the wooden sticks are actually a kind of very special salt cedar, in the process of roasting , the fresh saltcedar branches will secrete a tiny little sticky juice which not only can let the smell of the mutton be decomposed, but also add some unique flavor of the saltcedar
The red bean sauce on JianBing is actually Hoisin sauce. In China we call it Tian mian jiang and Dou ban jiang. Red bean sauce on JianBing just sounds very yummy too, I would like to try your idea to cook it at home😉. Enjoy your street food adventure!
Excellent. One can see all the landmarks and sites of a city or country but what travel is really about is experiencing the local culture. Food is my favourite way to gain an insight into a culture as well as just watching people go about their food shopping. Thanks again. Love your humour as well which always helps when traveling. Wauw. Thank you. That's really incredibly nice to hear! And yes we agree, food really helps you understand a culture! And fortunately the Chinese seem to live for good food, haha 😁 thanks again 🤗🙏🏻 EDIT: I see Naick beat me to it in replying to your message 😁
Those are not the random Skewers, those are from a tree called Salt cedar, particularly live in the dryer area in northwest China. The original grill skewers with lamb must be from that tree. In order to get the extra special aroma from it during the grilling. (It is ok if you understand the the culture of China but please don’t make conclusions so easy just by your own guessing.
Hi there. The bun you called it SHENGJIANBAO bought at the muslin market is actually called NIU ROU JIAN BAO(Beef fried bun ). About 1000-1100 EUR per month per person on average. We lived very basically in the European part though. For China we are averaging about 60 EUR per day for two people, which includes our visa fees and some other costs. For Mongolia it was less, I think about 50-55 EUR per day for two people. The transsiberian journey added up a bit to our costs, so Russia was a bit more. I guess we spent about 1200 per person for one month.

OMG love ur vedio so much!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
There are quite a few big Belgium church built Belgium construction style communities in 1920 or 30s in French concession that you may visit including Huaihaifang, Shannancun where many famous Chinese politicians, writers, painters actor or actress lived, also the first Chinese communist party set up meeting site is very close to Xingtiandi and many well known people’s Vilas are in French concession as well including the Chinese country father Sunyixian, the first PM Zhouenglai, the famous general Jiangjieshi and Zhangxueliang etc。
The paste in Jian Bing is not red bean paste, it's en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tianmian_sauce
Thanks for the info.
China is very big, and a lot of food, incredible.

It wasn't red bean in the jianbing. Its hoisin sauce or plum sauce.
Thanks for sharing!
That “shengjianbao” is actually Muslim beef bao, the real “shengjian bao” might use pork and is slightly different from this one
aha interesting, thanks for mentioning it :)
Welcome to Shanghai ! I recommend Qibao, lots of yummy shanghainese food and nice ancient Chinese water city. Easy access as well, just get off at Qibao station of Shanghai Metro Line 9.
Thanks a lot Qian. We did read that Qibao is a nice place but we didn't make it there this time. We will be back in Shanghai though!
Such appetizing fare ..
Owww yea, that was really good!
I think the "Red bean" sauce in jianbing is actually 甜面酱🤣🤣🤣 which is sweet noodle sauce……Enjoy anyways🤣
Oh thanks for the info.
Naick & Kim you are welcome👌🏻
I think it name sweet flour paste should be better... Because the majority ingredient is flour not same as others Chinese sauce made with soy bean

Explore the local specialty restaurants.

@@NaickKim don't be sorry because that means you two are showing off some good eats! Man I'm salivating again.. just watched the Xian street foods video and those noodles you two are look some yummy.... Ooooommmmmggg
Oh yes those noodles. Some of our best food footage ever is in the Xi'an video haha 😋 now I'm hungry again too 😭 this is exactly why it's hard editing food videos: they're fun to make but you get sooo hungry looking at all that food haha
What is the first place name? Is that Wujiang Rd?
It is on Changli Road. It was very close to our hostel.
@@NaickKim thanks for replying. SH is huge.
wheniam about to sleep, you help me to eat something 😭my weight!
haha sorry about that!
Where did you guys stay in Shanghai? Any recommendations?
We staid in the lanshan youth hostel. If you are into hostels, this is a good option. Very affordable with nice common area's and the staff is great.
@@NaickKim Thank you, appreciate your prompt response.
subscribed🤗
Thank you!
Why is everyone in China seem to be doing food reviews?
Best. Food. Ever. !
How much have you spent so far in this journey, i want to do the same, but to start from UK, and so far i got 5500 saved up for my journey.
