My heart always goes out to Samus because Ridley is always causing hell in her life and she doesn't get a happy ending she's stuck making the universe a better place.
@@Nocturnewashereshe did. This was it. The original Ridley getting killed off in this game. It’s just that some stupid idiot thought it would be a good idea to clone the guy and bring him back. AGAIN.

Thank you for this Longplay. For a long time now, I have watched plenty of Super Metroid videos. From speedruns, to wall jump strategies, to sequence breaking and more. Thank you for making one that plays as intended. I know that the developers put the shine sparking and wall jumping in there for those who want to complete the game faster for the better ending, but for casual gamers like myself, I want to enjoy the game as is (with as little sequence breaking as possible. I couldn't help getting the energy tank in the room with the pack of missiles by bomb jumping).
I finally beat this master piece for first time earlier in March, it took me a hour longer to beat than you did cause mastering the wall jumping was a little tricky to learn so with lots of practice for about half and hour finally learned it but also had to look up how to do it off gamefaq’s. This game really test your skills out with learning rocket launcher jump and grappling hook mechanics but why did the wall jumping have to be so difficult guess retro hard is no joke. Even with some flaws, this game Is still pure genius with great music score and to me this is the Metroid game that put Metroidvania on the map. I’m back to work at my seasonal job so working on my backlog may be difficult,I’m putting a hold on DK County 2 for now and since original Mario games on NES are so short going to play them on my spare time and also start trying out Links Awakening DX on Gameboy color off of Switch and still have my scope on Minish Cap off of Gameboy Advance. Definitely excited trying out Gameboy consoles off of Switch Online, so with still being busy I think playing handheld games will be the thing to do. Thanks for your videos, you always give me a lot of possibilities of games to play, I always have to choose my game wisely, but it’s hard when you want to play everything lol 😆
I fucking love how the boss theme during Draygons fight sounds like it's underwater unlike the escape from the colony ship in the beginning of the game. This game is great!
I played the game recently for the first time via the Nintendo Switch Online. After Metroid Dread, I wasn't sure it would compare as well. Although not as good as Dread, it far exceeds my expectation, and it definitely holds up today. Proof is, once I started playing, I couldn't stop. Finding secret areas and difficult-to-get items using the Shining spark were so satisfying. Wonderful from beginning to end. Ridley in particular was such a hard boss. Took me many tries, while I got Mother Brain first try (lasers were annoying; you had to dodge well and use screw atk often to not get hit). It's impressive to think this game really was made in 1994.
The SNES is where stuff really started to get great. I like the NES too but honestly I wouldn't recommend today to play the very first Metroid or Zelda. Gameplay wise it just wasn't there yet.
My personal theory is that Chozo technology is based on a kind of biological energy source not possible to replicate when not actively on missions. You can keep the generators running while you're actively fighting but it quickly becomes inert when not used and recharged regularly. A period of weeks without regular recharges renders the technology useless unless new components are found. The Chozo evolved in a world where such energy sources were plentiful, this wasn't a problem for them. But for someone who only visits Chozo colonies, their parts wear out very quickly and regular maintenance is impossible without new sources of energy. Basically to keep it running indefinitely you have to keep constantly killing animals, and moral issues aside, nobody's got enough room on a spaceship for that. It's one of the reasons the Chozo never moved beyond their initial empire, expansion would mean extensive terraforming efforts every single time. Samus has found a way to keep the standard blaster and armor package going with a Federation converter pack since their power loads are relatively light and Federation tech can handle them, everything else is basically treated ike a loaner and quickly becomes inert when not in everyday use.
Crocomire is in the middle of the game. I thought he was at the end of the game; on one of the videos in the channel, My Retro Life, Tyler Esposito has tried to beat him for a long time.

One of the most tragic moments of my childhood was saving my game before the final boss only to realize WAY too late that you can't go back and explore the main part of the game any more once your pass a certain point.
I think it is one of those jumps whete you need to let go of the jump button at the right moment. If you hold it you will bump into the ceiling which will get you down faster.
@@RetroGameSpacko I have cleared that part already. It turns out you can turn off the Hi-Jump so you can perform a wider jump (that powerup makes jumps less horizontal to boost the jump's height). Any powerup can be turned off by going to the powerup menu while pausing. =)

I had always thought this was the second Meteoid game. So what is the second game, the one on gameboy?
exactly. Still need to do that one
The second one is return of samus on gameboy but they remade it on 3ds as samus returns
I also thought this was the second
Theres a fan made remake named Am2r, it was taken off by the big n themselves but it came back from the dead.
Why does Mother Brain sound like Mothra?
Most of the bosses roars in this game are samples from the Godzilla franchise.
Is this a 100% longplay?
100% items? No. That would have just enlarged the longplay with a load of boring backtracking with no benefit to the ending or new areas to discover.

all metroid games after Super Metroid do in fact require 100% items for the best endings. Metroid 1 -3 only require a playtime of less than 3h
