*Great unit that’s easy to install and use. It’s relatively quiet compared to window units and **Fastly.Cool** , and it cools down our whole living room, side room and bathroom; which is a large space for any unit to cool.*
Very informative to the point. A sign of a knowledgeable person is the ability to articulate in a way a lay person ( DIY'er) can understand. Thank you for posting!
Super helpful and informative video. Thank you, for taking the time to show us. Question: What do you do when hanging a fan and the light fixture being removed is a two bulb fixture (two sets of black and white wires)? Do you run all the black and all the whites to each other respectively like you did with the ground wires? Or, do you place a wire cap on each of the black and white wires that are not needed? Thank you!
Hindsight 101 all 5 lights are on one switch. I want to replace one of the lights with a ceiling fan but want it not to be linked to the power of the lights so I can have the lights off and the fan on. I’m guessing I have to run separate power from the switch to the fan?
I'm having trouble with my new fan throwing the breaker when I turn the switch on. There was originally a small light fixture there and I have replaced the receptacle box with a fan compliant box. I'm not sure how to wire the fan because it's in the middle other receptacles throughout the house. Ex. there are 2 house wires with 3 wires each at the fan box. How would I wire the fan to keep the current continuous to the other receptacles?
@@Hindsight101 No big deal. I did figure it out. The electricity needs to loop in order to work. Fan and light works great now! Thanks again for your video. 😊

If I wanted the fan and light on separate switches, is there another way to do it besides having to run another hot wire through the ceiling? I'm in an old apartment and can't rewire. Thx
I took a ceiling fan down to put in a recessed light . I unravelled the wiring that the fan was connected to , connected my light because i didnt think i needed all the wires, turned the breaker on to check the light, so now the light stays on and the wall switch isnt connected to turn it on and off. I tried over and over to get this right and frustrated now. Do you live in ny? I could use you or do a virtual. Need some assistance.
I don't know about this video... but I saw other video when a professional handyman recommend to replace the light junction box for Saf-T-Brace Ceiling Fans. Most light junction box is secured with just two nails or screws on one side to the stud. So be careful guys. Ceiling fans weight from 15 lb to 25 lb.
Thanks for the input. I actually went into the attic prior to the video to check the junction boxes because I had the same thought. I would have taken pics or video while I was up there, but didn’t realize I’d be helping Derrick with this video when I was up there, and it’s a bit of a pain to get up there! Upon inspection though, I found that the house had been built with properly anchored boxes with a ceiling fan rating up to 35 lbs. I couldn’t find the exact model we have on Amazon, but they’re very similar to this, Hubbell Raco 936 Ceiling Fan Box and Support, 4 in , gray amzn.to/3k3kOqX
You should NEVER use a plastic junction box. They are not rated for the fans weight and can fall. You should always use a metal pancake box. Very dangerous.

Cap the extra black and white wire separately.

I have 5 lights in the ceiling and want to replace the center one with a ceiling fan. What do I have to do differently with the wiring?
Not sure that I fully understand what you're asking

You could try getting a dual switch

Thanks much for the tip. How do we know if the ceiling can bear the weight of a 15 lb fan?
Its standard if mounted correctly
So basically the blue wire is like an other black wire? And you use a normal shitch?thank you!
For the most part yes your house may vary. This was a normal single on off switch

You can try smart bulbs and control the lights with your phone

Unfortunately this was not my area of expertise. I was filming my friend in the video who was more knowledgeable

Thanks
I have white, black and red. Would the red be the green then lol????? I dont want to die
Always check the wires with a meter but the black and red should be hot and white will be ground or neutrual
so what happens if you want wall switch controls for both the light and fan? dude... do it the right way...
