He’s my big brother, I was just talking with him last week about this video, and decided to rewatch it. he’s been doing well, and he’s made a good amount of progress with his house. He’s still working and my niece is doing great too!
I’m proud of him, especially since I know how hard he works!
Thank you for this update! 1.4 million know about him, I know God has a mighty plan or his life! This blessed me.
good to hear personal life's like his, thanks for the update. greetings from europe.
Does he have a RUclips channel?
You all have the right concept. Family compound. Stay close and keep the kids even closer. Make sure your brother Can tell he’s learned from any mistakes and understands turning errors around. Make sure he keeps his next move his best move. Don’t share too much. But since he doesn’t have social media… yet that’s a plus. He’s awesome and on the right track! 💪🏾
Thanks for sharing an update. 🙂
What a charismatic guy. Didn't focus on showing off the hopeless, dangerous aspects of the hood, but instead on the hope for the future of Detroit. Speaks volumes about his character. Wish him nothing but the best!
He was someone who uses his time in prison to better himself
yeah sure buy it for $4k , all the copper stolen already, environmental crap to upgrade, put a ton of money in and you are rewarded with 2nd or 3rd highest property taxes in the state, and then it will get broken into and stripped for scrap metal again

As a Firefighter in the area I can attest to the city coming up from the ashes. It’s slowly getting better day by day. The people are fighting for their city and it’s working!! Just 2 years ago 99% of these neighborhoods had no groceries, no banks, no services. Now it’s Detroit’s time to shine, and I’m blessed to be able to witness it and help in my own little way
thank you
Well- hard long hours of works and fixtures brings progress. Lasyness does what Detroit became

Loved that guy who spoke on color! If we could all think like this. Imagine the possibilities and how strong this country could be. The government doesn’t want that. Instead they want us divided. This was excellent video..as always. 🎉
U got that right..can u imagine if all us wht & blk folk joined up and revolted against the b.s. government who screws its own ppl more than any other nation , my opinion anyway
Bingo. The frikkin government. They create the problem then leave the people to fight amongst themselves like dogs. Unreal.

Come on, John, get your own youtube channel and record the building renovation of the house you bought. Nothing fancy. Just documenting the progression from beginning to end. You might grow an audience while spreading a message of hope and positivity, and it might even turn into another side hustle.
I agree, youtuber Ryan Ingram buys and renovates homes, super smart guy, awesome channel for those who want to learn about real estate and business.
I was just about to say this!!!

This channel is like a class in sociology. EVERYONE should see this episodes. It really gives a whole new perspective on others, no matter where they live.
I actually started crying at 29:40. How many guys can say that they had not one, not two, but THREE flawed, imperfect dads? It's gonna sound weird, but he was blessed. Not only did he have multiple good AND imperfect role models all through life, but seeing none of them be perfect is probably what actually enabled him to turn himself around as well instead of derailing entirely.
I teared up twice in this piece. I'm always going to support the hustle.
I really appreciate that this channel isn't about looking at the poorest parts of the world and gawking like a trip to the zoo. He goes out of his way to humanize and connect with everyday people and hear their stories
Agreed, and supporting the local businesses 💪

But that's the stuff I wanna see. Positivity is boring
There parts of Appalachia, Mississippi, West Virginia that are a LOT poorer. Some people don't have electricity.
As a native Detroiter who was born and raised in Detroit, I remember the beautiful city. I hope these folks are right in that it will come back. At nine years old, I would put on my best clothes, hat and gloves and take the bus downtown to see a movie by myself. We lived near the U. of Detroit. I will be 80 years old this year.
This is so wholesome 🥹🤍
@@jemmahopkins5983fr this shit had me tearing, 80 years old, god bless this national treasure
Dang it must felt like a different time for you
Wow.. 9 years old.. tells you exactly why family/community is still resonating in D-Town..
It's people like you who keep the hopes and memories of what could be times 10x how much economic equality affects the racial harmony and society as a whole.. We are being gaslit to think George Floyd was a victim of color when 80% of his circumstances was lack of class mobility opportunity in America..
The BLM movement was brilliant psy-op to steer away George Floyd being a victim of classism.. growing up in poverty which made him commit crimes to likely feed his family at a young age and was thrown in the system of no rehabilitation... white or black... they have the same recidivism rate..
4 other cops present were of color..
This should have been a POOR LIVES MATTER Movement
Even if it was racist instead of rap sheet bias..
There's no more government legislative solutions to justify the past without fueling racism when so many Americans of all colors are struggling, hustling, grinding away themselves..
So sad that movement was co-opted..
As an expat from the Mitten.. I'm proud of Detroit despite the aggregious greed of what the DeepState did to US

Ive been going to Detroit my whole life and one thing I've noticed is how creative people are with making money, multiple jobs doing all sorts. City of Hustlers
Yeah, like the fake parking lot attendants setting up shop during events ,then people come out and their cars are either broken into or towed away
Thing about Detroit is that the people are proud of their city. If you respect the city and the people that live there, you’ll find love and gratitude in exchange.
I love how the young man is from and understands “the hood” but is far more interested in focusing on the future. He’s like, “yeah, this the hood now, but let me show what I’m going to make of it.”
Better yet, redefine the Hood as Family Bettering Together.
I’ve always struggled with “gentrification” being a bad thing.
Respect for sure...
I live on fenkell in between Schaefer and Greenfield, behind abandoned Cooley HS next to a drug house, I made a deal with them...I turned their power on illegally and they look after my house....I was robbed and had to shoot a 12 year old last July at scoolcraft and Greenfield waiting in the bus, I aimed low to not kill him. Since then I never take the bus without my bicycle. I work at Jefferson north assembly and take the bus everyday...it's bad...I was almost robbed last Monday 1am at scotten and west grand, dude walked up very slow towards me I knew he was about to rob me, I hopped on my bike and rode to the next stop, soon as he seen I was leaving he yelled asking for a light! Ya no thanks man....u can't ride a bike more than an hour before u get a flat because half these people ride around smoking blunts and tossing liquor bottles out the window so the sidewalks are covered in glass. Here's something typical by I seen yesterday at the gas station, woman come out with a new born baby and throws it on the lap of a 5 or 6 year old in the passenger side, no seatbelt no car seats, she gets in the driver's and side lights half a blunt, cranks the gangster rap until the entire car was buzzing and rattling and destroying the kids ears, then speeds off over the curb....place is a hell hole these people care less about this city and constantly destroy it. Every drug dealer owns the same 3 cars... U swear to God,. Challenger,...charger or avenger...that's all they buy. Pandemic made these worthless thugs rich as hell.
@@jonathanr9051 it’s a bad thing when it comes to fully populated cities and people are forced to move out of their homes. If it’s a city where many abandoned houses can be rebuilt and the new movers take those houses then it’s fine but not if people are getting evicted from their homes for other people.

I like these US series. It's really highlighting how hard Americans are trying to make the American Dream work in the 21st century. This Detroit series has made me feel pretty proud to be an American. It isn't all sunshine and rainbows, but we are resilient.

i live in toronto, and have been saving for a house. .. screw it! just gonna buy a whole block in detroit. ..buy a bunch of pitbulls and guns i'll be good:)
As an outsider though, it's pretty tragic to watch. Seeing a once great country fall on such hard times. The phrase American dream used to mean something to the world, it's kinda become a sick joke now. Of all developed countries, the US has the lowest social mobility...... Its literally easier to make something of yourself from nothing (the american dream) in Europe now, than in America. This has to change, everyone hopes it can
Love seeing young people make something out of themselves. They’re in the hood but not making excuses. They are working hard and uplifting their community. 💫
What an unbelievable attitude, I respect the hustle. I think he would be a great spokesperson for the young kids growing up in the area, I seriously hope him and his fam are doing well.

I really like John, he’s made some mistakes but he’s not blaming anyone else and he’s learned from his mistakes. He’s a young man who potentially has a great future ahead of him. I think the average person has no idea how hard it is for someone to come out of prison and make something of his life without crime.. sure he’s got a couple of side hustles but that’s what you need to get ahead. I live near Toronto. It's really sad about what happened to Detroit because Toronto and Detroit are similar cities in many ways and the two cities kind of moved in opposite directions. They both used to be about the same size (Toronto is now much larger), both are on the Great Lakes and both are pretty connected to the auto industry (although most of the car plants in the Toronto area were always in the outer suburbs). Even the old architecture looks very similar, but most of those lovely large older homes in Toronto within the city were maintained or restored and are now worth millions. I suppose part of the difference relates to how Toronto was never a one industry town. As well as automotive and other manufacturing, we also have lots of work in financial services, government, technology and other industries. I'm hopeful Detroit can successfully reinvent itself, bring people and jobs back to the city and combat poverty. We have our own problems in Toronto (particularly a lack of affordable housing), but I realize how lucky we are.
I’m from a suburb of Detroit, and wanted to say I also feel those similarities and differences with Toronto, and have always felt a connection there when I visit. I much prefer it to NYC. I was there when Olivia Chow was elected recently, and I’m optimistic about her future for Toronto. With love 💕
I think these young guys getting into house flipping is a really good idea- they can get their own place for their family and also encourage people to move back to Detroit and bring the life back into it.
These are the people you do NOT want to encourage to come back, it took decades to get rid of them.
@@chillwill5080 What do you mean? Who exactly are the people you "do NOT want to encourage to come back"? Please be specific and clear in your meaning and own your opinion if you are going to put it out there.
@@concernedcitizen6572 First, you don't tell me what to do little girl, I would floor you in an instant if you did it in person. Next, the parasites, the social services zombies, that's who doesn't need to come back. I grew up in these very streets, it wasn't until the city finally ran out of other people's money, and there was very little left to steal before the hordes departed to other cities with much fatter taxpayer teats. And now you can literally follow the crime map to see where they went. Chicago, St Louis, Indianapolis and hundreds of smaller midwest cities are currently being decimated by this plague. So go lay back down in your rich, white, liberal neighborhood and wait on your government check for doing nothing to deposit regularly in your bank account.

Interesting to revisit this video after watching the new videos on Appalachia. A lot of parallels. Both regions revolved around a major industry that largely departed, leaving drugs, desolation, and desperation in its wake.
Yep, Americans from all walks of life share the same stories when you get right down to it. But the powers that be like to keep us divided. It's not black vs white or city vs country, it's the big corps and big politicians against all the little guys - that average, everyday, hardworking Americans.
It’s crazy.. they rip away the best thing going for these cities and they’re replaced with the worst things in these cities.
I noticed the parallels, too. Not only the history of a draining major industry and the effects of poverty, but also how the people who succeed keep hope, are willing to work hard to improve themselves and support their family. Family is huge. Hospitality and kindness to everyone, unless they try to hurt you or yours, then they'll take care of what they need to (and they won't need to call the police!). Even the same speech patterns (e.g., "You know what I'm saying?" "You know what I mean?").
There's more that unites us than divides us. Those who try to tell you otherwise either don't know what they're talking about, or they're not to be trusted.
@@desirae3455 completely agree, the politicians want us focusing on race so we are blind to the actual ISM that happens, classism. Will smith can assault someone on live television and not be charged with a crime. That just proves there is a different set of rules for the rich, no matter their color.

I'd like to see a return visit at nighttime and see the difference. Fact is, even the highest crime areas in this country have downtime where bullets arent flying, but that is far from the whole story on a neighborhood. Certain people wont move there for a reason and that reason isnt shown in this video.

Beautiful to see people trying to rebuild the community and opening up their hearts about it on film.
See this is why I love Detroit people (as someone from Cleveland lol). Down to earth with basic common sense. Not even 5 minutes in and the older gentleman outside the church reminds me exactly of my grandfather who, when he retired, was a shift supervisor in a Cleveland steel mill back in the day. Came back from Korea and worked for Republic his whole “career”. Raised by non-English speaking Eastern European immigrants (both dead by the time he was a teenager) in an incredibly “diverse”-in the real sense- urban neighborhood. Grew up and worked with other blue collar people of different races and ethnicities and backgrounds the whole time. I think the “elites” don’t understand that working class people (whether black or white or whatever) and certainly in former big rust belt manufacturing places/scenarios like Cleveland and Detroit (and probably Pittsburgh etc., I just personally know Cleveland and Detroit best) never had any choice but to make shit work despite what the media always claims. They actually were neighbors and lived and worked together and race wasn’t some huge massive point of contention-people were just working in mills and plants to put food on the table and make ends meet. It wasn’t this whole dramatic horrendous hell scape of racial tension like they try to tell us.
Midwest the best❤

Those Detroit houses are solid. Go into any of them, the wood is solid. The architecture and details are still there, they just need a little love an attention to bring them back. They are more solid than most modern homes because the materials that were used to make them last.

Love this! Detroit born and raised, definitely hustlers and love our community 🙌🏼
Anybody can go there yo invest in real estate ?
Beautiful church!! Love the community spirit and wonderful insight. “Treat people how you want to be treated” a lesson for us all.
Even though it's been 5 months you should do an update on John. He seems like a pretty cool guy that loves his City and I noticed about a lot of people in Detroit they have pride and it's good to see people actually trying to fix the city up.
Yes, a update would be great!
Right? I’d love to see how his house came out
@@dejesusjason9936 Yeah that house of his has a lot of potential, I can't wait to see what type of progress he's made on it.
yeah! let's see how John hooked up his 4k house 🙂
@@NextlLvL2u I'm no expert but by the looks of that house it'll take years to make it livable and decent. But I could be totally wrong and he'll get it all done in a year who knows.
Man, I hope the best for John. What a great story he has and what a nice guy he seems to be. Life has dealt him a tough hand, but he’s working hard to make the best of it.
He robbed a store, he dealt himself a tough hand
@@Anonymous-pn4fv Thanks for your input anonymous-pn4fv, no one asked.
We are all aware that he got arrested for a crime he comitted, you may be surprised but that doesn't erase anything else said.
Being born poor makes you much more likely to commit crime, being raised in a culture where teens do that stuff to be cool increases that chance, this isn't justification, it's explanation. "Sticky at the edges" is a term economists use for a reason, people are molded by the culture they grow up in.
It is sad for a person to grow up in the culture he did. He did what most can't due to a disgusting system where instead of aiming to make criminals better, we simply seek to punish them (without rehab). That deserves credit.
@@Anonymous-pn4fv Don't underestimate the environmental influences on behaviour.
@@puckered6036and out of all major offenders an overwhelming majority are impoverished, no one is excusing crimes John himself said in the video that he fucked up, but it doesn’t always show ones full character when they were dealt a bad hand from day 1
Much respect to John and his family. I love his can-do attitude. Cheering on Detroit!
I will be moving to Detroit next year after marrying my fiancé who resides there and works for GM. My first time going was last year from Georgia. I was so sad seeing so many abandoned homes/neighborhoods and schools and the condition of the roads/ school system. He explained the history of the city and took me through neighborhoods and to museums. The people were kind and the food was soooo good. Prior to my trip, I only knew what the media portrayed and didn't look forward to the move. Now I can say I'm excited and look forward to the move.
Congratulations & blessings to your marriage! ❤
🎉Welcome! Congratulations to you, both! An open mind opens doors to different views…thanks for sharing your experience, thus far about Detroit.
The people in this series are a true representation of the people of Detroit. We're good people, we really are. We love the city, we love each other if we've had experience of knowing people from different cultures, as the gentleman said "while doing homework." There's very little true hopelessness here, we're always looking for progress. John, if you're reading this, I'd really like to see you do some youtube updates on your project so start a channel if you haven't done so already. I'll keep checking for you.
I would love to visit your city
I grew up in the Detroit Suburbs, thank you for doing this video. When I was a child in the 60's it was beautiful. The architecture is gorgeous. Great Job!
If ever I'm in Detroit, I'd def. all John for a tour...I know he's going places. So glad for him. Detroit is so much neater than I imagined. Wonder why it's moving up.
being from detroit "I got a guy mike who can do the whole thing for $1400" is the most detroit thing ive ever heard
LMAO great comment 😅😅
I absolutely love it how ghetto it sounds hahaha it's amazing :D
Best of luck to John in achieving his real estate plan, I love a grassroots, hustle and grind story so I really do wish him all the success, along with all of the other business owners featured. Fantastic work once again, Peter.
Can’t believe I’ve just discovered you! Binging all of your vids. Love you! You are awesome! Born in city of Detroit & grew up in the suburbs. Lived in Tucson 3 yrs, SF Bay Area for many years, now in Western NC. LOVING what you are doing sir❣️
Thank you
Kudos to John for wanting to better his life and his hometown! Nice to see a positive spirit in the midst of a difficult existence. ❤
This video shows that people aren't just one-dimensional. Inspiring how Jon's making a legitimate attempt to improve his life and become a contributing member of society.
As a native Hawaiian, I approve of the use of the name for the restaurant.
AWESOME! :-)
This is 2 years ago, the downtown area now has lofts, condos and suburban people are taking over. You can buy a house from the city and they will give you money to fix it up. It’s absolutely beautiful. I’m proud of Detroit. ❤❤❤
I went into this video thinking I would see the result of people doing things the way they shouldnt. Instead, I found what looks like an awesome community that you wish you saw everywhere. Seems like a beautiful place in their own way. I understand its more deep and complicated than that. But from what I saw, they are working together and there is no hate. Beautiful.
I’m Japanese and I’m impressed that hood grown people making clean and nice neighborhood everyone to live nice. Keep up! We need this power movement.
What a likeable guy John is. The city seems to be up and coming once again and it’s guys like John that are at the forefront of that. I’m sure he’s going to do really well for himself and his family.
I’d like to donate $ to John … @peter any idea how.. help with his house
Definitely nice to see. Detroits a potential gold mine with redevelopment
God bless both of yall. I just got on my hands and knees and prayed for John's success. Yall make me want to do better!
As someone who lives in the Metro Detroit area and grew up here, I love seeing this raw footage of Detroit. Everyone here is so kind and loving. I’ve been to countless big cities like LA, Chicago, etc. and it’s never the same type of atmosphere that you get when you’re in Detroit
Same here.,(western suburb), and I agree 100%
What part of L.A.? L.A. is huge.
@@scholageemusic9373 was in LA for about 2 weeks lol. Pretty much everywhere. People have their noses in the air there. The Midwest is where it’s at.
@@avalangley2986 ok I didn't ask how long you were in L.A. I asked WHAT PART? We're you anywhere South of Downtown? We're you in South Central? We're you in Watts? We're you in Willowbrook? Like I'm asking for specifics because people say anything on the internet. If you were in Venice Beach, Santa Monica, Beverly hills and all those places then it is nice. Downtown is trash tho
@@scholageemusic9373 LMAOOOOO I went to Venice, Santa Monica, etc. all the people fucking sucked. Assuming based on your attitude, you must also be from southern Cali 🥴 yikes.
And this is how Detroit is going to be rebuilt. One house at a time. I do home inspections in Detroit and seeing big changes!
I absolutely love this! I wish we could see more of the this side of the community. Us working together starting businesses! Young people too! This needs to be the perspective! Love every sec of it! Every body just trying to make it!
That was all love. Really hopeful future for all the folks featured in this video. It was great to see. I’ve never been to Detroit, and like most others I only heard the bad stuff. That was a great video, I’d love to see Detroit as a vibrant city again, sounds like a lot of good people are doing their best to make it happen.
I no longer live in the city, I've became a suburb weenie lol. When they went to his families barber shop and kitchen that seriously warmed my heart. A family unit that's working hard as business owners. The young man that's taking him through the city, if you see this comment. Stay doing the right thing. No matter how hard it maybe at first, it will pay off. Stay the path.
It's actually interesting the points of view from these guys. Its not like the media portrays (imagine that) . These guys saying they don't see color, and the cops really don't bother anyone unless you hot, doing something stupid. We are all human beings in this world no matter our color. We are all just trying to live our lives the best we can with what we got. If we all join together we could never be stopped. All love to everyone. ✌🇺🇲
The media would have us believe that all black people despise the police and live in constant fear of being hunted down by racist cops. It's important to hear from a young man like this to give us a more authentic perspective.
detroit is super chill all around, ive always told people. gangs arent really a thing and cops are chill
@@trevoranthony8456 Detroit is super chill. Gangs do exist, but they keep their problems between them. Don't want the heat by messing with non gang members and ordinary citizens. I'm a white dude living in Detroit, never had a problem. People of all ages and races getting along just fine and well as much as I can see. Such a great community. Sad we get a bad rap.
Lol “I don’t see color”

I hope John is doing well since this video came out. Hope his house came together well. Like the family business. Looks like a great place to get some food and hang out. Hope John gets back in touch with you. Great video.
I love that you future all sides in each of your videos not just the good side..you allow the people that are giving you the tour to explain everything without interjecting so much
I needed this, so much doom and darkness everywhere else and kinda expected more when I turned this on, and man was I wrong. Saw love, encouragement, pride, determination, strength, drive, positivity, community, family and courage. I really needed this. Love and respect to these people, i hope you all are still growing and doing bigger things.
Agree, Compare to what other cities are becoming. Hearing the Optimism of the people of Detroit means alot to me. Give hope consider they were one of the first cities to fall.
@@jokeboxproductions I am from Harlan County, Kentucky a small tiny place in the mountains, all we have are coal mines in a place that was already pretty much poor and the coal mines are almost dead in our area and seeing this place fall apart is tough. Gives me hope we can turn it around hopefully
This was great to see. I'm originally from Detroit and the way John described the hood is perfect. It's more connected to safety and what might happen around you versus actual appearance. Thank you for showing how beautiful and diverse the city is!
💯🔥🔥🔥
Why would you want him to only post bl@ck people in the "hood"?! This man has an international audience and when you travel, if you travel, you will notice people who live in the Middle East, Asia etc all have terrible stereotypes about us and it's because that's all they see in the media. And here he is AGAIN with another series on bl@ck people titled "hood". Notice every other word from him is "hood". There are many places in America with middle class bl@cks. We should stop being happy for any little exposure if it hurts us! He should go to West Virginia, Ohio etc and cover the extreme poverty and opioid addiction amongst his people!
@@sweetfacelola5540 I'm from Detroit. It's still a predominantly black city. You can check the census records to confirm that. Peter did a great job. I am a Detroiter and I know my city. If it offends you, don't support his channel.

Jon's a real one. Great host. I am really growing to love this channel!
This video was very real, I had my bachelor party in Detroit as a Canadian and we loved it. Never saw what I saw in this video outside of driving past 8 mile.
Good luck to Jon, as he comes over as such as calm, positive, intelligent, level headed guy. A reminder that everyone has their own back story and just because someone is on the up now, doesn't mean that's always been the case. Great to see someone learn and make the most of their experiences and hope that the 'up' continues for many, many years to come.
I really hope John finds success in whatever he does. Really likable guy with goals. I look forward to hearing about Detroit in more of a positive light, and hopefully he’ll be leading the movement.
@Figi Moheder I watched the video like 3 months ago, but if I remember correctly, he said what it was in the video
@Figi Moheder being young and black in a place with no opportunities will cause you to eff up real quick. decent people can get caught up easy its that simple
@Figi Moheder you’re privileged
I found it fascinating where he wanted to leave his car door open so that nobody thought that it was abandoned!
What did not kill us, makes us stronger. I watched Peter's video about Applachian life and he did a good job on that video. These videos will serve to bring us together as a free and connected people. White, Black, Brown, Yellow and Red people are learning how to take care of each other. None of us can survive until we practice humanity to and for each other. Watching these videos will fuse us together. It is going to take time, but sooner or later we will all realize how much we need each other. Thanks to Pete's videos we will all succeed together. Keep working on everybody Peter, you are helping all of us to see each others point of view. Thanks brother.
Being a “Detroiter” (10 mile) and visiting Detroit all my life, I love this. This is a beautiful story. Michigan is one of the most beautiful states in the U.S. hands down, and most importantly Detroit! I think a lot of people in this country don’t understand that and this video helps improve the true vision and story behind what this city is. So much love an respect for my home town and so glad there are people like you spending the time to put in work into showing how beautiful and how rich the culture is in cities like this actually are. Thank you
frrr, it's one of the few states that you can actually visit to see the northern lights (near the UP)
10 mile is not Detroit
You mean Southfield.
u aint
10 mile is not Detroit. 🤣 I live off 12. We're the burbs.
Congratulations on the home purchase John. Props to you for showing the positive parts of Detroit and not the typical hood/ gun toting side that a lot of videos show nowadays.
What a great guy and as he said, once that block comes together it is going to be a great place to live. He is a man of vision.
This episode is so cool: people being positive, hustling, turning their life around in good direction, valuable messages. Good stuff!
The architecture in those brick homes and those beautiful craftsman porches, it would be so good to see it taken care of. Those homes look like they want a family.
I really hope that young man gets his home finished for him and his daughter. I hope more youg people save up and buy those homes when they are affordable and change the neighborhoods to something better than what they are.
Both of these guys are cool man. I've lived everywhere from Alabama to Michigan. 5 states. Small towns to big cities. I lived right outside Detroit for 3 years. I'm telling you, there are good and bad everywhere and I've met them. People are people. City or country, we have our struggles. When I moved to the city, I was a country boy aka fish out of water lol. It was faster paced and a lot more tempers, different cultures, people from other countries, but man I learned so much. It's numbers man. More people, more problems. Between Detroit and all the surrounding cities, you're going to meat people from all over the world. Like minded people tend to flock together, so with me living in Hazel Park at 10 mile and working 3 jobs in 3 cities, 7 days a week, you really understand the word melting pot. One of my 3 jobs was a security supervisor in a hospital in Southfield. I met ladies from the middle east and south Africa. I loved them. They were so nice and told me how happy and blessed they were to be American and how they did it right. They came here legally, worked hard, got nursing degrees, and are living the dream. People who move here from poor countries, war torn or tyrannical countries, appreciate this country more than many people born here. If you're willing to work hard and work a lot, the jobs are there. Do what you have to until you can do what you want to. It took me years of working 7 days a week, not much sleep, 4 hours a night doing college courses online, and another semester of working 2 jobs plus an 8 hour class on Saturdays. Now I work 1 job and make more money than those 3 jobs combined with a 4 on 4 off schedule. Half a year to enjoy my hard work. Years of struggling and stress paid off. If I can do it, anyone reading this can. Don't give up. Keep grinding. Awesome video.
LOVED this video! This young man is a great example for other young men! I wish him MUCH luck with his future endeavors!!
This is the part of the city I was waiting for... Those old houses are so beautiful
I appreciate them renovating those beauty's instead of tearing them down and putting up some modern home. Old homes have character and they're a part of our human history.
Detroit archictecture is incredible. I hope they continue renovating instead of tearing shit down. One of the saddest parts about new buildings in American cities is the lack of personality in the archictecture.
This is a very refreshing watch. I’m from the UK and only hear negative things about Detroit, so this is really great to see. Everywhere has their rough spots and seeing this young man make the most of it and everyone around him filling the community with positive vibes. Major respect!
