I've had the truffle pasta before and it is really delicious, there is definitely a truffle taste. I think because they both just coated their palate with truffle they tainted the results. If you all haven't tried the pasta yet really give it a try, instead of EVOO try a nice whole cream salted butter with a dash of sea salt. Brings out the flavor immensely and doesn't make the noodles feel greesy like EVOO does.

Gold flakes are not so pretentious by themselves. Original Danzig Goldwasser is a really nice wodka and a great gift and not that expensive. My late grandma, who used to be a simple teacher in a rural school, had one bottle. The bottle though, THAT brought it up to eleven...

No he's right. Just because something's expensive doesn't mean it's pretentious. Truffle actually has a very nice and unique taste and there's nothing pretentious about it. Turning it into a paste and selling it in the tiniest jar for 80 quid as if it was spooned in there by the Pope himself is. That's what makes it pretentious.

Rewatching this, what really ticks me off about the truffle paté is the _shape of the flipping glass!_ It's already a pain to get the contents out of the edges of a normal size square glass, now imagine one that's only a centimeter high. So much wastage in that thing.
I do like these taste testing videos, although some of the prices you paid makes my eyes water. So, I have a suggestion for you. Why not see how cheaply you can find some foods/ingredients from the budget style shops (like the German ones) to see how they compare to the expensive stuff. You could call it "Pleb or not"

That's a great idea! I had amazing truffle pasta from Lidl before, Italian made and obviously in the bulk they can buy means it's cheaper. Was there truffle oil involved? Yes, but it was still really really yummy.

Only found these guys about 2 months ago. One of my favourite things about working through the back catalogue is Correctly guessing, or being extremely close to the price of things, especially on the pretentious or not videos 😆
This was one of my favorites of these so far! That said, my thought with all the expensive truffle products was that, as mentioned, you could just use a good quality truffle oil or, which wasn't mentioned, you could get a cheese with truffle bits infused into it and add that to scrambled eggs or pasta for a lot less. We've done it ourselves and it's quite good while being relatively inexpensive.

This is the best one yet! It's also by far the most expensive one but it's the best one! The Arsenal one was just obnoxious but otherwise I could have eaten all that! I started researching how to incorporate (normal) honeycomb into a meal and now I've gone down the foodie rabbit hole and made a shopping list for a full charcuterie board.

This was one of my favorites of these so far! That said, my thought with all the expensive truffle products was that, as mentioned, you could just use a good quality truffle oil or, which wasn't mentioned, you could get a cheese with truffle bits infused into it and add that to scrambled eggs or pasta for a lot less. We've done it ourselves and it's quite good while being relatively inexpensive.
