    • @arash8761
      @arash8761 Месяц назад

      He literally was installed by the Americans via the assassination of Nasser, who pursued an independent foreign policy. Then Sadat became an American lackey (like the Shah) and Egypt has been a shadow of its former self ever since. The main actor who has created war in the middle east has been the US and Israel. The borders of "Greater Israel" are from the Nile to the Euphrates, which means that they will always be at war until they genocide everyone in those areas. So by having "peace" with Israel, he actually strengthened the hands of the war-makers and created more wars. The invasion of Iraq and Libya, of Afghanistan, the intervention and occupation in Syria, etc. And of course the creation of Al Qaeda and ISIS, all come from US and Israel. So the only way you can have peace is with the expulsion of all US troops, through peaceful or forceful means, as well as the elimination of Zionism as an ideology.@@rickallen1908

    • @flechette3782
      @flechette3782 Месяц назад

      @@donchampagne6211 Paranoia is defined as an "unreasonable fear" of something. A *reasonable* fear is not paranoia.
      Example, being afraid of a cobra is not paranoia. It can and will kill you if you get too close.
      Nixon had a lot of enemies, and my argument is that his fears were not unfounded. In fact, Watergate proved him correct: it was a scandal largely manufactured by his enemies to get rid of him.
      Think about it; how bad was "Watergate" really? All it was was three members of Nixon's greater team broke into an office and stole some files. A crime to be sure, but not as serious as many, many other crimes we see in politics.
      Now here is the very, very, important part: Nixon was not involved. Nixon did not order the break in. He wasn't even aware of it. These people broke into the office on their own volition.
      How do we know this? Because the entire scandal...the ENTIRE investigation...was about whether Nixon tried to cover it up, not if he ordered it. The phrase heard constantly in the media was, "what did he know and when did he know it?", not "did he order it?"
      At the very, very, very worst Nixon was guilty of trying to cover the event up and hiding it from the press as much as he could. The 17 minutes of missing tape that people talk about was about Nixon talking to his staff (potentially) about damage control. No one even accused him of ordering the break ins.
      Compare this "scandal" to today's scandals.
      Benghazi: intelligence ignored that got U.S. personnel killed.
      Fast and Furious: gun running to Mexican Drug cartels that got people (including a U.S. Border Patrol agent) killed.
      White Water: massive insider trading scam that enriched politicians.
      "China Gate" Clinton Administration where Top Secret national security missile guidance technology was transferred to the Chinese.
      I could go on...but compare that to Watergate: a few guys break into an office, steal some paper, get caught, do not resist arrest and the President didn't even know about it at the time.
      Nothingburger scandal completely blown way out of proportion by Nixon's enemies.
      Now, was he really "paranoid"?

      I agree with the spirit of what you’re saying, but I don’t agree with the statement. I know what you mean by it, so this isn’t an attack!
      I think that we need someone that’s not like any president we’ve had. We are in a different place now than we’ve ever been. I wouldn’t say it’s negative or positive… Just different. One of the things that I’ve always loved about the US is that - With the freedoms that we’ve been granted, we’re able to make our country what we believe it can be. I think that with all of the rapid development of technology and access to information, we’ve forgotten what it is to think as selflessly and independently as previous generations. They weren’t in their phones and making posts about themselves. They had a knack for pointing out what they believed America needed as a whole, and going after it. We don’t do a ton of things that they used to! But you know what?… that’s okay. I think we’ve come so incredibly far for such a young country. I also think that there are a lot of things we can do better. But that’s the point. We try to identify things that are wrong, and we fix them. We need a leader (or multiple leaders) that understand the fact that we rely on our country’s past accomplishments and transgressions to find new ways to improve our way of life. But if a country is going to do that, I have to believe and hope it’s us!

    But I remember President Anwar Sadat. I remember he made peace with Isreal.

    It is so refreshing to listen to a thoughtful, intelligent, coherent president and statesman speak and not toss off gaslighting one-liners while meandering away aimlessly.
    And it seems to me from this interview that if he was asked hard questions he would actually think and answer rather than dodge them.
    He did some things wrong, got caught, admitted them, and stepped down like an honorable man, but his wrongdoings ain't nothing compared to the current occupant.

      It would be more accurate to say a well deserved Washington Post expose by the reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein of the Nixon attempt at subterfuge to stay in power for a second term which was the notorious Watergate story.
      Then there was the Watergate papers brought to light by Daniel Ellsberg which revealed the expansion of the war by Nixon which includes the bombing of Laos and Cambodia.
