Issue with my sandesk extreme 500mbps read&write recording 4k 60p with my bmpcc4k. got myself a extreme pro v2 2000mbps read&write ssd after watching your video. Thx so much
The t5 will drop frames and stop while on 3:1 60fps once its more than half filled so you have to record in bursts from that point on. I heard the wise ssd's are far superior
Most people dont understand that the T5 1tb is slower than 2tb, modt ppl get 1tb and then complain. That said, i want to edit of the ssd so i am interested in extreme pro
Damn, reading the read/write speeds I thought this would be the one to allow recording with the highest settings. Do you know if any others will work at Q0 6k 50FPS?
I know what you mean, I thought the same. And no, I personally do not know of a small SSD that will handle Q0 @ 60fps. I can say a few months ago I seen a video crew here in NJ that was doing commercial work and it appeared they had a BMPCC 6K hooked to some sort of cinema grade hard drive. The setup didn't look cheap at all. So, in the end it really comes down to the question of; do you need Q0 quality? For me the answer is "No" I don't. For me all I need at this time is (shoot BRAW) 5:1 or 8:1.
@Netflix Entertainment this blog post can explain it better than I can "Blackmagic RAW Q0 has minimum quantization and yields the highest quality, while Blackmagic RAW Q5 uses moderate quantization for more efficient encoding and a smaller file size. Blackmagic RAW 3:1, 5:1, 8:1 and 12:1 use constant bitrate encoding to give customers the best possible images with predictable and consistent file sizes. The ratios are based on the unprocessed file size of a single frame from the camera’s sensor, making it easy to understand the relative amount of compression being used. The pristine camera native quality of Blackmagic RAW Q0 and 3:1 are perfect for effects heavy feature film and commercial work." www.nexttv.com/post-type-the-wire/bmd-raw-pcc4k
USB 3.1 Gen1 (bmpcc chosen port) doesn't allow high enough bitrate. The only way to record Q0 6k 50fps is through CFast or SD (I believe CFast should be better priced at that point, but you should check in your particular area for pricing).
@@lenzwizard the reason why these ssd cannot do it, is becasue the usb c interface on bmpcc cameras is only sata3, thus the data rate is not enough from the port, even though the disc itself is capable
I just got the Sandisk Extreme SSD V1 & I was shooting with it yesterday on 5:1 and 8:1 and the recording kept cutting off in 1 second intervals.. I also didn't have the stop recording if dropped frame rate setting on either. Have you ever had a similar problem?
Yes, I had some issues with the V1 dropping frames. When I first got my BMPCC I started with the Sandisk V1. It worked great as long as I recorded in 12:1. And that was ok for creating RUclips videos. But I could never record in higher quality. The V2 will let you record higher quality as long as your frame rate isn't too fast. As for dropped frames... I have always had the camera set to stop recording if i get a dropped frame.
@@christiancumberlander8562 I believe I could record 8:1 with the V1. I haven't used the V1 in a while so I don't remember. You my opinion I don't think it has anything to do with overheating because it'll dropped frames right away if you're using too high of a resolution. I believe it's all about the write speed. If your shooting at 24 fps the V1 can handle it. However, 60 fps is where it will start dropping frames at the the ratios. Even the V2 has this problem as seen in this video. Essentially it comes down to the question of; do you really need to shoot in these higher ratios for the project you're working on?
@@christiancumberlander8562 Yes, the cable can cause huge problems. And yes, the cable that comes with the V1 is too short. I bought what I thought was a good cable from Amazon (wasn't cheap). It worked fine for about 2 weeks and while I was out shooting on a small island in Thailand the cable died. My only choice was to go back to the little short SanDisk cable. When I returned to the USA I got a premium cable from B&H but it was longer than I wanted. The V2 has a longer cable. Many people have complained about aftermarket cable not working or not working correctly.
I was facing this problem Thanks For This
Thanks for this video. I was in a pinch and needed to quickly replace a defective ssd I got in the mail. This video was what I needed. Thank you!
Apologies I have the extreme not extreme pro great video bro !!!!

Thank you for watching.
Does the new SSD work well with the BMPCC4K, can you do all of the recording options with no problem? Thanks!
Is it possible that the 2tb is not as fast at the 1tb?
I'm not sure about the 2 terabyte, I only ever had 1 terabyte SSDs.
Amazon has the 2TB v2 for $299 today only for their Epic Daily Deal today.
How does this stack against the T5 SSD by samsung? What can yo shoot with this?
I have never used a T5. However many people love the T5, I just can't not really comment because I have never used one.

What can I do to it??
I used a USB cable connected from the SanDisk to my computer.

How much free space is left on the SanDisk? Sometimes if a card or hard drive is totally filled with files it can cause an issue.
