@@ri-oj1ul 💀 In the case of the United States, as shameful as it is for the politicians to condescend to the people as if they were children, there is a reason they can get away with doing so. Americans need to read more and think more if they want a good future for themselves, but instead they report reading less and less every year, and it shows. Increasingly, Americans have the attention span of a goldfish and just as little knowledge of history, and hilariously and horribly the whole world is dragged along by this superpowered goldfish. If only the new despotism were any better. Some third global alternative to degrading goldfishworld vs. degrading autocracy is badly needed.

    • @jokerzwild00

Well, it's crazy that we're choosing to elect men in their 70s to the presidency. What for? Because they're "seasoned" and learned? That's ridiculous, there are plenty of those kinds of people in their 40s and 50s. Is it, perhaps, that men that old have had decades to build enough influence to finally get that kind of support? Maybe.
The downsides of electing a geriatric president outweigh the benefits IMHO. Potential health issues, declining mental ability, etc. I just believe that the choices we have been given, especially in the past 2 cycles, have been horrible. If the people absolutely must stay with a 2 party system, then those parties absolutely *must* give us better candidates to choose from. Nobody in their right mind can tell me that Donald Trump and Joe Biden and the best politicians and statesmen this country has to offer. The *have* to be better leaders than this somewhere in this vast country. Less divisive leaders who can bring the country together in these trying times, instead of further driving a wedge down the middle of us. We must find that common ground to unite us if we are to make any kind of real progress. Democrats: the Republicans are not going away. Republicans: Democrats aren't going anywhere. You absolutely must learn to live with each other or the only thing that will continue to get done is nothing at all.
So screw these old men. Nothing personal, but it's time for someone fresh and new to lead us into the future. And I'm not saying let 20 year old kids take over Washington, I'm just saying... you know, an intelligent, well connected and charismatic 48-58 year old man or woman should be ideal for either party.
In a perfect world the party wouldn't matter. We'd just elect people based on their public record and campaign. Let's start with the small stuff first though. Like not electing an ancient executive. And enacting term limits for Congress. It will add up eventually.

@@jokerzwild00 hmmm, well, I just turned 72 and though I’d rather not be “screwed” there are a number of things which affect all of us. 1. We need the Holy Spirit to pierce our hearts, minds, and souls. 2. We need to fall on our knees, pleading for mercy, forgiveness, and repent of our evil ways - turning back to God through Jesus Christ, getting rid of our perverted, decadent, and compromised existence and coming to terms with what is right and good vs evil and darkness. I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s - my foster family would never vote for anybody who wasn’t a democrat and held that belief their entire lives (I’m a conservative, btw). But for anybody to believe Hillary or Joe B. was best for this country certainly blows my mind. I am not in the MAGA cult although I would like to see America be a shining light to the world. I no longer say “God bless America” - why should He? Those three words illustrate how disconnected we are - I am ashamed of what we have become - a country of over-emotional, spoiled, and a woke society who feels entitled to everything - who believe free speech is only a right as long as your views parallel theirs, and an all-inclusive acceptance for re-writing laws, history, and the attempt to establish a new paradigm through “woke-ism”. No longer does “love thy neighbor” hold value. Speaking of neighbors, why haven’t we stepped up for our neighbors in this hemisphere? You and I both know the answer to that and we should be ashamed. Eisenhower sounded the alarm on the rapid development of the deep state (Nixon was his protege). (Sorry, I digress). Whom would you prefer to see at 1600 Penn - Josh Hawley (age 44)? Tom Cotton (46)? Kristi Noem (52)? Sarah Huckabee-Sanders (41)? Majorie Taylor Green (49)? Elise Stefanik (39)? Rashida Talib (47)? Ilhan Omar (41)? Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (34)? Maxwell Frost (27)? Taylor Swift (34)? Kanye West (46)? Kim Kardashian (43)? Who would be the best to lead this country out of the depths and stench it has created? My apologies but I forgot the former mayor from Chicago - “beetlejuice”. I would be surprised if the 2024 election will be held but if it is, the “fix” is already in. Judgement will be upon us soon - possibly as early as April but definitely the summer and fall leading up to the election if we make it that far. Most likely we will be living under martial law - the economy will have tanked, blockchain interruptions, food scarcity, gas rationing/scarcity, roving blackouts, the military controlling the infrastructure (there goes the internet and mobile access/coverage - I’ll feel as though I’m back in another third-world hole but at least I’ve operated under those extremes in my career and by God’s grace my family and friends will survive). May I recommend RUclips viewing of John MacArthur (When God Abandons a Nation), Brandon Holthaus, Jack Hibbs, Amir Tsarfati, Voddie Bacham, Paul Washer, Jonathan Cahn, Mark Biltz, and Janie DuVall’s channel where her guests outline what lies ahead. And today - Feb. 25 - go to First Baptist Dallas and watch Robert Jeffress’ sermon for direction, peace, and comfort. I will agree with you that some of the old guard needs to be changed - Nadler, Schumer, McConnell (this is a start but again, it is over as we are “as in the days of Noah” and living as those in Sodom & Gomorrah- Judgement is upon us!

@wild00 Unfortunately, it all boils down to Politics. Age-aside the ones who are given exposure and support by the parties are those that the party side with. Which is why there are some decent to great candidates out there but because they aren't playing politics with the party leaders, they aren't given as much attention.
Donald Trump is a bit of a different story because he comes with a lot of drama and baggage that the media can't help but salivate on everything he does. His support is solid at best but dwindling at worst. He's not gaining much ground but he does have the support of key party officials because they want to keep their job, not because they whole-heartedly support him.

Russia may have gained a small amount of ground in its war with Ukraine, but is seriously wounded in that struggle. A weakened Russia means a power vacuum. You can see some of the results in Syria as I write. This also will seriously affect its ability to defend it eastern border with China that has a bone to pick with Russia and has claims on parts of Russian Siberia. Too bad elections became a line in the sand playground fight where people are more worried about "our guy" winning than finding someone who works for all sides, American citizens, regardless of the party they came out of. It's a vicious cycle of one party winning, undoing everything the former party did, only to lose the next vote for accomplishing nothing and the cycle repeating. US is a two headed dragon trying to bite each head off, not realizing if one dies, the other bleeds out too. Honestly the way 2024 election is currently shaping up to be, no matter which side wins, Half the country loses and the other half settles for less.

Watergate is a very interesting deep dive. The Father of a friend very high up in one of the political parties told me Watergate was about the JFK Assassination and keeping a lid on the truth. Some of the perps were in JFK's own Party, one was not but went on to become President of the United States itself. Although Nixon was not a conspirator or participant in the Assassination, he had the inside savy and knowledge and could name names. In fact. Nixon was in Dallas at the time of the Assassination. He denied it for years but eventually it was revealed he had attended a Pepsi board meeting in Dallas during that time period. I believe that during his stay there he may have made overtures in an effort to stop it but was unsuccessful. The wheels were too far in motion. The Watergate safe contained photos which incriminated some that were involved. Nixon felt that as we were trying to win the Cold War, if the truth got out that our own CIA and their confederates had killed a U.S. President, it would irreversibly damage our credibility worldwide and perhaps even cause us the loss of allies in the Cold War. Hunt was blackmailing Nixon over it. Hunt's wife Dorothy went down in a plane crash with a suitcase full of cash. An on site supervisor in Dealey Plaza who went on to become President, according to visitors logs, visited the White House 180 times during Watergate. In retrospect, I think Nixon would have been better off to let the truth get out. But even then he might have been assassinated himself. And the CIA would have controlled the narrative rather quickly. Nixon would be just another name on the hit list. JFK, RFK, MLK, and then RMN. I think he knew that.

JFK was better as a speaker. JFK was also a good strategic thinker but not as accurate as President Nixon.

Only John F. Kennedy could have beaten this gentleman to become President. He made a mistake while in office and paid a heavy price for his misdeed but he was very smart and respected around the world. These comments are certainly very interesting, aren't they?

Nixon really wasn’t even all that corrupt compared to others. If we had as much insight then as we do today, Nixon never would’ve been viewed as poorly as he was. I’d argue our current administration is much more corrupt than he ever was

@@bigpapi6688 I would respect your comment more if you would have suggested the 'previous' administration was politically corrupt and the truth has been coming out for years but part of the citizens base choose not to listen to what is reality.

Nixon took the dollar off the gold standard and it's been a fiat currency ever since. Including all currencies tied to the dollar.
Kennedy he was killed cause actually wanted wipe America's debt out it would have worked.

Kennedy as beloved as he was was dirty. He won my a narrow margine that mostly likely was influenced by buying his vote compliments of the mob.

all the categories and concepts he uses have shown their weakness to explain the world as it is nowadays: the American "freedom", the caricatural thinking in terms of "communism", "despotism" and "democracy"
And the definition of Russian imperialism without mentioning other major imperialism of the 20th century (namely France, US and UK)

    • @jayabee
      @jayabee 9 месяцев назад +2

I don't think he's wrong that imperialism is a larger part of Russian identity. The other powers you named have felt the cognitive dissonance of espousing values of freedom and incongruous behavior. Russia never has. It's been one tyrannical system after another.

    • @birdie_cathare

@@jayabee if by "cognitive dissonance" you mean incoherence between values and actions, i'd rather call it propaganda. All imperialist states developp a moral justification to their action, manufacturing consent of a large part of the people. Colonialist imperialism didn't have any problems with aknowledging invading and stealing other countries, remember it was "the white man's burden". Moreover i'd argue that Russia is "less or more imperialist" (if that makes any sense) or authoritarian than any mentioned countries
