No because the front differential is integrated in the oil pan of the engine. The subframes and suspension is different from the m240. Since BMW makes an AWD s58s, it’s much easier to bolt in an AWD subframe and oil pan. Knowing BMW, it’s probably a direct fit from g80 to g87. Putting the s58 in the m240 would also require an AWD s58 oil pan, but then also a custom wiring harness, the cooling system would need to be redone because the brackets are all different, the rear subframe and differential would be different unless also modified. It’s doable both ways, but far easier to keep the m engine in the m car.
@@alextasarov1341 the s58 engine bolts right to the m240i subframe, they have the same differential and location. same engine mount locations etc. i have both cars and ive already got a 3.2l engine, pure stage 3 gearbox , carbon driveshaft, axles etc and i thought about doing this swap already when both my cars were torn apart for upgrades . we have an m2 that we already had to drop the sub frame on in the shop and i sized it all up already . its all oem parts, it will fit, and to make it all work, you need to send the DME to femto, have them flash it as if its a g80 x drive. go back and re flash it to the m2 chassis and modules. a simple recode of the TCU will allow the awd 8hp76 and transfer case to work, its just a few settings to turn on and it will think its a g80, but everything will work, you can even code in the m2 guages and what not. the only issue with that is the b58 makes way more torque and is a faster engine. the s58 will never beat a b58 to the 330' mark. 1300whp m240i are destroying 1600whp g80s that weigh the same for reference. our m2 is slow as shit, my m240 when it was bone stock, with just e30 fuel no tune at all, shiiiiiiiiiiiiiit on the m2 in every aspect and type of race we tried. - plus the m2 looks like a subaru from behind.
@@alextasarov1341 The m240i and m2 have an identical chassis. So, I really don’t see how you get the fitment would change. I’m not even convinced that the subframe would have to be swapped, but even if so, that should be it. The m240i is already awd, thus all parts are in place for awd. You’re literally just marring the engine to the tranny. Yes, the wiring harness would be changed with the engine, but that’s about it.
@@daxxr2532 I didn't know that the m4/m240i were the same. I just knew that the m2 and m240i were. So, with that being said, that makes even more reasons to just drop a S58 in the 240i and call it a day.
Huge potential to sell a conversion kit with all of the necessary parts to swap from RWD to AWD when you guys get it working. I know a few people that would be in the market especially if its more economical than just trading in the car for an xdrive model. One of the biggest driving factors for me getting a G42 over a G87 was the xdrive, i loved it in my F22 M240 and would love to upgrade to xdrive S58 and keep the 2 series. Looking forward to next episode!
Probably a case of how big is your bank account. Can't remember if they made manual xDrive or RWD only, but I'd imagine you'd be able to swap gearboxes, remove front xDrive components and go from there. Somebody who knows better than I do will probably tell me I am talking bollocks. Always seems easy from an outsider's perspective tbf. Manual touring would be awesome!
Never been so excited for a series. Hurry up and finish this up please!!
It is a work in progress...
Releasing the new M2 CS before BMW. Epic 🔥
Got to be ahead of the game!
Wouldn't make more sense to put this engine in an m240i which is already awd? Or instead of looking at an m3 awd grabbing the awd from the m240i?

I was going to post the same thing, G42 m240i shares the M4 chassis and x drive

Well let's hope we can make it happen!
i want to see the next video asap🙌
It is coming!
Wild...
Trying to be different!
Can you guys do an F8X M X drive conversion next? 😅
Maybe one day! But G series only for now.
G series is what's popular now... More views
This should be interesting
Super cool!
Thank you. The German R34 GTR but you can switch it to two wheel drive. Your building my dream car. Just needs the £35k package to become a legend
Just you wait...
Immediately subbed. Looking forward to future developments
Means a lot!
Buy a wrecked m240 x drive for parts
Yaaasssss💯✅
Would it be possible to convert xdrive to manual and rwd ? asking cos tourings dont come in manual.

Let’s gooooo
Time to make this thing move!
To do all this just get M4
But it's not an M4 it's an X Drive converted M2
I’m gonna sub to follow, cause I’m confused at the moment as to “why”.
Bunch of info missing on installing the 4wd lower engine pan and wiring necessary to have it working. Thanks for nothing!!
