@@nolangaubert3589 wondered if you got the 24 model 350? I am thinking of buying one now and adding some things onto it. Wondering what you did with hand guards skid plate and handlebars if anything
Also, how did you find vibrations through the handlebar? Did you feel any need for a flex bar set up or special grips? Sorry to hear about your shoulder! I’m recovering from a broken hand caught in my hand guard during a slow high side in deep mud
Thanks, broken bones go with our hobby 😁. I don’t have any vibration through the bars at all. I did have the flex bar installed on my old 350 and still could feel vibrations. That was many years ago, since then my body positioning has got better and i have a light grip on the bars. I also tightened the steering stem bolt and have the Scott’s damper with std sub mount. I took off bark busters, didn’t like them at all, got in the way of clutch and brake reservoir, busy not enough real estate on the bars. I put the oem flags back on and have had no issues. I have added bar end caps to protect the grips when i drop the bike. I will be uploading a 2000 mile review with things that i changed and modified. Thx
@@rayrokni this is great feedback thank you so much, I’m thinking now of buying a 2024 model and then slowly adding things I want to it like comfort seat, skid plate and Scott’s sub mounted steering damper. Interesting what you said about wraparound hand guards. And you’re indifference to flex bars. I’ll go without them for now and see how it feels. people have been recommending. I leave the front sprocket alone and put a 48 tooth rear sprocket versus the standard 52. I’ve heard this from a couple people that say it’s better on the low end as well as giving you more high-end speed on the tarmac between trails.I’m trying to wrap my head around that versus what you said with the smaller front sprocket it seems like they should be doing opposite things but the feedback I’m hearing is they’re doing the same thing. What do you think about that? Also, any recommended skid plate especially one that doesn’t have to be taken off for the oil changes?
@@jimthorstad I’m uploading my 2000 mile review of the mods that I’ve done and what i think about them for me and my rising style. As far as sprocket: dropping one tooth at the front is equal to increasing 3 teeth at the rear. The stick sprocket on my 2024 is 48 teeth. Reason i drop one at the front is because it’s easier and cheaper and i get away with same chain length. Increasing the rear may mean longer chain or shortening your wheel base ( basically pushing the rear wheel forward using the chain adjuster bolts). Shorter wheel base not as planted as longer. I opted for “molecule” skid plate. It’s thick plastic, i only drop the back end of it with two bolts to change oil. It can be a bitch to put on the two front bolts the first time you put it on but once the front bolts are in and skid plate on for a while, it seems to take shape better, I’ve never taken the front bolts off after initial install. I think i uploaded a video of it under the 350 playlist.
@@jimthorstad here you go. Btw, i forgot to mention one mod, the seat 😁. I did put the seat concept comfort xl. I do like it on the blacktop stretches. It also helps with grabbing the bike when standing as it flats out just behind where your knees are when standing. ruclips.net/video/oS1WoRMV7Rs/видео.htmlsi=kLdj3l2sQTKc0X7L
Did you find the ECU didn’t tame the throttle well enough to justify it? Was that a Taco Moto? version and do you think the smaller front sprocket has anything to do with your experience on the ECU?
@@jimthorstad i got the vortex from Slavens racing. The low, mid and high rpm settings were all at 5. I put it on the bike and went for a test, didn’t give myself enough time to get used to the throttle control and that’s how i busted my shoulder going over a log😁. So I’m going to answer by saying not much difference in throttle taming but i then lowered the low rpm settings to 3 and did feel it was tamer. Now i have it back at 5 again since i have gotten used to the characteristics. I have made a little slack in the throttle cable and that has helped with technical terrain and whisky throttling😁. I also put the airbox reed back in. Much more control on technical stuff. Best mod i have done is dropping front sprocket by 1 tooth. I can lug the bike in higher gears easily. I don’t care about dropping top speed as i never hit top speed on technical rides. I can still go 80 on blacktop if needed though.
Thanks for the video. I bought same bike. Sold my 890 Adv-R. In process of setting up the 350.
It’s an awesome bike. You will enjoy it.
Enjoyed your candid review. Very close to adding a 24' 350 EXC-F to the stable. What's the covering on the muffler?
Thank you. The silicone piece at the back is heat shield for when i put on my kriega luggage
