Power tools and patience not normally something that goes together! Well done Nigel, another testament to paying attention to the details. Car looking and sounding great.
I must admit it's the build that I enjoy. In my eyes the car is a piece of art and I get just as much pleasure looking at it with beer in hand compared to driving the machine (stone cold sober of course). The best part of owning an Ultima is strapping someone in the passenger seat and letting rip. They scream, go quite, go white, laugh, it's astonishing. Keep tuned I'll have a reaction video coming your way soon
Big respect Nigel, I'd seen these ducts on photos of the car but could not imagine how they would be fitted. You made such a nice job of them and they look great, maybe I will tick that option if I eventually build a RS....
Ultima having all the CAD of the car and the updates, they could quite easily provide a (3D printed?) *jig* rather than a template for such a tricky job. You'd place the jig, make a hole and trim it flush to the jig with a router.
Yep, the model plane is my late father's. He was a professional RC model builder and qualified demonstrator of both fixed wing and rotary. I miss him a lot and the reason why I have kept his favourite bi-plane for my Dean Den
That is a nice job you did with those vents. I was wondering how exactly the finish was going to turn out as the carbon fiber addition you added was a one-piece affair and not a two-piece. I found myself getting closer to the screen as I was watching intently. As always, your workmanship is impeccable. It certainly would be nice to see your car in person when you're done, but this is the next best thing.
Masterfully done Nigel. Another success. I was a bit underwhelmed when you originally chose the white gel coat (wow that seems a long time ago now) but I can see now that it was the perfect choice to compliment all that sexy carbon. Can’t wait to hopefully see the car in the flesh one day. Maybe the show at Malvern could be the first outing? Prepare to be mobbed though. There was a guy with an Ultima there last year and he was drawing more attention than all the manufacturer stands put together!! 😂
I was undecided on the colour of the body and one of the reasons I visited the factory. However, when I saw the demo car dripping in carbon it shouted engineering prowess and a perfect canvas for the gloss carbon. I plan to be at Malvern if the stars align.
Hi Richard, it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. What does not show on the video is the single piece creates a stunning seamless reflection of light throughout the orifice. I'm sure the factory considered its options carefully when producing the component since tolling is a big investment. All I know is the end result does look sensational in the flesh
So nice to see a crossover between two of my favorite channels. You haven't said so yet (I think) but I saw it in their most recent video. Just connecting the dots 😉
Some tidy work there Dean. I wonder if that job would of been easier with a Dremel? Fingers Crossed for the IVA test although I'm sure all bases are covered.
A Dremel is a good option, but the fibreglass is pretty thick around the scoop so it would take a while. I love my finger file, it has helped me build 3 cars
Really enjoying the series, Nigel. Tool query: I’ve bought the Milwaukee rivet gun, having seen you use it so successfully on your build but I’m keen to know the brand of your rivnut installation tool. Could you let me know ? Many thanks
Great to hear you are enjoying the series. The rivet tool is made by a company called Memfast. They have produced this tool for over a decade and it's used in the aerospace industry. The website does not look much but they have sold thousands of tools. Cheers Nigel
That duct came out great !! Just out of curiosity, would it be easier to fit them before the side pods are permanently attached to the car or is that not possible ?
You are spot on, the build portal states they should be fitted prior to the side pods being fitted :-). The reason I fitted them this late in the build is because they were only available in carbon fibre post body fit. Originally they were GRP but I just wanted to wait for the later versions.
Yep, good spot. They should be fitted prior to the side pods going on but at that stage of the build the carbon fibre ducts were not available. Hence I was forced to fit post body fit.
When its all said and done Nigel, how are you going to treat your audience with severe withdrawal symptoms? You see, I'm in Australia and the sun hasn't even tossed any particles above the eastern horizon, and here I am treating my addiction now.
Surprisingly therapeutic.
@@scottjacobsen2889 thank you, I enjoy watching build videos myself. You have a few more episodes to go :-). Posting part 62 next week
Power tools and patience not normally something that goes together!

Car looking and sounding great.
Yep, little steps :-)
Wow! What a beautiful piece of artwork you have created. Thank you for sharing your progress. 😊

Very good job ! Your work is exceptional and the car is wonderful and awesome !
Thank you. She is a wonderful machine
Beautiful work Nigel… hopefully that ductwork draws the heat off those brakes… very functional as well as aesthetically pleasing 👍👍👍
I must admit they are a piece of art

Thanks Gary, I must admit once they are fitted the RS lifts to another level
Awesome, can’t wait to see this beast on the road
Not long now :-) April 2024 she should be road legal :-)
The finishing touches like the carbon ducts make all the difference to the finished look. It's going to look so polished once it's completed.😉😎😎😎
She will polish up a treat :-).
I’m so glad I installed those before putting the sidepods on the car! Well done!
I would have done that also but they were not available in carbon fibre at the time :-)
1k 👍 😍
THANKS Nigel for the videos this journey has been long and exciting, can't wait for the newest video
It's on the way :-).
I’ve been watching all these year
Good to hear, more to come :-)
Nice work Nigel, as usual 👍🏻
Appreciated, the end is in site

To be honest, making template is enjoyable for me :-)
Looks amazing
A piece of art :-)
Wow, nice work. I can see you also have a rc airplane there, cool

Appreciate the comment. It was a tricky operation but time and patience pays in the end.
And to think I was nervous cutting my new counter top for the sink ! Lol
Well, just like a kitchen counter you have one chance :-)

I Watched every episode 🤗, wow, great work Dean, I agree you need a 3M sponsorship 😊
Appreciate the support. That 3M tape is good :-)
They should do it as a two piece so one slids into the other.
The outside piece would look nice filling it and following the sill scoop more.

Hmmm, dots are for connecting - but are they the right dots ;-). Potentially yes, so appreciate you keeping this to yourself :-)
Some tidy work there Dean.

It's the little details the make all the difference. Very nicely done!
Do those extra components come in matte black or just carbon fiber?
To be honest I do not know the answer. They were originally made from grp but upgraded to carbon fibre. I guess you could paint them, but what a shame

@@v8creative Haha don't blame you !!
We miss you Nigel. Hope all is well.
All good, just sad the build is coming to an end. But then of course I can soon pilot one of the world's most capable machines
Hi Nigel,
Could you please show us, an interior of this car? How cocpit looks when you sit inside?
Yep, will give you a guided tour in the upcoming videos
I think they look great but maybe it should be done earlier in the build, you don’t seem to have a lot of wiggle room , fantastic job by the way
Yep, good spot. They should be fitted prior to the side pods going on but at that stage of the build the carbon fibre ducts were not available. Hence I was forced to fit post body fit.
👍👍
Cheers
What's a 100% guaranteed all day pass?
I am allowed to stay in the Dean Den all day working on my car without the risk of getting bothered to do DIY
Adding more lightness.😆
Of course, carbon fibre makes you go quicker ;-)
Vent should be two piece
Yep, a potential alternative solution.
When its all said and done Nigel, how are you going to treat your audience with severe withdrawal symptoms?
You see, I'm in Australia and the sun hasn't even tossed any particles above the eastern horizon, and here I am treating my addiction now.
As am I :-). As for the sun, what's that? From a grey, wet UK
@@v8creative😂😂😂
Wave back :-)
Hi Nigel, When will you release the next video (part 59.) 🥹🥹🥹 can’t wait to see
This Friday if the stars align :-)
