Tesla wasn’t profitable until they entered China got that production fixed and got that Chinese domestic market
HiPhi's market is aimed at the ultra rich. That is a itsy bitsy market - a niche within a niche. And the ultra rich in the US and Europe would rather be dead than get caught riding a cheezy Chinese car named hi-five.
If only they had named it by a fancy European surname they would be a success.
Heck, the cars are really beautiful. By far more beautiful and appealing than Tesla and BYD. 🎉
...then buy one...

the new american car made in china, stop believing expensive is better, sometimes, mostly not.
people starving to death here in America and this is what the billionaire spend their money on
I have been in the US for 30 years I have not seen anybody starve to death. Here there are foodstamp, food banks...and the food is relatively cheap in supermarkets. Most people died on the streets because of drug overdose.
wonder whether they can ship the factory somewhere else to avoid the import taxes?
I think they can sell the in the US for 200k but that's not a Big market. Hope they don't sell them with chademo and sn adapter like they did in norway (as i saw in Bjorn nyland 's Channel)
Why can’t we all just get along? All these failing EV companies are negating what little environmental potential their cars could have brought to the market. I would love to see more cooperation between all continents instead of this wild west mentality where one group just enjoys watching the other group crash and burn. Instead of counting their billions, they should invest into our common future. What’s so difficult to understand?
Is your job at stake?
World got scared of the rise of China

Brought back to life but derailed by Biden. 😅
Take the technology and marry up with Tesla FSD and make it in North America and China - might have some upside.
That thought infringes on patent rights. Are you Chinese?
Famous for what?
Nobody wants them, can't give them away.
You can see why no one wanted to buy them. They are in an overheated market where its almost impossible to survive.
Neanderthals! USofA
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Sell HiPhi to Philippines. Hahahaa
Those investors will just lose money…. Chinese EVs are dead all over the world….
They are here eat Cadalic s Lunch
Hi Phi built very good EVs . The USA Government just destroyed the USA INVESTORS business plans building good EVs in the USA.
🤔💔👎
I want to say something controversial. I don't want Chinese EVs to fail. But I don't want them in USA "for now" because the stupid american automakers are doomed by short term quarterly results and stock games and are not dying in a controlled demolition. Let's agree to a fee-bate (rocky mountain institute) transition to tiered/gradual tax AI and chinese EV tax to pay for unemployed US auto workers and slowly allow chinese EVs into the US market as GM and ford collapse shrivel and consolidate their remaining assets into a new company called "American Motors" that licences tesla tech onto different skins.
Thank you for Joe Biden with free trade
