Thank you for this especially using that more expensive cut of meat to show us. I was only hearing negativity about the slow Cooker function so irs one I haven't used. You have definitely changed my mind especially when you advised to heat it up first, I hear that is a must. Thanks for putting my fears to rest. ❤️🤗
I made this recipe. I ended up with pot roast. It needs gravy to make it juicy. Sirloin Tip roast on sale here where I live. $18 for 6 lbs. I have so many nice meals from this.
I’m still a sucker for roasted carrots, so I skim off the beef fat from the roast and toss the raw carrots 🥕 in the oven. Makes me want to cry they are so good!
I make roux several times a week and do it pretty well. I save grease from whatever meat I am cooking. Grease from beef is best. (Chicken grease never browns.) I spoon out whatever flour equals the grease in my frypan. It is a 1:1 ratio. I smooth the flour into the grease and generally go medium heat to get that flour to brown until it's almost burned - but not quite. Sometimes it takes 30 minutes but I don't care/ This dark brown roux makes wonderful gravy and can be thinned out for other dishes too.
You have a pretty voice and look good I like your show just started watching you today I love to cook things meats especially and watching your video is helpful to help me cook something of mines using your video as a technique to I'm not using a crock pot or anything just gonna use a big pot and do it that way to have a different flavorable texture
I have an Instant Pot, so don't have the slow cooker function. However, I do have a regular slow cooker; think, I'll use your recipe and combine the two devices. Love the look of the result! Y'all Be Safe!
@@TheSaltedPepper -- Louise, my mistake; I don't use a lot of the preset function. Will have to give it a try. Oh, yeah, I have A Duo model (both 6qt and 3qt). Thanks for the headsup, Louise. Y'all Be Safe!
Thanks, again, for a great recipe. I read that the slow cooker on the Ninja wasn't great, but this reassured me. I love making my beef gravy with a splash of cider vinegar. It needs cooking off a little before adding the beef stock, but I think it works so well. BTW, your gravy looked the perfect thickness before you thickened it, IMO. Lovely sheen to it. YUM! 😀
Do you ever use potato starch as a thickener? I learned to use that instead of flour or cornstarch when granddaughter was diagnosed with Celiac disease. I like the way it quickly thickens and no lumps form if stired as it bubbles.
Looking mighty fine!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Need to ask question. I have sous vide it, baked it, slowed cooked...OVER NIGHT ON LOW!! Fall apart meat. But...cottonpickin, as soon as I put it in my mouth, I swear my freaking tennis shoes will be more moist and tender than sirloin!! Plzzz, tell me what I'm doing wrong! I love roast and rice. My mom always cooked it on top of stove in Iron skillet! Not that brave yet! Have great evening and week.
It's overcooked if it's tough and stringy. Low is probably not getting enough to break down the connective tissue, but it's overcooking it. What temp did you sous vide? It also can make a difference based on the cut of sirloin and also what grade of meat it is.
Sirloin's always been my go to meat for special occasions (Christmas etc). I don't think we can specify "top" sirloin here in the UK, it's just sirloin. Love your videos as always! Thanks Louise.
Sirloin steak and roast in the UK are called something different in the USA. They call Sirloin steak, "New York Strip" . Additionally, what the USA cause Sirloin is our rump! This recipe is Sirloin tip, which is rump roast in the UK.
What a great video. Thank you so much... btw, I love the spoon you used with the gravy. I use chuck roast to make shredded meat tacos. Would this cut work for that?
Very nice! I am damned cheap so I don't do olive oil or dinky little potatoes. I use cheap veg oil, cut up ordinary carrots and peel potatoes cut into quarters. As for the beef, it costs $10 a pound today in Canada so I am VERY careful to cook it correctly. I use the broth for stew along with left over roast beef. And yay for flour slurry too. Like so many things, cornstarch is damned expensive in Canada.
It's crazy the cost of things now. I went grocery shopping yesterday and was floored to see that a small box of shells and cheese was over $3.00! I don't buy the packaged food so I had no idea the prices had gone up so much. It really does pay to make your own food with whole ingredients and pay attention to the prices.
@@TheSaltedPepper Paid $4.11 for 12 eggs yesterday at a discount store, Mind you, we have government regulated egg marketing boards in Canada. Perhaps they do good work but they also drive up prices. Can't do a damned thing about it.
Can you open the top while it is cooking without having to restart the ninja? I know the lid should not be opened excessively while slow cooking since it releases heat.
Great recipe! Though my meat ended up a bit dry. Which was surprising, considering it was in the slow cooker for six hour. Maybe I should've put it on low?
If the meat was dry, it was probably overcooked. Which brand of slow cooker did you use? They don't' all cook the same or your roast could have been a little smaller or the starting temp of the meat was warmer. Lot's of variables. You can absolutely try it on low, but it will probably take at least 8 hours, depending on your slow cooker.

I put garlic slices into the meat before i sear the roast and I also put Celery Sticks with it, too, adds more flavor.
Ooooo garlic slices. How do you put it in there when you do it?

Hi
If I have the original Ninja Foodie. What setting should I use? It doesn’t have the slow cook mode!
