Did you look for a 4 axis? Or 3 + summing?with 4 ports? Thus dro will add 2 axis together for the combined quill and Z👍👌🇦🇺
no I didnt think about it at the time but wish I had. I may look at moving this one to the lathe and get a bigger and better one for the mill.
@@CavemanAston my mill has a quill too, I've got the lcd dro and I really like them, but quill axis summing would be sweet. Clough42 does a vid with a dropros unit, worth a watch👍👌🇦🇺
@@adhawk5632 thanks. Ill check it out. Maybe ill be spending some money soon....
Hi Caveman. I like the way you managed to fit the scales and readout without having to drill holes in your machine. I fitted a very similar one to my mill (also very similar} about 9 months ago and the video has been surprisingly successful. I think you did a much better job of explaining all your decisions and what you were doing better than I did. A couple of things caught my eye, the little red brackets on the read heads are transit brackets and should be removed once fitted. Also, I think you should take another look at your y axis scale and see if you can turn it the other way up, I don't think those lip seals will keep the swarf out for long looking up at it. I got a Chinese manual with mine, so have managed to find the English version. If you need a copy, let me know.
Hi @ollysworkshop Thanks for the comment. I left the bracket in the video because I was still taking the scale on and off between shots but they are off now (pretty sure I remembered to take them off) and I have covered the Y axis with some rubber sheet stuff that keeps it free of mess but did that after the video.
So far it has all been pretty easy and straight forward but thank for the offer.
"AlumINIUM..." Gets me every time. It's ALUMINUM! hahaha Great job, great vid!
Hi David, I am glad you like the video. For reference both are correct ways of spelling / saying but Aluminum is specific to north America while most other places use Aluminium.
Hi CavemanAston do you remember where you purchased this DRO? Thanks
Hello hownotto ! any luck with finding supplier , I am also looking for one
