Small correction at 0:16 neutral stance is NOT the same as closed stance.

brilliant tip, never thought of changing stance based on direction of ball, it makes sense, and I was doing same stance regardless so far

Thank you Chris, as long as you are able to turn the upper body and find yourself balanced and loading for the shot - you are good to go! Uros

Very good video . We could say that the semi-open stance is only one forward step away from the closed stance and that if the player has made time for himself he should ideally step forward so that his weight is moving forward through the ball .

Thank you Andrew! Exactly - depending on the shot received and shot preferred to be sent, you can pick your stance if you have time to do so. All the best, Uros

Another great video and such an important point to get your feet under you - no matter what the stance - so you can hit and recover (after hitting) with balance.

Thank you Sat!! Exactly - your feet are your base for the rest of the shot:) Uros

Good video. I have learned through trial and error everything that you talked about and now I don't even think about my footwork. In the past, I have used the neutral stance more but now I just use predominantly the open or semi-open. I find that I can generate tremendous pace with the open--as much as the neutral. So even bother with the neutral at all unless the ball is short. I appreciate the discussion. Thanks.

Thank you Wally! It's great if you can play without having to think about the stance you use... as long as you are able to generate the force from ground up with good balance and landing so that you can recover. Do you play on hard or clay? All the best, Uros

@@urostennis I love hard courts because the bounce is more predictable. I do play on clay when the hard courts in my club are taken but I do admit this surface does not suit my aggressive style. I can generate very good power by loading up my legs and rotating my torso. I have a good racket flip and very loose arm. Coupled with a heavy advanced racket, helps deliverable a harder cleaner blow. I try not to over swing which throws off my balance but sometimes the ball is in such an idea spot, it's hard to control myself and I will try to line a homerun. haha. Usually turns out in my favor.
