- Welcome to #pocketswap2021 - my very first Costube collab! Jeanette of A Perfect Touch annouced The Great Pocket Swap at the beginning of summer, and gave us until the middle of September to get our collective acts together (and our pockets in the mail).
I received Rebecca of Lady Rebecca Fashions as my swap partner, and Noelle of Costuming Drama drew my name. It took a while to decide what approach I wanted to take for Rebecca's pocket, but finally made a decision: Make it Goth.
Because who doesn't need a sparkly black flocked pocket with hand-crocheted edging in blood red thread? Right??

I may have watched a Leena Norms video about "Helena Bonham Carter-core" fashion before recording my facecam footage. Which explains the hair... My head-canon for the pocket itself is that I swiped Lady Tremaine's vintage pocket for Cinderella. I had a whole explanation for this based on the fact that Cinderella's outfits are very late-40's-inspired (dawn of the 1950s) what with the circle skirts and fitted bodices - but Lady Tremaine is a duck out of water in her rather Edwardian collars and sleeves. So...that she'd have an anachronistic pocket would not surprise me! 😄
The little pointy things are thread winders, but you can use them for whatever you want! 💖

Thank you for this! I really enjoyed your witty comments about Woolite, but (much more importantly) learned something crucially important about hand-crocheted lace.
Goth here: I wear almost exclusively black and jewel tones, and the combination of Tide Free and Clear and Oxiclean detergents does a great job of cleaning without fading.
I am entranced by your handmade lace.

LOVE this pocket & seeing as the vid is a year old now I won't feel bad saying Rebecca loved it too, especially the hidden Mickey! I would use this pocket a lot because it also suits my Gothy heart & would go with easily half of what I wear.

You are correct. Noel put a full list of all participants main channel links in her description on her video. Interestingly I was ( shocked) that the list was not longer. Although I am bias in the sewing subscriptions and believed ; naively, that there was a larger umbrella of Cosplay-knit-sew-quilt-textile-upcycle-tubers
I now have a new (hunt for pocket content )in the video rolls.
There are A LOT of RUclips costumers, but we don't all hang out in the same places. Just like any folks with similar interests, we tend to bunch up in smaller groups. Thank goodness for Jeanette 😁

Worth it for the Winona " I myself am strange and unusual", love your work, even though I am not into Disney cartoons. I use something like a secret pocket that clips into my skirt into the outside with metal handbag clips. The( bakelite?)needlecase is the bees knees.

Recovering Goth? Since when? I've heard the phrase once a goth always a goth more times than I can remember. I just assumed that applied to you too. Though I'm not into stealing from my neighbors, I have to wonder how someone could possibly make off with two of her neighbors ducks. I have ducks and not only are they hard to catch, they are also very noisy. I hate to imagine the state of her pocket after wards. Even if they were ducklings swiped from the incubator, they still would leave a stinky mess behind. Just doesn't sound like a well though out plan to me. Anyways I love the way your pocket turned out so cute. The crochet trim is just gorgeous. As Rachel Maksy would say, the chef's kiss. I will be looking that pattern up. I'm sure Rebecca will love it.
Since I finished my shawl I found myself with out something to work on. I realized I was hooked (pun intended) and needed something else to work on. So I bought another shawl pattern and bought some more yarn from we crochet. But I still have the silk yarn I treated myself to for my birthday and I want to make an everyday chemise to wear and add some lace for the collar I thought maybe that might be a good use for it. I have the beaded lace pattern still too but can someone ever really have enough lace? 😉

No special sewing machine feet were used for the project....just the standard setup on my well-loved second-hand Pfaff 😃
