He is the show runner. Drunk History was Derek Waters idea and he stars in side roles in episodes too.

yeah I just went back to see old episodes and I saw him. I didn't know it was his idea, I just saw today that they made new ones and didn't understood why he was there in each videos. I preferred the old format where they said at the start how much the person drank and all the focus was on them.
