Thank you for giving us a piece of your time This place is on our list of places to visit soon 2 Canadians living in Mexico, Merida, sending support Cheers J&D
i'm planning to go in feb. for the 1st time..can you help me to split up my time if i had 2 weeks, do you think 2 nights in cancun, then 4-5 nights in holbox, 3 nights in playa del carmen, 3 nights in isla mujeres, 1 (last) night in cancun. do you think it's repetitivet o do both holbox and isla mujer? should i visit cozumel also..and take off 1-2 nights elsewhere? food is important for the trip..i'm not a big water person, so will enjoy the sunsets, the food.
We'd personally skip Cancun. Start with Holbox for 3-4 nights, then go to Valladolid OR Merida for 2 nights, maybe Playa del Carmen OR Tulum for 2-3 nights, and do Isla Mujeres OR Cozumel for 2 nights, finish with Bacalar for the remainder of your trip.
Thanks! We visited twice... once in February and another time in May. Both times were incredible and I don't think we had any rain. Don't visit during the raining season though (August - December) as I heard it's full of mosquitoes during that time and rains a lot!
Such a beautiful and informative video. Did you guys travel there in May? If so what were the exact dates, because the weather looks fantastic in your video. I’m thinking about going this year.
We were there at the end of April / beginning of May last year. The weather was perfect then for us! Thanks for watching and enjoy your trip to Holbox 😎
I’d say 2-3 days is perfect! It’s really a lot about relaxing on the island as it’s pretty small. Though there definitely are some boat tours you can do as well!
There is a road! And to get there, you can take an ADO bus from Cancun or playa del Carmen. The ADO bus leaves every hour currently from Cancun. Or if you have a car, you can also drive there. But you need to search for directions to “Chiquila” on your map since the road only goes to there and then you have to take a ferry to Isla Holbox
I just came back from Riveria Maya last march..i stayed in Tulum..the beaches were very overcrowded and very rocky in the pool area..this looks like a much better place to visit with easier to swim and less rocky..i am defintly planning my next trip there..my resort was not that great with poor ac..do you know of any good resorts (top of the line) in that area?
Tulum is a lot more expensive indeed! Isla Holbox is our favorite place... so relaxed! There are many great hotels on the island. We stayed at ecoco hotel (an eco-friendly hotel) and really enjoyed it! Definitely check out booking.com and you'll find many more great options!
@@worldwildhearts Cool thanks, I went to Playa Del Carmen 3 years ago and I knew the seaweed was bad then however the flight was so cheap. This time I'm doing the a few beach spots. Hopefully The Bioluminescence Is decent too.
We stayed at the Ecoco Hotel in Holbox, an eco-friendly hotel with a very nice owner. Most of the excursions we arranged ourselves. You could check Get Your Guide and see if they offer tours if you want to pre-book it... here is the link: www.getyourguide.com/?partner_id=57UJ5GF&placement=content-middle&cmp=Sidebar_blog
I finally made it to Holbox. Stayed 9 days. Loved it but couldn't sw with while sharks, expensive. Didn't bring enough money and I want sure about the sometimes open bank. Loved the Isla Loved the locals, hung out with them.
That’s true you have to stop before (sign with boundary) but we consider Punta mosquito the whole area before that. The sandbars are before you enter the area.
Thanks for the feedback! This video is very old (our first-ever series made on RUclips) so it has improved a lot over the years ;) Maybe check out one of our latest videos and you'll notice the difference!
Isla Holbox is situated to the northwest of Cancun, where the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea meet. Google Isla Holbox and you’ll find that most websites refer to it as being on the Gulf of Mexico. Both are correct in our opinion. Check it on the map images.app.goo.gl/FBSTGytCNecpV2eC9

Thanks for this video! I watched a few of your other ones about the Canadian Rockies and Eswatini, and those were great.
Great video. The white sand beaches of Mosquito Point are to die for. Your drone footage captures that coastline perfectly.
Absolutely! It's beautiful

@@worldwildhearts Right on! Thank you so much for the quick response. Im in the process of booking my trip right now. I really appreciate the help.
Do you recommend to go in january??
Yes January is a good time!
How hot is it? Can you sunbathe all day?
@doncorleone482 yes it’s still very hot! It’s always warm on that side 😄
How many days should someone stay there? Before we run out of things to do?
I’d say 2-3 days is perfect! It’s really a lot about relaxing on the island as it’s pretty small. Though there definitely are some boat tours you can do as well!
What month did you go?
This video was taken in May. But also visited last year in February which was a good time too!
How is aldea Kuka? Have seen some bad reviews about it but it looks great
We didn’t stay there ourselves so can’t tell you, but perhaps someone else who has watched this video stayed there and will be able to chime in

How did you manage to fly the drone? Aren't they banned?
We were there in March and drones were allowed at that point. Perhaps the rules changed by now?
Did you bring your own drone to Mexico?
We did a few years ago! There’s new regulations about that now
❤👍🏻
Hol- Bosch never heard of it
I'm going to Holbox soon, how was Sargassum ( Brown seaweed )?
The seaweed wasn’t too bad at all! We were there about a month ago and there was very little. Barely noticed it
@@worldwildhearts Cool thanks, I went to Playa Del Carmen 3 years ago and I knew the seaweed was bad then however the flight was so cheap.
This time I'm doing the a few beach spots. Hopefully The Bioluminescence Is decent too.
@@BasedInBrazil awesome! You will have a great time there. Such a beautiful island 🏝
Is it hard to see bioluminescence?? I heard it can’t be full moon and very dark.
Full moon does affect visibility! The darker the better but there are many points on Holbox where you can find pure darkness :)
When is the best time to see luminescence in Holbox?
I’ve been wanting to visit ! Keep being told the cartels are bad there right now?! 😢 I’m so conflicted!
Never experienced any bad situation there! Been there twice and had a great time 😊 it’s beautiful!
Please give me details and excursions here hotel accommodations etc

You can't access punta mosquito as it's restricted as a wildlife reserve
That’s true you have to stop before (sign with boundary) but we consider Punta mosquito the whole area before that. The sandbars are before you enter the area.
Thanks for the tips! And if I may give some constructive criticism, you sound extremely bored in your narration. 😄

The whale shark tour is always a mess. Too many boats to many people.
So in short - there is absolutely NOTHING to do on Isla Holbox... thank you for convincing me to go somewhere else
Depends on your style of travel. For us, Isla Holbox is a paradise for relaxing
It's the Caribbean sea, not gulf of Mexico.

Avoid swimming with whale sharks, as it's not ethical at all. Those are wild animals.
