To be fair, someone disliking the video doesn't necessarily mean they think the playing is bad, or that they're better than he is. They might have come here from the bible verse and not liked the piece, or a variety of other reasons I'm sure. And just because someone dislikes a video doesn't make them a hater. Just someone with an opinion that differs from yours, and that's okay. I like the video. That doesn't make me a fanatic. I absolutely can't take away from his playing. Tight and precise. I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (December 25, Christmas Day), Hebrews 1:1-12 was read as our New Testament Lesson (or Epistle) of the Day. And I hope that everyone reading this has had a Merry Christmas.
His playing blends with the music... knowing when to hit or play the right cymbal at the right time in the song. Knowing when to play the tom tom and floor tom and when to let the music breathe. He's not over aggressive. He has amazing chops and knows how to used them. I guess thats what make a good musician "anointed" musician.
Listen all you haters. The truth is Chris Coleman is living his destiny through hard work and practice . Look at that smile,this is a happy man and I'm am happy that god has blessed him with the gift of rhythm mastery that he shares with all of us. Be humble. I love what Chris Coleman is doing for modern drumming

i grew up in the days of billy cobham. . .i've heard lots of drummers as of late. . .the game has changed thanks to billy. . . . but so far chris. . . . is the best i've heard!
Very nice guy: Last Year i was on the "Musikmesse" and Meinl made a Signing Session. I gave him my Remo Signing Head from before and he just cut trough Remo and wrote Evans above with a Smiley. :D Now it is hanging in my room, will never forget this! ;)
Two comments. One, he is maybe my favorite drummer on earth and this song may be my favorite ever . Killer off the charts performance and I can only dream of being half that good! Two: I would love to have his ride, but will stay with all my Zildjian crashes, splashes, China’s, hi hats, and everything else. And I’m not even sure I would switch rides although I may add it as a big crash and occasional dome. I have about 25 Zildjians and am open to others but not sold on anything else yet. In any case, awesome stuff!

I agree the best musicians you'll ever see like Chris,Dennis Chambers,Vinnie Colaiuta,Steve Gadd,etc. are normally on tour backing a artist or in the studio album credits people (except musicians) don't read.
While I agree with that, you must also keep in mind, more is not always better. Sometimes doing more with less, or keeping it really simple/"little" is the best way to go. Being able to limit yourself when needed as a musician is one of the best traits you can have. :)
Wow, honestly this is an awesome video. I am super impressed by this dude's maturity on drums and his tasteful abilities. Also, these cymbals really do sound amazing.
@gbr1ryder Thanks for the luv :) That snare is a standard 5x14 Delite/SClassix snare. I usually use a (G2Ctd) on top & (300 gage) on bottom. Lately i've been hip to (G2Clears) on tom tops & (ECReso's) on the bottoms. Bass drum is a EQ4.
@BBT609 He's heavy and Short? WOW that make what he does even more amazing in terms of body mechanics and physics. This video is the most clear and usable lesson I've seen in 46 years.

REally dig how he tilts some of the cymbals away from him. Makes sense, as you can grab the sweet spot faster on the downstroke.
