  • Illustrator tutorial: Create a Vector Sunburst Quickly and Easily
    Learn to create a vector sunburst in Illustrator. This technique works with all versions of Illustrator including CS6, CC, CC2014 & CC2015.
    The process is simple and uses a stroke to make the sunburst - it is quick and doesn't require a lot of fiddling to create. It is easy enough for even a beginning Illustrator user to make. You don't have to do any math or any rotation just make a circle, add a dashed stroke and you're almost done.
    If you like, when you are done, you can then add a retro effect with a texture or crop the image so the sunburst isn't in the middle of the image any longer.

    thanks for a great tutorial! I just want to add a tip about the process at 1:50. In case the option to "align dashes to corners and path ends" is greyed out/unselectable like it was for me, just change the "align stroke" option above that to be centered, rather than inside or outside the path, and then it should work.

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  Год назад +2

      Oh my goodness. Thank you so much for pointing that out. I did a video more recently explaining that the align stroke option was critical to some things functioning or not. I am sure your comment will help others.
      I just pinned your comment ❤️

    Good tut.Super helpful. One thing I might mention though. Instead of doing the pathfinder, you could select the rectangle and the sunburst and set it to a clipping mask. That way you still have control if you wanted to move the rectangle position after the fact. Object>Clipping Mask>Make for those that would like to try that option out.

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  4 года назад

      Yes you’re totally right there. Thank you for adding this comment to the conversation. Using a clipping mask will give you the ability to move the shape later on and it’s probably, these days, the approach that I would take.

    Omg that is sooo easy! Why didn't I think of creating my sunburst this way? Lol I was trying to do it using the perspective grid tool. Ha ha. I like the way you have your tools on the right along with all the panel menus. That should make it quicker to work. I think I'm going to change my workspace like that. It will take a little bit of getting use to but worth it. Thanks!

    • @HelenBradley
