  • In this Karate tutorial you'll learn a Ryuei Ryu kata Ohan Dai from Okinawa - the birthplace of Karate. This form consists of techniques from Anan Dai, Paiku, Pachu, Heiku and Ohan. For this reason it's an advanced kata performed at higher levels. It's also used by world champions like Ryo Kiyuna at WKF competitions (K-1 Premier League). Good luck!

If you already know this kata, then you have a point...but in order to learn the bunkai of a kata, you must first learn the kata. Even Iain Abernethy, one of the foremost authorities on bunkai, preaches that.

no need to learn karate, in Bharat there is much more efficient and ancient shastar vidiya, in karate a lot has been lost since martial arts left bharat, including stances and generating punches etc. Karate, including Okinawan karate, doesn't even have the correct way to walk which is the basic mool pentra, way too much length in walking when compared to the tight walking in basic mool pentra. There are channels on youtube where you can be view shastar vidiya, and I don't mean gatka

Meotode, as I understand it, is one of the principles of Okinawan Karate. It's basically the idea that your hands are complimenting and supporting each other: if one is attacking, the other is defending. Of course they play their parts as needed and there is no fixed role to any, but they do it naturally and fluently. There are many names for that kamae you see so much in the kata, really not that important. I'm glad that only the most common movements are the one you give names.
