As long as there is no arranger mode on Push 3 in standalone mode I think that it can not replace the Force for you. And: No touchscreen on Push 3 if this is a must for you. Just my 2 cents!
I just became a subscriber yesterday and this Dude tells it like it is. Instantly fell in love. Everyone just remember, and I keep making this mistake myself so I speak from experience…..all these tools are very helpful, but if you can write great beats, you could have a turd to work with and it will probably sound better than those who can’t write and have the best equipment. I always thought l, well if I just get this new thing, it will solve all my issues. The only issue is me. Truth be told, you can write and produce incredible songs on the Force without anything else. Yes it has some limitations but if you write well and learn the ins and outs, you don’t have to spend another 2k.
Abelton came correct, and the fact that they're letting you know that this is just the beginning, is scary! They already announced that they're gonna build up the Push 3, so it won't be obsolete in a year, but will continue to upgrade!🙏🏾✊🏾💚
If you buy a Push 3 today, don't expect that you could "boost" the CPU and the Ram on the board of your Push 3 in the coming years ! There's no chance to find a brand new "old" socket CPU. If Intel decid to stop the production and launch a brand new one it's just game over \o/ because there's no stock in all shops, the last solution is the second hand market and I wish a good luck to find a decent (working) CPU. and it's the same deal with the memory.
I think one thing good about push 3, if you have Max For Live, you can bring about your own virtual synths inside the push 3. With Force you cant do that but Force is still an amazing machine though. Better yet I’ll have both of them.
I’m low key excited about some competition to the Force so Akai gotta a challenger. The Force was in a class all by itself in my opinion. That 64 pad layout and once them updates got pushed out with the arranger, vocal pitch effects, and plugins, it’s a beast that a lot of people sleep on. Another RUclips who is a beta tester for the Force is excited about the things that Akai is working on but he has no clue when that stuff will be ready for release. The Force does everything I need it to do now so I’m good but definitely interested in a Force MK2🤔🤔🤔
Elbow, I think there will be good and bad things. At the moment seems like Force when it first came out. Also no touchscreen and smaller display. Naming tracks could only be done with jog wheel. No typing on screen like Force. Minor but soon annoying. Seeing everything on screen and corresponding to pads is a biggie for Force. Doesn't seem possible with Push.
The Akai MPC key 61 can do expressions on the screen and on the strip on the side of the screen, and all the other MPC's with the touchscreen can also do expressions, so I don't know what you're talking about when it comes to Akai not being able to do expressions, check out the manual and the chapter explaining the XY screen pad.
Never leave youre best friend.. Force rules. In youre heart you know that.. Its like youre first love.. Never forget where you come from. That first kiss maybe not perfect in the beginning but sooo warm at the end.. Well.. You know.. Happy 2024 🎉Regards
I think this would serve me as a $2000 effect’s processor and Audio recorder. But I would still sample and construct the basic beat on the Force. What if Roland gets in on this game and drops an MV9000…?
had the same thought and then i realised you cant upgrade the screen to a touchscreen haha - if they will come up with a good view on a ipad extra Im on the train
It looks like the force cuz the Akai helped design push 1, I’ve been using Push 2 since it came out and I’m going to keep using it until I can afford the 2 Bands for this. If you don’t want to use Ableton you should definitely not get this. You can’t arrange in stand alone so you have to use the DAW. I’m getting the Push 3 eventually because it’s my main DAW and instrument.
I feel you man. I don't want to get into Abelton. Its a great program but I don't want another daw or plugin. I think i may get the push though to add to my dj sets.
Bro with the Push 3 you can finally get past those 8 audio tracks on the Force. Music Radar's video showed the Push 3 loaded up 50+ Instances of Wavetable 👀
From what I heard online the Push 3 doesn't have the "Recording Arranger" and the AF does, which is a let down for the push. Anyway, I have just got the AKAI Force and love it, although whilst it came with AL software, it never came with MPC 2??? software...which means my Expansions JPG thumbnails don't appear when I access the Force... is there a way to access the internal memory on this thing? Or do I have to buy MPC 2 software, so I can transfer my old MPC X expansions onto this thing so they show up on the list?
Elbow, I’m looking at it. My first reaction is that I have the Tascam Model 16 with the usb-b and don’t want to go back to ADAT. But I will probably get it.
I totally agree with you. And for that kind of money, I would like a real standalone device without Ableton. And 2 hours of work in portable mode is very little.
Transferring projects between pc and push3 will always be a major advantage over akais buggy attempt at it. Either way though still have to bounce everything to audio not work with 48 midi tracks like i do.
But it sounds like it can be stand alone but from reading it and maybe I’m wrong….but you may have to transfer your computer project over to it for it to be stand alone?? I’m not sure if that is true. I use my own synths no sample packs or anything so I just want to know if I just use it for midi and then sampling my own instruments….can I just avoid Live completely?? I’m gonna wait to see more videos…..but I do love your video…and I do love my Force as a sequencer and mixer and arranger as well. Lately not even using that so much….I got a Nautilus to use as my mixer and recorder and use my Midiphy Rev 4+ with Beat Step Pro for sequencing (nautilus sequencer is very antiquated but 16 audio tracks is incredible) If Force would up its audio tracks, I would not use anything else!
This just goes ro show you that Akai was short changing loyal users it would not have hurt their bottom line to have included a user upgrade of ram and hi end processor in thier flagship models or better yet making their oricessors update blend to the public as Ableton is doing for the force now Akai will be in big trouble if they decide to do a standalone mpc type machine 😅
It's big mamas house, and his alter ego starts talking again. Bad signs for the Push 3 😆. To be honest: that modular concept is really cool. As an Ableton user, I like it. It's just too big, and too expansive for outdoor / couch usage.
Been an Ableton user for many many years now and went with the MPC in 2019 because I hated switching on my computer all the time just to get some ideas out of my head. I fell in love with the hybrid flow of the MPC but then the MPC SW lacks many things. So I loved making sounds and arrange in standalone but when it came to final mixdown of my HW synths and then mixing I was left alone with a subpar piece of PC software or when exporting for another daw had to recreate all effects again because the MPC does not export them. Then I tried the force and it was the same except here I was forced (no pun included) to export to another daw. I always wished Ableton would be an MPC-like experience with the push being standalone and for final mixing I could just go into the daw on my pc and mix it there with the push as the controller. Now they start to deliver and I feel that my MPC era is going to end soon. We'll see when it arrives. Ableton just may have delivered what the Force should have been.
If you haven't been using Ableton Live as your DAW before buying Push 3 it's going to be one steep learning curve with the standalone version. If you are used to Force and you don't need MPE (and no, you don't need it) you are good as you are. Better to compare Push 3 standalone with Machine+ to get your head around the workflow. It may be standalone in some ways but it is much more based around the controller and desktop/laptop as your home base than MPC/Force.
if it's about not needing anything (like you said with MPE), then you could just use a tape deck and a bucket and a stick to make music. I think especially the MPE is one of the three major features that eventually might get MPC, Force and Machine in trouble. The other two are: replaceable hardware features (could pave the way for 3rd parties to release hardware expansions you can not dream of right now) and of course the standalone aspect (there's still features missing but we are also just getting started here)
@@binarysun_ That's some strange spin you put on there. If you have a Force and you are getting work done you don't need to be hurting your wallet and wasting time on new shiny toys. You are not there to make money to spend on more gear.
People are really excited that the device will be upgradable. I guarantee you there is no chance that you will be able to change just the cpu or ram because all of these components are usually soldered on the board. And these boards won't be cheap.
Force and Push 3 together is strong like Voltron with that A/B fader on the Force. Also…Ableton will change your life. All other DAWs bow down to the king.
I think it's too early to consider PUSH 3. Wait a bit to see what Ableton does with and get as much out of the Force as you can in the meantime. I have Ableton Suite but I barely use it as like you I have other daws I like better (and frankly I like Bitwig better than Ableton).
Ableton Pushed it real good. They listened to their loyal customers. Akai never listens. They just released the MPC X SE which is just nice but not special. It's just another bank robbery. Your bank. Akai must respect the customer that made them rich and Akai must pay respect to Roger Linn. They have a lot of work to do because the competition is finally on. Finally
Did the old MPC X stop working or something? Akai definitely listens. Compare what the MPC OS looked like when it released and now and its night and day.
@@apoclypse Did they listen to Roger Linn? They dumped him. The sound of the MPC today is not what it used to be. Did they listen to customers that want linear sequencing? I'm not talking about the MPC Force here. The regular MPC. They just released the MPC X SE which "look" nice and Akai crammed it with a lot of plugins. Nice. However, you still look at one sequence on the screen. That is a huge mistake. You've got a lot of plugins, but still look at one sequence. For 429 dollars, you can buy a sampler with linear sequencing and three vocal tracks and it's all visible on one screen. The smpltrek. Just saying. If Sonicware can do it for less, why can't Akai do it. They rather disrespect Roger Linn and give you nothing but repetitions. Ableton Push 3 looks amazing and "listened" to their customers. A lot of people talked about a "standalone" version of the Push for years. Guess what, it's here now. I'm not taking anything away from Akai, however, they continue to steer their own course. The game is on and thank God it is. We need quality product in every aspect.
@@dennishunter5552 Roger Linn hasn't been involved with the MPC since the MPC 3K. So I'm not understanding your point there. As for the rest. The MPC has its workflow whether you think it's a mistake, a lot of people love it. Personally I'm a Force user and what you posted here is mostly a non-issue on that device.
@@apoclypse Ofcourse Roger Linn hasn't been involved for long time, because Akai slammed the door in his face like bye. The story is on RUclips. Go look at it. The MPC is a nice machine and i leave it exactly right there. However, for 2400 dollars you would expect at least an updated sequencer. That's my concern. It's not only making BoomBap beats in a loop, it's also the ability to make full songs with it today as well and Akai should look at it in my humble opinion. The time is now. Salute my brother
Push 3 is what I expected from Force. There were many times I carted the Force but couldn’t go through with it. Push 3 and Ableton's reliability(it took Akai a few years to meet their promises about the Force) is a no brainer for me.
@@novalogue for me it's that I can take my production from the push to a daw and continue working on it without any trouble that some plugins won't export or I cannot go back because once I moved my project to another daw I am stuck there and other things. I love that about the MPC but here the PC software is so far behind that it hurts. The Push 3 (at least for me) promises to improve that workflow: make a beat in standalone then take it to the daw without loosing anything and if I need to just go back and take it to a stage more easily.
why is nobody talking about the synths in Force which are awesome, which Push 3 is lacking. Of course connected to the PC it has them, but standalone its gone..
I use ableton full time and have been using force and bring projects over to ableton. I love force but the push 3 is just too integrated to pass up. I hate ableton stock sounds though, akai is killing on that front. It’s tough for me but I’ma have to move to push, I’ma mis my baby though
1. controller = $999 2. push with ''intro'' - comes "out the box" - 16 track max 16 scenes max and 4 instruments = $1999 3. push 3 with intro but you BUY ableton standard + $449 = $2449 4. push 3 with intro but you BUY ableton suite + $749 = $2749 4 versions actually
Facts but you do get a little discount for having intro. You can get Ableton Intro in a cereal box at this point. CRAZY that you don’t get standard - minimum - with a $2000 purchase.
This is why I’m going to stop watching RUclips videos on new gear, everyone’s talking about how it looks how much gig it’s got what new tricks it can do , which all great ! But nobody tells you what convertors it’s got, will it sound banging straight out the box or will you need to use that 8gb of vst to make it sound full . They and all music manufacturers need to give us proper sounding gear if they want to charge stupid prices.
Hands down Ableton LIVE is thee best DAW. PERIOD. I use it constantly. I used the APC 40MK2 with Ableton LIVE/performance and always wanted a standalone version that's why I wanted and got the FORCE to play live and perform. If Akai let me run our own plugins like vst2 and would be unbelievable if we could run max4live devices in the FORCE WOW that would bebgame changer status yeah processing power upgrades on the force would be great too. The mpe stuff ain't a selling point for me. its gimmicky in my opinion. 😂lol that was hilarious at the end AKAIAH!😂
There's alot of people really hyped about MPE, but let's be honest, you can add alot expressivness on the Force only with the mod wheel (controller), crossfader, env follower, etc. Alot of these mpe fanboys would benefit more from piano lessons thank from a new hardware with MPE pads IMO. Furthermore, that device has only 2 inputs and 2 outputs? That's a big no go for me. May the force be with you
Thank you for discussing the topic of Push 3 compared to Force… or at least being “tempted” by Push 3. … I’m surprised that no-one else is discussing this AT ALL. I have the Force… I like it… it can be a bit unstable at times… and finicky at times … but I still think it’s a good device- and was certainly the first trying to emulate Ableton as Standalone. That’s actually what got my attention about the Force to begin with… that it was the closest thing to a stand-alone Ableton … it literally emulates Ableton’s workflow… (I highly suggest you check out Ableton as a DAW- if you like the Force… you love Ableton… because Force was based on Ableton’s design, layout, and workflow). Now that the Push 3 is out the Force is no longer the only thing that comes close to being Ableton in a box. But… I’m actually in disbelief that Push 3 doesn’t have a larger screen, or the capability to do Arrangement mode on it. However, I also recall that neither did the Force when it was released. We’ll see how this develops. Ableton does produce solid software and Equipment.
Honestly it’s nothing to be excited about. It’s a push 2 with mpe, 2 hour awful battery life, a few new buttons, audio interface to make it look legit. The intel nuc processor with passive cooling is kinda of a nutso deal and sus for performance. It has crazy menu diving which sucks already on the push 2. You can’t even name your own projects or rename files. Do your research don’t let the shiny black box lure you in with the 808 glide potential which you can already do with what you got. Wait until these other manufacturers release their version of mpe pads. Now with the software portion implemented into Ableton we should start to see more controllers with mpe. I am a Ableton user and I use the force for idea creation. I have a push 2 so I know the struggle of the menu system of the push. I just can’t believe they didn’t do anything better with the push 3.
I don’t care about brand names and have no loyalty, I make music and will buy the best equipment that helps me do that. Push 3 right now is that device. I have a small desk and every bit of kit needs to earn it’s place. Ableton is a better daw than MPC, the plug ins are better and the software is better. Most of todays top tunes are made and mastered in ableton not Akai software. I don’t make music in fields or in coffee shops. So I will go with the basic version to start and I already have ableton Suite. So it’s a no brainer. This is a very minimal set up with a Mac book. No extra audio devices and hard drives etc. I know what I would do if I was Akai but hey I’m not on their payroll so they can figure that out by themselves. 😂
As long as there is no arranger mode on Push 3 in standalone mode I think that it can not replace the Force for you. And: No touchscreen on Push 3 if this is a must for you. Just my 2 cents!

@@apoclypse
Ofcourse Roger Linn hasn't been involved for long time, because Akai slammed the door in his face like bye.
What are the benefits of the workflow with the push 3 over the force?
@@novalogue for me it's that I can take my production from the push to a daw and continue working on it without any trouble that some plugins won't export or I cannot go back because once I moved my project to another daw I am stuck there and other things. I love that about the MPC but here the PC software is so far behind that it hurts. The Push 3 (at least for me) promises to improve that workflow: make a beat in standalone then take it to the daw without loosing anything and if I need to just go back and take it to a stage more easily.
@@binarysun_ So basically the flexibility not to have to sample anything and have everything still tweakable summed up right?
Ok interesting take
why is nobody talking about the synths in Force which are awesome, which Push 3 is lacking. Of course connected to the PC it has them, but standalone its gone..
Elbow I’ma be honest with yah; I think you’d love the push 3 fr 🔥 I hope you check it out!
Elbow have a lot of respect for you but didn't you just get the MPC xse why would you need a push three
Wait…Tim are you working with my wife bro! 🤨
Beware gear lust!! Ableton is a frustrating learning curve that just goes on and on. I think it's worth it, but it is annoying.
I use ableton full time and have been using force and bring projects over to ableton. I love force but the push 3 is just too integrated to pass up. I hate ableton stock sounds though, akai is killing on that front. It’s tough for me but I’ma have to move to push, I’ma mis my baby though
Although part of me wanna keep both 😅💸💸💸
Quit being so dramatic this push dont have a built in arranger and comes live intro
I gonna use a daw anyway
😅you said booty pads
Come on over to the dark side lol. Ableton gang gang
Naw I’m good with my live2
Ableton built in, bendable notes, upgradable components!! 😢R.I.P. Force 😂😂😂
1. controller = $999
2. push with ''intro'' - comes "out the box" - 16 track max 16 scenes max and 4 instruments = $1999
3. push 3 with intro but you BUY ableton standard + $449 = $2449
4. push 3 with intro but you BUY ableton suite + $749 = $2749
4 versions actually
Facts but you do get a little discount for having intro. You can get Ableton Intro in a cereal box at this point. CRAZY that you don’t get standard - minimum - with a $2000 purchase.
Daylight robbery
No huh bro the force is with you Luke 😂😂😂
Don't Akai make the Push 3 for Ableton? Future upgrading = WIIN
hell no they dont, Ableton kicked them to the curb after the Push 1 and been building thier own ever since
The price of GAS is Hiiiiiiigh
Ableton does produce solid software and Equipment.
ableton is fast bro its nice and its not the force
2.5 tho
AKAIAH big mad 😂😂😂
🤣look how slim it is
Educational purposes!!! Hilarious.
Mpc all day
The Push3 is the new hot friend you told your GF not to worry about 😛
The force 1299.00
I paid $600 for mine used and it’s in perfect
Condition. I love the force.
I paid 600 also
You shouldnt even have looked at the Ableton Push 3. Now you about to be in the dog house with Akaiya. You gotta do better bruh.
I don’t care about brand names and have no loyalty, I make
music and will buy the best equipment that helps me do that.
“better” 😂😂😂
Ableton Sucks.
My opinion!
