@@Hei_Darkfire I was also thinking of editing it in a way that seemed like the MIGs were listening to Hardbass (instrumental) at FULL vol. Like a distant Hardbass that gets louder as the MIGs pass by the F15 and then distant again as they get closer to the gliders. You know, the standard effect of a vehicle with loud music passing by. That would also be funny, especially if we keep sliding the Hardbass playing in the radioish background behind the audio of the Russian pilot replying to Daniel lol.
You know the best part? Those where Mig-29s those are short range Air Supremacy fighters, in other words Those brave Ivans where on a Suicide Run. That truly shows the desperation the people of Earth where in.
Or the russians had an aircraft carrier deployed in the genera vicinity. They saw the goa'uld ships and likely would've deployed all assets, which would include aircraft carriers.
Shurukin srry but su-27k is the only varrient tge russians made that is capable of launching from a carrier, so the op is correct that for migs to go out into the atlantic even as far north sea would put migs fuel dangerously low. So thus it was suicide flight. Unless the brits or Norwegians decided they were ok with refueling russian planes at their air bases. I know the comment of in air refueling is going to come up. Russian air fleet in air refueling is antiquated at best n migs as far as i know are designed for in air refueling
While I agree that it should be one of the Su-27 variant instead of MiG-29, I should point out that currently, Russian start to replace the SU-33 on Kuznetsov with MiG-29K. The original plan was to start replacing them in 2010, but budget reason cause them to be delayed. It's not far fetch to assume something in this timeline make MiG-29K come into commission earlier, or even in place of Su-33 in the first place.
IJN Yamato what? He never said that the Migs were outclassed by the gliders, in fact you are correct in the statement that the Migs would wreck the gliders However it is true that the mig-29 is a short range aircraft. With a range of only 1,400 km whereas the f15 has a range of 1,900 km both without drop tanks, and the SU-27 has a range of above 3000 km. So yes, the mig-29 is short range, that is also not include the fact that the mig-29 can ONLY have ONE belly drop tank whereas most other aircraft have wing pylons to mount multiple drop tanks.
funny, i just got back from russia and they do take alot of pride in the MIG .its just ironic funny in this video that the americans are running away and then asking the russians for help ahah. It not often you see the russians protrayed in a postive way in the media which is unfortunate
Actually, what people really dislike is to see a strong country invade a weak country. It grates on their sense of fairness. Of course they don't like when passenger planes are shot out of the sky, but that could be a mistake. There is no getting around invading a weaker neighbor who has no chance of resisting. They identify with the invaded. It's the "Why don't you pick on someone your own size or who can fight back?" principle.
@wistals3deniks, not true. 1.T hat airplane was led by Ukranian control tower into a war zone when it was shut down. Only a lunatics or extremely unprofessional people would make that mistake. And there was no proof who actually launched the missile. 2. US and Europe have illegally taken away Kosovo which belong to another country, and illegally invaded Syria and other countries in Middle East. Russia have taken away Crimea, but still made far less crimes than US in all their history. See on google how many countries US invaded in past. 3. Gay people are disliked in many countries by governments and various groups. 4. Again no proof of hacking attacks, but there are proofs that CIA is hacking and spying on people, and NSA is also tracking ordinary citizens. Those with so much blood on their hands should be quite when it comes to blaming others. Just enjoy and watch stargate, it is easier than learning your own history.
Aussie Flipper True, for the most part. Though unfortunately, I'm certain that there's a couple regions that I can think of that would probably be a bit too stubborn to even admit that aliens would be attacking us - namely the majority of Middle East and North Korea.
Aussie Flipper Oh, they would fight. But I seriously think that they would try to hit us first, or would have civil wars first, because Islam doesn't give credence to Aliens (maybe they would say that the aliens were Djinns), and the citizenry imprisoned within North Korea has been brainwashed into thinking that the Kim family are all-powerful Gods, so aliens couldn't possibly exist to them. But again, overall the world would unite to work together. I just don't have much optimism for those regions.
Many movies have shown this sort of behaviour humans are extremely stubborn and selfish we are divided over petty reasons and would only truely unite in the fact of a vastly superior foe when there is no choice. Sadly i'd doubt that if ever a enemy strong enough to destroy us all will appear even that won't be enough to bury the hatchet for many.
if we went to war with aliens, if we won, IF, then afterwards we'd try to force our religions on them, spend billions on dollars and pounds housing them and getting them on benefits while our own people starved on the streets. We barely have enough resources and space to feed and house our own people. Thats why I am team Thanos, half the universe is worth the price.
This was one reason the Atlantis finale was so weird. they only use the 302s to protect earth in “enemy at the gate”. like we don’t have hundreds of jets and other defense, especially thanks to the SGC, but none of that is see on The final Atlantis
exactly! I was so confused on why they only launched 302s. I guess Stargate did make a few mistakes in continuity here and there. For example in the first season, 2 Ha'taks were supposed to be deadly enough to bomb the Earth into submission, but apparently 1 ha'tak blast only takes out a block or so in this movie?
@@heliothrax7716 To be fair, I've never considered that to be a problem in the continuity. At that time in the show earth had no defense against a ha'tak, they tried to throw two super powered nukes at them and it didn't work. Even if it takes hours or days to destroy a city, they could sit up there raining down shots for months and we couldn't stop them
@@heliothrax7716 I think that the Ha'tak weapons can be charged to various degrees. In season 1 they mention that one shot from a Ha'tak could be as powerful as 200 megatons. But it can also probably be far weaker if it's making precision strikes. Remember, most Goa'uld are sadistic and cruel, they would like to draw out on the suffering, increase the amount of time it takes to destroy the earth, just to cause terror and suffering. Decrease the power of each shot to increase the "fun factor" so to say lol.
Something doesn't feel Russian about those MiGs. Maybe they needed some Hardbass pumping and the three stripes of Adidas on the fuselage as they flew by.
2 Ha'tak ships could slowly but surely conquer Earth in a few months, however Baal did not take any chances and he brought the entire Goa'uld army in the galaxy...dammm!
Well, Thor once said that if System lords unite against a common foe, they would'be capable of launching an attack 200 times that of what Apophis did. Looks like his estimations were correct, obviously this force is even bigger since Ba'al did away with infighting among system lords.

It wasn't their job to die, but to escort SG-1 to their mission objective and dealing with enemy persuit craft is part of that. Arguably a death sentence either way given that they had to dogfight with the gliders and probably used up whatever fuel they had left and had to land in the cold waters of the North Atlantic.
0:20 I love how theres a guy with a flashlight and moving it all fast to make seem genuine. But it honestly looks like little kid playing with a flashlight
I think they learned not to mess with human fighters in general on that night. 2 F-15's engaged, 2 Death Gliders immediately died. 6 MiG-29's engaged, 6 Death gliders immediately died. Who knows how many it took for the Jaffa to actually win the dogfight or if they did.
@@RedneckRapture the thing is both F-15 and MiG-29 can lock and fire onto more than one target at a time, and that's a huge advantage against an enemy with dumb LOS weapons that attacks in large groups. Hell, any nuclear tipped anti-air missile would've wiped them out of the sky.
@@ancaplanaoriginal5303 Oh yeah, no doubt. I'm only surprised they did not engage as they saw the gliders coming down, they were certainly within range. I can only imagine the sheer hell the Jaffa will face on Earth when they land troops to 'mop up' and discover that most of Earth's military forces dispersed off their bases days before the bombardments started.
That would be sweet. I think this would be awesome because first of all, the Ha'tak bombardment isnt OP like in some other media, it only destroys like a max of around a maybe block or two of a city (as seen from multiple episodes and this scene), not to mention, both forces seem evenly matched, with Tau'ri having better tactics but the Goa'uld having better technology on paper.
The series specifically calls them out as being terror weapons instead of weapons of war. It's how the humans keep winning despite being at a huge technological disadvantage - the Goa'uld are used to mostly ceremonial wars.
@@Dafeaz Or they fight against a very technologically disadvantaged enemy. Their tactics are obsolete, usually relying on brute force. Tau'ri while outnumbered is using diversion and guerrilla warfare at least in the first seasons.

Its possibly the best weapon sound from any series, forget the turbo lasers of star wars and the phasers from star trek. If I were to make a sci fi movie with aliens, this is the gun sound I would choose.
That is the sound of a 2000 megaton yield bolt of energy discharging from a Ha'Tak class Staff Cannon. Each Ha'Tak vessel has 60 evenly spaced on the scaffolding structure around the pyramid.
@@sam23696 , I thought in the alternative reality, they estimated 300-megaton per shot. Not 2000. The 2000 was from naquda enhanced hydrogen bombs which did nothing to Hak’tak shields. The staff cannon is much more concentrated fire which deals more damage than the naquda enhanced H bomb even when the yield is lower.

@@builder396 Yeah, the D was a combat capable trainer designed to serve as a training platform for the F-15A and C. However, it was still compatible with all weapons and can serve as a fighter in a pinch.
I always wanted to see more comparisons between Earth and Goa'uld technology. Ever since the famous P90 demonstration scene where it's canonically confirmed that Gao'uld weapons are designed for terror instead of war I have wanted to see goa'uld facing helicopters, m1 abrams and everything in our arsenal. I addition to that, Earth was always unique in that it had _billions_ of people on it, making it more populous then probably most of the planets in the gate network. The Goa'uld must look upon Earth and see a nearly insurmountable challenge given the number of uprisings they have on primitive worlds. I just love the idea that no matter the odds they face whenever SG1 steps through the gate they have the backing of 7 billion peoples worth of modern military industrial complex.
yer, imagine the full might of Nato, the Russian federation and PLA, they would crush absolutely CRUSH anything the Goauld could put out. The only advantage is there space craft numbers. And land based battle would be a massacre simply because of the Jaffa really don't understand the concept of cover :P
@@alexdavis-mann8513 Well, if the Jaffa are deployed as ground forces, it´s usually either against primitives, or against other system lords. If they encounter an advanced civilization, like the Tollan, they usually just bomb them from space, and then send the Jaffa to clean up. Therefore, it´s no surprise that Jaffa are not really used to taking cover.
i jus had to say this was in my opinion this is the best part in the movie... cums to show tht even wit the tauri primitive technology the F-15 and mig 29 correct me if im wrong surley give the gliders a run for their money.....
It is repeatedly shown that Earth is at about the pinnacle of projectile weapons possibilities, while energy weapons are significantly less developed, particularly Goa'uld. It is shown that there is overlap. But then you get to some more energy weapons, Asgard Plasma Beams, Ori Beam weapons, Traveler's/Ronan's pistols are all shown to be a significant improvement over their counterparts, both energy and projectile. Guided Missiles are also shown to have a big advantage, both earth design and ancient drones. Additionally F-15s and MiGs are designed for atmospheric air to air combat in contrast to the gliders, which are designed to attack capital ships in space. The Gliders engaged the F-15s and MiGs in exactly where they functioned best.
Well you have to give the earthers a chance right, realistically speaking, we wouldn't have chance against a civilization which is tens of thousands of years more advanced in some areas and even more in others, we would barely be able to grasp their tech, their average iq would be much higher, it would be like a caveman fighting a modern day soldier, the cave man would lack advanced strategies and tactics, a lower iq and obsolete tech.
0:06 I think of what Thor said in Fair Game “ The system lords are capable of launching an assault 100 times more powerful than that which you previously withstood at the hands of Apophis”
If it weren't for the advantage of holding the orbitals, Goa'uld tech wouldn't be a match for modern human tech. I always wondered why Stargate Command would be restricted to pulling off missions like raids with small commando teams. There were episodes where the Jaffa wouldn't have stood a chance if we'd just had the wherewithal to ram a battalion or two through the gate and attack the target with more force. Small teams might make more sense from a storytelling perspective, but not from a realism perspective.
I wouldn't say Goa'uld tech is no match for Earth tech, but in a dogfight our jet fighters are superior to Gliders in many ways. Gliders are built for the intimidation of primitive cultures, modern human fighters are built for aerial combat.
@@refulgent_fanta They are extremely handicapped against Earth fighters due to the lack of any ability to engage outside of LOS (line of sight.) Modern fighters can lock onto and fire on enemy targets in the air from further than 50 miles away. Gliders only have staff cannons and no guided air to air munitions of any kind. In atmosphere, their wing design means they cannot fly stable at supersonic speeds, also restricting their turning radius compared to air superiority fighters. (Ever wonder why fighters have a needle on the nose and swept back wings? It's because the needle helps divert airflow around the airframe and the wing design provides for stable flight past Mach 1.)
@@kettch777 yeah, Goa’uld tech was quite flawed. Their technology favoured form over function. System Lords always growled at lesser civilisations and showed their teeth but when the said culture didn’t buy the god bullshit and sneered back at them, they started having problems.
Well for one it’s hard for an entire battalion who signed up to fight the Taliban for 2 years to then end up on an alien planet and then keep the secret.

Probably flying high to catch any of the gliders if they try to evade by climbing, that or assisting the F-15 Escorts still engaged with other gliders. (Say an even split 6 + 6, Escorts take down two in first pass but even glider pilots aren't dumb enough to miss the fact that only half the fighters are engaging. The two fighters that are running must be the real prize so leave a couple of gliders behind to keep the escorts busy while you run down the high value target. Assuming that the gliders engaging the F-15's are focused on their target the single fighter will get an easy kill on the first glider having caught it out of position (with luck two) and break the F-15's out of their defensive pattern.
With the enemy craft coming right at them they couldve fired their Amraams minutes ago and taken a few down. They waited until it was almost too close for the sidewinders.
In other alien movies you see big ships entering our atmosphere and lying waste to our city's. But bombarding earth from orbit is far more effective. I would target nuclear power stations, Nuclear weapons facilities, tectonic plates, military installations, Navel fleets and of course government structures
It's a pity that there was no last Stargate movie where old enemies like the Goa'uld, the replicators or Ori from a parallel universe travel with a new developed technology into the local Stargate universe and confront the Stargate team with a threat that has never existed before, where also old actors reappear.

I can understand the idea of the staff being a "weapon of terror", not a "weapon of war", and the Jaffa being trained more to install fear than to fight effectively -- only that does not seem to apply to larger weapons, starting with the gliders. Surely those were not designed primarily to intimidate illiterate slaves into hauling large stones to build a pyramid, but rather to actually win battles. If so, this should have been at least as lopsided as the air combat between F-14's and Zeroes in THE FINAL COUNTDOWN.
i guess the gliders are used to shot a big crowd of jaffas of another goauld. the clashes of the goauld was the only use for gliders. you can see that very good in the series. the gliders cant really aim that good same for the alkesh.
I'd imagine the staff cannon would be a bit hard to aim, the energy bolt they fire seem rather slow so it's probably like the WWII era 37mm M4 aircraft cannon that was fitted to the Aircobra and Kingcobra fighters. Famous air force test pilot Chuck Yeager once likened it to throwing a grapefruit. If it hit anything in the air it'd destroy it, but the downside would be a large and slow moving projectile with a low rate of fire. And a staff cannon has a far far lower rate of fire than an autocannon.

@@Hei_Darkfire Not at all, I will edit the Hardbass in there somehow. Maybe the moment when Daniel "talks to the MIGs" I can slide it in there instead of Daniel speaking Russian, cut, and then Mitchell's normal script line play "What the hell did you just say"? , then Daniel's "We are americans pleas....etc". That could work xD, like a "hardbass code" only russians understand.... I dunno I'm trying to make the joke work, any ideas?
@@Hei_Darkfire I was also thinking of editing it in a way that seemed like the MIGs were listening to Hardbass (instrumental) at FULL vol. Like a distant Hardbass that gets louder as the MIGs pass by the F15 and then distant again as they get closer to the gliders. You know, the standard effect of a vehicle with loud music passing by. That would also be funny, especially if we keep sliding the Hardbass playing in the radioish background behind the audio of the Russian pilot replying to Daniel lol.
@@RickyMontero54 Eh. Whatever works.
God Bless the Ruskies.
IJN Yamato what? He never said that the Migs were outclassed by the gliders, in fact you are correct in the statement that the Migs would wreck the gliders
However it is true that the mig-29 is a short range aircraft.

People dislike passenger planes being shot down, neighbouring country's being invaded, gay hunting and hacking attacks.
Kelly Rayburn because they would fight back
@wistals3deniks, not true.

It's a shame it would take an Alien invasion for the world to unite.
Aussie Flipper True, for the most part. Though unfortunately, I'm certain that there's a couple regions that I can think of that would probably be a bit too stubborn to even admit that aliens would be attacking us - namely the majority of Middle East and North Korea.
Joshua Fogg seriously? I personally would think they would jump at the chance to go to war with the worlds permission.

Best scene in all of Stargate.
i dont think that those gliders where designed for air to air combat
They were not.
The series specifically calls them out as being terror weapons instead of weapons of war. It's how the humans keep winning despite being at a huge technological disadvantage - the Goa'uld are used to mostly ceremonial wars.
Dafeaz yep they were designed to crush human rebellions specifically close air support
@@Dafeaz Or they fight against a very technologically disadvantaged enemy. Their tactics are obsolete, usually relying on brute force. Tau'ri while outnumbered is using diversion and guerrilla warfare at least in the first seasons.

Therefore, it´s no surprise that Jaffa are not really used to taking cover.

that's no surprise
the F-302 kicked there buts with the same armament, the Aim-120
Considering most Goa'uld tech is made for intimidation that's no surprise.
Well you have to give the earthers a chance right, realistically speaking, we wouldn't have chance against a civilization which is tens of thousands of years more advanced in some areas and even more in others, we would barely be able to grasp their tech, their average iq would be much higher, it would be like a caveman fighting a modern day soldier, the cave man would lack advanced strategies and tactics, a lower iq and obsolete tech.
cave man advanced physical build like tiger vs cat in term of physical.
Nothing like a good ole alien invasion to ally rival human nations.
02:22 Ah yes, the classic "Go go gadget: R-73M" moment.

0:06 I think of what Thor said in Fair Game “ The system lords are capable of launching an assault 100 times more powerful than that which you previously withstood at the hands of Apophis”
Very underrated TV series.

Well death gliders dosent have any guidence system and no homing missiles
The Death Gliders are primarily ground attack aircraft.
We've seen Gliders use as weapon of terror by Ra in the 1994 Stargate movie.
