The team at Livernois is awesome and I can't recommend their products enough.
Speaking to me, my first was the '89 when we couldn't resist it sitting there among the plain cars. Then the 91 plus with the glass hood. Having the 5 speeds meant I could run with the BMW 5's and surprise more than one V8 2 slammer. Got me on autotrader looking damn you.
I’m 20 and I actually got a 2013 SHO this year for my first car (that I actually own). First car I drove regularly was my Dad’s 2016 Charger R/T and then when I moved out he got me a 2014 Ford Taurus Limited with about 100k miles on it. Drove that for about 2 years and decided an SHO would be a nice return to the power the Charger R/T had while keeping the style and comfort that I enjoyed from my Taurus Limited. Awesome sleeper and cool to have such a unique car.
Also dont underestimate the base 3.5l na fwd. it still has a 0-60 of about 7.1 seconds which isnt bad for a fwd 4300lb car. and if you get a 13 or newer you get twin independent variable valve timing boosting the na 3.5l from like 262hp to 280hp and you get a like 6.8-6.9 0-60. plus you can get limiteds for about 4-5g which they're comfy as hell. they're very safe too so you wont roll it over when you go sliding around a parking lot in the middle of winter.
I had the original SHO with the Yamaha bundle of snakes intake with dual runners. Long for low RPM, and short fat for high RPM. I now have a 2013 Lincoln MKS Ecoboost which is the SHO in nicer trim. I have the $500 tune from unleashed and a Whiteline rear sway bar. Fast fun grand tourer I've driven cross country and back twice.
Usually I prefer Mopar, but when I totaled my 300 earlier this year I needed a replacement car. I was scared of the water pump and timing chain failure in Ford’s 3.7l-3.5l engines. After some very frustrating times searching for a car, I settled on a 2018 SHO since it came with a Ford preowned warranty. Now I can say for sure that this car won’t lose to stock V6 Camaros and stock ecoboost mustangs like the 5.7l hemi does lol. I really like the SHO a lot, they’ve come a very long way since the 2011 SHO I owned a few years ago. Some advice for anyone who wants a SHO/MKS: Try to get a 2016 or newer if possible. Sync3 is WAY better than myfordtouch. Also, I’m a bit spoiled and like digital speedometers which is an added feature beginning in 2016.
I parked next to a 2019 tonight and found your video cause I had to know about this car. I just wanna say I appreciate your ENERGY, you are for sure a showman. 👏
2016 model. Black on black. 32,000 miles. Resonator delete. K&N air filter and cold air intake. H&R lowering springs. 390 hp; 372 lb.-ft. Body roll and dive virtually eliminated. No torque steer. Essentially a Mercedes E-S Class tweener. Kind of like a V8 550 with a solid AMG sport package. An extremely safe, family-friendly, long-distance hauler. Parked next to a naughty 2009 C63 AMG. Homicidal monster. Not fit for family duty.
Awesome video! I learned about the sho after losing to one 15 years ago in my **** bucket. I've never laughed, smiled, and cried so hard in my life. Hey y’all there where no engine changes in the 4th Gen but changing valve covers from metal to plastic and the 4th Gen is 10-12 and the 5th Gen is 13-19

@@402SHO Just because he's built a SHO, doesn't mean he knows everything about it. There are 5 gens for the engines though. But the SHO/S.H.O just has 4. Just like the S550 has 2 different gens for the Coyote but the car itself is just one gen. A car doesn't become next gen just because of a few changes to the engine, just means the engine is a next gen.
@@BlueOvals24 dude they didn’t change the engine but metal to plastic valve covers they changed the bodystyle up and called it a new Gen your talking to another sho owner that HAS A 4th GEN AND SEES 5TH GENS ALL THE TIME WHICH ARE 13-19.
@@402SHO I can tell you right now my dad has a 4th gen which is a 14. And if the valve covers were all that changed, not even the heads, then no that isn't a new gen. You don't go calling the 18-20 F150 a 14th gen, it's still a 13th with a FACELIFT, and that's what the 13+ Taurus got, a facelift, small changes to the body and interior and in this case the valve covers, very little changes to the power and drive train. By you're logic there are over 7 gens of the Taurus which isn't the case. There are 6 Taurus gens and only 4 had the SHO/S.H.O. I did my research on this when my dad said he was looking to buy one, I know almost as much about the Taurus history as I do about the F150 history. If you counted every facelift as a new gen, the F150 would have over 20 gens!
Just a heads up, some slight misinformation here. The first gen sho and second gen sho has the same motor and trans, automatic was an option. They never dropped the standard 5 speed, however all autos received the 3.2l with slightly different cams for more torque. All the v6 motors had dual intake runners with secondary butterfly's that opened up around 3500-4000rpm, depending on tuning via vacuum. A first gen/second gen sho can run neck and neck with a DE 350z, yes they run that hard. *Common mod is to swap a 3.2 block with 3.0 top end in a 5 speed car. Many mods exist for the v6 cars, if you can actually find one. I pulled mine, a 1992 emerald green one from a field and currently repairing rust in the floorpan 3rd gen sho were all 3.4l V8s ,biggest issue was the trans. The auto A4xn sucks, completely kills the car. The motor is an absolute runner though, and impressive reliable. Almost zero modifications exist for it though, but there is parts available for repair, via a site called Sho source. I also own 1996 gen 3 black sho, currently with 258k miles and still going strong.
Glad im not the only one who realized that he got a LOT of stuff wrong, especially about the older ones. For all of gen 1 only manual was offered. Gen 2 only manual was offered until mid 1993, when a 4 speed auto became an option. Gen 2 had the rod shifter manual, which is the better one
Interesting. I got my 2016 SHO because after coming from Crown Vics for 15 years, I wanted something with more lower end 'Umph' then the N/A V6 could muster. And now its a 455 HP rocketship. Thermostat, Tune, Intake, Downpipes. 2,800 bucks, and worth every dime.
My first car was a 1989 sho. My second car was a 1991 all white with white rims sho. Both were stick. My dad had a 95 auto. Yes he worked at the ford plant. I've been driving eco boosts f 150 for years now but all of a sudden I want an SHO now again! Great video

I love being able to merge straight into the left lane of the highway with no issue and there is SO MUCH ROOM. AND it's got the best amenities (except for a sunroof, but who cares about that). Not to mention most people on the highway will move over for me since they can't tell if I'm a real cop or not
Hey lads, what can you tell me about the EW10 J4S engine from the PSA group. Is it reliable ? Is it cheap ? And most importantly, can you turbocharge it ? (If not, are there other options among the PSA engines ?)
as an 89 owner/lover: the SHO was best on release, but it keeps going down hill from there first the auto that lost power through the transmission, then the cams on gen 3 that needed to be welded or it would obliterate the engine, and the latest, the WAY heavy gen 4 with near no burnout capacity, and despite having twin turbo it is still only like 5 mph faster than gen 1 (stock vs stock)
Yea the twin turbo was really a money trap by ford but they claim its to help with faster spooling based on 2 smaller turbines instead of one massive one. Which is partly true but they could have easily made a V8 single turbo car they just don't want to spend the money to make the parts. They would rather take existing engines (from the F-150) that has somewhat good power and put a performance name on it and call it a day. Smart marketing but mechanics and just car people in general know its pretty gimmicky and kinda makes the car less special. I have 2013 SHO and its never let me down except for a PTU failure and it still drove home fine so I can't even complain. 200k miles with just a PTU failure is a pretty good car in my book.
The way I always heard the story about the Yamaha V6 and Ford was: - In the mid 80s ford was developing a Fiero competitor. An affordable mid-engined, two seat sports coupe with a FWD drivetrain (in the back). - Yamaha was brought on to make the V6 for said car. - by 1987 Fiero was dead, ford changed plans and decided the engine they've already contacted Yamaha to build needs to go somewhere. Gee, this fwd super stylish new Taurus JUST won 10-best and became one of the most popular cars in the country, lets put it there. - End result 1989 Taurus SHO

I think Livernois claims a 90HP and 140TQ increase and while mine wasn't dynoed I can tell you it feels every bit as fast as that. The team at Livernois is awesome and I can't recommend their products enough.
How’s the transmission on these?
I have loved this car since they first opened the hood. Those intake runners were amazing.
Bought a 15 SHO last year, 1st owner never drove it in the winter, had 32k miles on it. 93 tunes, lowered, FBO, exhaust, couldn’t be happier with it!
I’ve been wanting a SHO for years and just when I convince myself to starting looking at other cars for a project, I find this video
I agree my taurus very quite. I turned down my idle as well so I really can not tell when it’s running.
These cars are so underrated. These things move. And you get alot of creature comforts.
A 2016 owner here and I gotta tell you this car is awesome 4SHO!
Looking to get one for a good price could you give me some advice?
Just bought my 2013 Ford Taurus SHO with 56K on it and I’m in love
Also dont underestimate the base 3.5l na fwd. it still has a 0-60 of about 7.1 seconds which isnt bad for a fwd 4300lb car. and if you get a 13 or newer you get twin independent variable valve timing boosting the na 3.5l from like 262hp to 280hp and you get a like 6.8-6.9 0-60. plus you can get limiteds for about 4-5g which they're comfy as hell. they're very safe too so you wont roll it over when you go sliding around a parking lot in the middle of winter.
Thank y’all so much for using my pic as the thumbnail!
?
I’m really looking in too finding a 2016 for a good price could you give me some advice on how I could
The intros and leading up to the drop always make me smile
I have a 14 Flex Ecoboost (same platform) and it is awesome, favorite car I've owned
" so you want a Acura legend" day one 😂
Hell yeah! I had a 94 and now own a 92 5-speed with a custom short shifter 😁
I have a 90 coupe 😎 definitely the 5 speed to!
Have had mine for years, love it, turbos make everything better.
I have a 1995 MTX SHO and a 2014 SHO. Both are great cars.
Well this was unexpected. As a Taurus die hard fanboy I like this a lot lol.
The Sho is a monster!!!
think its bad ass now, go check out the blue turd do an 8.9 second 1/4 run
Finally!!! I have been waiting soooo longggg for thissss!!!!!
I parked next to a 2019 tonight and found your video cause I had to know about this car. I just wanna say I appreciate your ENERGY, you are for sure a showman. 👏
Wanted one forever. Just got my 2017 and I love it. It’s fast. Fast fast.
Looking to get one for a good price could you give me some advice?
day 27 of so you want a Honda Fit
I love my 2013 SHO. I call it my highway fighter. So much fun to drive in S mode with a tune.
Love the energy in this video
I’ve been waiting for this one for to long.
I love my baby . It's a true sleeper .. can't wait to mod
Im getting one Monday :P im excited
Yesss I have one myself thanks for this video❤❤💪💪
Awesome video! I learned about the sho after losing to one 15 years ago in my **** bucket. I've never laughed, smiled, and cried so hard in my life. I've owned my 3rd gen for a little over 5 years now. It's an absolute pain but that 3.4 v8 has such an unique tone. I couldn't help it. Lol. Thanks for the video.
I want the sixth-gen soooo bad I love it.
Love my SHO! Best vehicle I’ve owned so far.
I’m tryna buy one how is like the reliability
@@badru7544 so far amazing. Bought mine back in August 2020 with 107k miles. Now in Feb I’m at 119k and have not had an issue. Just keep up with maintenance like any other vehicle.
@@AdubWoodygood to know - , is 15k a good deal on a 13’ sho ? 80k miles . been going back and forth on whether or not i wanna get it.
@@adamowens5507 that price sounds about right. I paid 11k for my 2013 back in 2020 with 95k on it. Just be SURE you have maintenance history. These cars are expensive when things break. Ask if the timing, water pump and turbos have been replaced and when. Cost me 2500 to replace the timing and water pump recently.
Past 2013 is the ideal car better styling and upgrades i have a 2016 love it alot
Never gets enough recognition. Great car & great video 🤙🏼
It's a steal forsure, they're underrated
Love my 2013 SHO. Had it since Sept of 2012 and would not give it up for anything. Only driven during the summer months since it has the performance pak but absolutely love it.
Are they really that bas to drive in the snow?
@@stephenprice9635I daily drive mine with a tune corsa catback and cold air intake and it’s okay in the snow you’ll spin even with snow tires unless you baby it lol (from experience) it’s a heavy car so just gotta be weary of pushing while turning
Have one of the last 2019's produced... Love it.
The SHO is definitely slept on. The handful I've driven can get up and go and they can be the perfect sleeper.
I literally just naught, I clicked this so fast
Literally bought a sho, woke up this morning and saw this video. Meant to be? I think so.
Nope. Just your phone listening to everything and making suggestions.
What band aid are you talking about? I don't see one
Owned my 2013 for about 3 years now.. love it! Nothing like smokin a Camaro... LOL
I was today years old when I learned it’s called SHO and not S.H.O...
It used to be an S.H.O.
I still call it the S.H.O.
depends who you ask, I am from the cult, and it is frequently pronounced SHO
It's both lol.
Just for the 4th gens. The other 3 were S.H.O
Bought my sho today with GH tune. Still in awe
I have a 2010 sho and it is amazing. I love it. Great counterpart to my built mustang.
Almost bought one I regret not getting it
Just bought my SHO 15’ v6 Twin turbo today and am in love
How is it doing one year later ? What about maintenance cost ? What was the mileage when you bought it and what price?
Currently looking at SHO 15 46k miles and one with 75k miles. Both full options and extra set of rim.
Found a 2010 within budget. Can’t wait to get my hands on it
Got one. Love it. Used 2019 with only 9k on it. Still has factory warranty
Looking to get one for a good price could you give me some advice?
man i bought a police sho model, and i freakin love it. everything to the are u a cop questions at the gas pump to just pure joy from people seeing how hard it pulls. thanks for making this video
I brought mine to a random little place for its initial inspection, and the calls of "Hey, come check this out" being called from inside the garage was already well worth the purchase price. I love mine.
The police versions aren’t SHOs 😂, they barely put out 305 hp and aren’t turbocharged
@@gabrielbay2539 Look a little deeper. 3.5 ecoboost engines are in police models. not nearly as many as the 3.7 but they are out there and available to buy. not my first interceptor...lol
Hey y’all there where no engine changes in the 4th Gen but changing valve covers from metal to plastic and the 4th Gen is 10-12 and the 5th Gen is 13-19
Just 4 gens bud. 13+ was just a facelift. Just like how the 18+ Mustangs are still part of the S550.
@@BlueOvals24 one the the fastest Taurus owners says there’s 5 Gens I’ll take his word for it over you bro. I didn’t post this for no reason we have a forum post about how wrong they kinda where😅
@@402SHO Just because he's built a SHO, doesn't mean he knows everything about it.
Just bought one today! 2016 with 25,000 fleet car :) get to pick it up tomorrow!
I pulled mine, a 1992 emerald green one from a field and currently repairing rust in the floorpan
3rd gen sho were all 3.4l V8s ,biggest issue was the trans.
Just bought a 2015. I've owned 4 1st generation and a couple 2nd. Now I'm wondering where to start my journey to 500hp.
@@jasonredepenning Fuel system. It runs out of gas at ~430 (using 91 octane). Downside is a bigger fuel system is like 3 grand.

I've been driving eco boosts f 150 for years now but all of a sudden I want an SHO now again!

Ford should bring back a sho car
ONLY if Yamaha designs the engine again
or hell, just take the old yamaha engine and put a turbo on it then i'm sure it'll still beat mustangs

I’m looking at a 2009 Ford Taurus, how reliable are these cars or this year of the car?
I just bought a 2013 Taurus SHO about a month ago and that thing SLAPS. All my car guy friends love it, all my car oblivious friends are really impressed, and it is so fun to drive. I love being able to merge straight into the left lane of the highway with no issue and there is SO MUCH ROOM. AND it's got the best amenities (except for a sunroof, but who cares about that). Not to mention most people on the highway will move over for me since they can't tell if I'm a real cop or not
I can't find any decent 2019 SHO tho... Does anyone know where to look for?

As a non SHO but Taurus owner, glad to see this.
You poor bastard
My dad used to have one I drove it a couple times and loved it
Just came from the Premier of the Venom F5, looking good
So I’m getting a 2018 Ford SHO within 2 days. Any advice so I can keep the car running smooth and safe?

Maybe a little late to the party here but what is the difference between the pre 2015 and post 2015 models. You said some upgrades, but what upgrades?
Well, at least he mentioned the SVX.
I own a 18 sho and it's a beast
Hey lads, what can you tell me about the EW10 J4S engine from the PSA group.
Is it reliable ?
Is it cheap ?
And most importantly, can you turbocharge it ?
(If not, are there other options among the PSA engines ?)
Gonna buy me one here soon
What are your plans with it?! -Edgar
as an 89 owner/lover: the SHO was best on release, but it keeps going down hill from there
first the auto that lost power through the transmission, then the cams on gen 3
that needed to be welded or it would obliterate the engine, and the
latest, the WAY heavy gen 4 with near no burnout capacity, and despite having twin turbo it is still only like 5 mph faster than gen 1 (stock vs stock)
The way I always heard the story about the Yamaha V6 and Ford was:
- In the mid 80s ford was developing a Fiero competitor.
100% sleeper. I'd love to have the newer one as a daily. Coming from the Mazdaspeed platform, I have a thing for quirky discontinued cars 😅
