The issue with the state of PvP right now, in my opinion, is that way too many abilities have built in CC outside of their intended button press. I realize all classes have their matchups that reminds people of rock/paper/scissor, and I'm keeping that in mind. What I experience as a Warrior into Devastation, Frost Mage, Hunter, might be equally as bad as what a Mage experience into a Hunter or a Warlock, but my point still stands on the general scope of how the design intent is behind abilities and their effects. If every, or close to every, slow effect had to be a conscious choice and not a side-effect of your DPS rotation, it would loosen up the global cooldown game and also reduce how massively explosive games can be, and people would be more conscious about their spell usage, positioning and so much else. Thank god you posted about this Ven. fighting dev/unholy has been a nightmare, even as a feral. If a FERAL of all specs can't keep up with someone what the fuck is going on.
As a Warlock main, I thrive when I see melee struggle with connecting, as a vast majority of specs have far too much mobility and uptime (not to mention micro CC). That being said, Frost Mages and Dev Evokers are an absolute joke right now, truly toxic. Dare I say on par with Blood DK in past expansions? Anyway, this looks like an awful experience and I hated watching it, so I can only imagine how unfun it was to experience it.
This perfectly depicts how bad Blizzard is at designing abilities. They start from the bottom and work up, that's not how you should design ability interactions. You need to start at the top and work down. What end result do you want? Then branch out how you achieve that.
For a pvp game, yes, but clearly blizzard chose to put esports om the shelf for now and focuse on some pve and solo content for this expansion. The talent tree returning way back was a clear hint at this as complexity in talents makes balancing infinately more difficult. The mop era talents served pvp incredibly well but also caused classes to be much too similar and it took away alot of the rp out of rpg
I got a solo shuffle with two devastation evokers, a frost mage and a marksman hunter as a wind walker monk I legit could not play the game. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought this was insane!
Remember that blizzard removed cast and run lightning bolt, and KJC which actually slowed the warlock while move-casting. Yet they'll go and add stuff like this lol
It's amazing how much more mobility and kicks and cc melee have to keep a caster from playing g get once there is a spec that counts a melee it's let's cry about not being an easy target
How you feel in this video is how a lot of PvP players have felt for years. Like why am I playing this. I did skip SL and DF and giving TWW a try but again Blizz... what are you doing??!!
Best part is, blizz will likely see complaints about this. Their way of fixing it will be: Oh looks like monks can't catch up to the dragons huh, let's give monks a little bit more mobility to conquer this issue - which then leads to the issue that monks has too much mobility for other ranged classes. So what do they do? well now they have to give them even more mobility/teleports/slows. This is on repeat and soon we're all gonna be flying spaceships in the arena (Except for warlocks though they forgot their mobility in MOP) But hey! soon we can all be dragons doublejumping as all classes so that's cool!
Well I mean as a warlock main I've been pretty btfo'd by melee for years now without any real recourse. So seeing this against a warrior and monk was quite satisfying. I bet they were screaming
At this point warrior needs a talent for every second shared increases cd reduction for charge. If you perma snare warrior it will stack to like 800% cd reduction for war
Marks hunter and Affliction locks are wildly out performing frost mage in practically all content. While I didn't want them buffed, I do not think any of their incoming nerfs are warranted. If anything, Glacial / Ray should have been buffed slightly to make it worth casting.
To add insult to injury, I also play Recall talent, which allows me teleport to my original location once I finish Deep Breath. It is especially nasty in BGs.
I main a Fury Warrior. Played a solo shuffle the other day against Dev Evoker, MM Hunter, Frost Mage. I basically just sat in roots or slow walked to my target 90% of the game.
Everyone just about frost mages, but U all forgot when FIREmages could basically stun lock someone without end with the right talent setup and fitting gear --- it was so fun to be able to destroy max lvl melees while I was levels below xD
I can confirm as a melee main (ret, fury, dk) playing against evok feels like you are playing against a character from a different game. It’s completely impossible to track everything they do and catching them in cc for cleave is basically impossible.

Nothing seems coordinated, burst is just the same spell but with a proc and some modifiers, and the stupid mobility literally never ends.
My boss called me today and i just kept saying 90% snare until he hung up the phone
I tried enh yesterday all excited for the buffs, got kited across the whole BG by an undergeared dev evoker. I literally couldnt catch him....
Went back to my lock ASAP 😭
Yep, the buffs seem fun at first, and then you realise you just can't even touch anyone. Not even touch them, you can't even move half the time. Standing still waiting to die. That's what Enhance feels like.
@@StrobeFireStudioseven warrior felt like that against an undergrared evoker. I couldn’t move or catch him, as he just melted me down for free
Doing my 1600 grind in blitz on my ww monk felt like I was slowed or rooted constantly, tigers lust would remove a root every 30 seconds but god damn using it and then getting rooted immediately after you just got out of a root is so infuriating.
Rodeo is the best option
Thank god you posted about this Ven. fighting dev/unholy has been a nightmare, even as a feral. If a FERAL of all specs can't keep up with someone what the fuck is going on.
I love listening to casters cry that melee get too much uptime and then this stuff exists.
This priest is literally the drenched in sweat keyboard kid meme during the monk game.
I only play warrior and this is why I never touch arena. Even if there's no Evoker you'll still be cc'd into oblivion 9 out of 10 games.
Next time wife gets mad and me and then tries to walk away....90% snare.
This is how the game should be played though. That war should be sitting on pillar. Not trying to chase and staying in middle to get freecasted on.
This is what you get when you give each class like a bazillion abilities. Everyone can heal, snare , cc etc..
I can't help but listen to Ven during that entire monk game and think "this is literally what casters say 90% of the time they get into an arena"
Spell reflect didn’t even make Venruki hesitate or stop casting. Just kept zugging.
Clearly a skill issue ... I'm talking about the skill Hover, it's an issue
Whoever designed that class, should be fired..
It's amazing how much more mobility and kicks and cc melee have to keep a caster from playing g get once there is a spec that counts a melee it's let's cry about not being an easy target
The thing is dragons are meta but nobody wants them to be there.
When the "most mobile class in the game" cant stick to a ranged you have a problem....
The fact there’s almost no DR for what they can do to melee rn is disgusting
How you feel in this video is how a lot of PvP players have felt for years. Like why am I playing this. I did skip SL and DF and giving TWW a try but again Blizz... what are you doing??!!
what a time to be alive where wow arena takes longer then league games
Remember when they kept nerfing rogue poisons because their snare... and now they give the OP snare to evokers... so silly.
This is on repeat and soon we're all gonna be flying spaceships in the arena (Except for warlocks though they forgot their mobility in MOP)
But hey! soon we can all be dragons doublejumping as all classes so that's cool!
Well I mean as a warlock main I've been pretty btfo'd by melee for years now without any real recourse. So seeing this against a warrior and monk was quite satisfying. I bet they were screaming
i was thinking same shit
SO THATS WHAT IVE BEEN DOING TO PEOPLE? WOW THIS GAME SUCKS.
You don't know what pain is until you played SP
dont you have spammable curse of exhaustion, 2 ports, multiple health restore and walls? what are you talking about lol
@@vellusk I guess you haven't played lock because you'd know non of that is effective and is extremely situational at best.
Oh no, something that melee can't counter with their millions of gap closers and micro ccs. NERF IT IMMEDIATELY!
Ok, thats pretty bad, but nothing is worse than frost mage. Dragon isnt even closeeeeeeee as a melee.
looks like tbc warrior vs mage, except not as brutal for the warrior
They need to remove the slow immune whilst hovering, or give it a CD, like 30 second CD of the slow immune.
the vocalization of the 90% snares was giving me PTSD as an arms warrior
kinda clickbait title, hunters and rogues counter both this and mage although mage is way worse about it.
Fighting a Devoker is like playin a ret simulator, slow for days.
If u drink everytime he says 90% snare u end wasted
Imagine a frost mage main complaining about snares lol, hes also deleting comments again...
At this point warrior needs a talent for every second shared increases cd reduction for charge.
If you perma snare warrior it will stack to like 800% cd reduction for war
Blizzard is consistently proving to me that quitting the game was the best thing ive ever done
It's so stupid, who thought yea that's a good idea, let dragons have a 90% constant snare and also they gotta fly around constantly. GJ
Marks hunter and Affliction locks are wildly out performing frost mage in practically all content. While I didn't want them buffed, I do not think any of their incoming nerfs are warranted. If anything, Glacial / Ray should have been buffed slightly to make it worth casting.
imagine trying to deal with this as an arms warrior
I had to mute the video😂 it straight up sounded like homie broke
The silence was so loud LOL
Venruki say that Frost are OP for the past month but people still act like if he wasn't.
mages and hunters make the game almost unplayable for melee
Normally I would advocate against slows having a diminishing return in PvP, but I just don't know if I believe that anymore...
Ah… yeah the class that made me take a break from the game for a few weeks
To add insult to injury, I also play Recall talent, which allows me teleport to my original location once I finish Deep Breath. It is especially nasty in BGs.
Funny how this video isn't about Frost Mage
Now you know how warriors felt back in the day when playing against Hunters and Mages
They should just given them a cape with an S on it and let them fly around the arena like Superman!
It’s completely impossible to track everything they do and catching them in cc for cleave is basically impossible.
devastation have reached peak DH levels of obnoxious out-of-place mechanics and overall bullshittery
The evoker archetype fits we've always had dragonkin type humanoids, but these abilities and powers just don't belong in wow.
Evoker on all specs is an absolute monster. S tier every spec. Beyond outplaying if they have a brain.
90% Snare… 90% Snare… 90% Snare… 90% Snare… 90% Snare…
They won’t fix it either until half way through the season when a bunch of fails are 2700 because of a shit talent
No Blizzard pvp dev knows what's going on with pvp and they get paid for it, we have abominations like dk unholy, lock afflick, feral druid, hunter MM completely broken.
And then we have little windwalker monk struggling to breathe.
Venrunki trying to desperately sway attention off of mages, nice try bud.
Additionaly you can use the evoker racials to interrupt every charge if you time it correctly.
Ive been away from retail for about 2 years, thought id give tww a try but after seeing this I think ill pass. Ty for posting this. You just saved me 80 euros.
