Trucking Market Update & Forecast (March 10): Where Are The Better Freight Markets Next Week?

  • Опубликовано: 2 июн 2024
  • In this video we will be looking at the Volumes and Rejections, Rates, trucks in the market, diesel prices and where the best markets are going to be next week.
    Volumes (OTVI): This shows us real data of how many tenders are offered by shippers to carriers- how much freight there is in the market. Because offerings happen in advance, we can see what the future volumes will look like.
    Rejection Rates (OTRI): How many contract carriers refuse from loads? This is real time data of loads that were rejected by carriers- the more rejections, the higher the rates, and the more loads end up on the loadboard.

    I finally switched dispatchers. I hired a girl that used to dispatch me when I was a company driver at the last place I work before I went owner op. This was her first week and she really outdid herself. I had about four or five really bad weeks in a row and this first week with her I averaged $2.47 CPM in a DRY VAN! We did that in THIS market!!! I don't expect every week to be like this but having a good dispatcher on your team can make an incredible difference in the week that you have.
    Thank you as always Miranda! You have become part of our week!

    Hello Miranda. Regarding fuel prices, I expect to see prices will increase in the coming weeks due in part to the different formulations as we transition into warmer weather. On a different subject, referring to your video on low rates - please remind new drivers and dispatchers to not accept low rates. As you know, it only encourages brokers to continue the practice.

    It's not a capacity issue. It's not that Bob quit Swift and bought a truck. Bob would haul the same loads no matter who owns the truck. It's all tied to the economy and stock market. Corporate earnings are tanking. They can't raise prices so they have to cut cost. Layoffs and lower freight rates until demand comes back. Same thing happened in last recession in 08.

    How not to fall into double brokering?

    • @TruckingMadeSuccessful
      @TruckingMadeSuccessful  Год назад

      One thing I have noticed is that if a broker is brand new and already has 5 star reviews, a 100 CS and amazing DTP, that's probably a double broker with reviews from inside their own company. Another thing to always be mindful of to not fall for a scam- if a broker calls on your posted truck, always find the official phone number of that broker in Safer, call them back and make sure they actually have that load. Sometimes people pretend to be a broker in a company and in reality they are scammers

    I really appreciate these videos and the information
    But, imo I don't really see how you can book loads off this information. When you book load you need to plan ahead and think ahead. All this information is in the past and the markets changes every hour.
    Stop send your drivers into horrible spots
    You Also say there short loads pay 3$-$4-5$ mile loads
    Why don't you just run those as much as possible to make the most money?

    • @TruckingMadeSuccessful
      @TruckingMadeSuccessful  Год назад +1

      Actually that is not true. Tender rejections that I show you will only translate to the loadboard in 3-7 days, so this is a forecast. We are not looking at loadboard data here. In terms of short loads, you are absolutely right, but the gross is very small in the current market. Running 100 miles for $500 is a great RPM, but considering the fact that we lose the whole day for $500, it's not good. Remember, the gross also matters because there are fixed expenses such as truck/trailer/insurance payments.

    • @brandonchretien5995
      @brandonchretien5995 Год назад

      @@TruckingMadeSuccessful
      For example
      we have been running loads that are 432 miles for $1700 our return load is for $700 about 300miles. We then dead out to our first load. and repeat the process. Its been working well and hope to keep milking it.
      According to the charts you have we should be at like $2 a mile or less. Or something like that.
