Just bought the force, you sold me on it, thanks for your videos! I needed a way to do vocal tracks without a laptop. I think I’ll be happy with it, the MPCX lives next to it.
The Force is the best piece of equipment I ever purchased.I have been producing since the 80's and pretty much used everything.Once you understand the Force capabilites and power its no turning back.I do know the Force very well.
Love seeing fellow Force users. Started out slow and a pain in the ass, and almost sent it packing, but once I got used to it I can't leave it alone it's the centerpiece of my humble studio. I just wish it had more dedicated outs like the mpc2500 for example. I like this thing recording live as well, the way you can mute and unmute down to individual pads of your kits is fun as well as the crossfader is a well utilized tool for me. It is one of my favorite ways of utilizing this Beast! It's like an all-in-one scratchpad but for how I use it I can realize from start to end and I just record into a DAW of my choosing, I'm using this live recording quite a bit to do routines and whatnot if that makes sense. I love the onboard effects as well as plugins(please keep expanding on this Akai), but as stated earlier I want more outs as I like using a lot of external equipment to process from the Force as I'm into modular as well as other types of effects that are out there. I will say this since the few firmware updates I have seen a lot less, almost none now in fatal errors which is very nice as I was having quite a few when I first had this thing up and running. Thankfully I've dialed in my process of saving so if I ever do get an error that when I lose everything I can grab it right back from the computer and rebuild it depending how much was lost
I am with you bro, I been cheerleading the Force since the very beginning. Once I realized what structure Akai was mimicking with the Force (People are always surprised when I say what I am about to say), it became easy to get around. It has the look of Ableton but, it is absolutely structured after NI Maschine. My admiration for the Force got me kicked out of MPC Gang fb group; I say that to emphasize that I knew it was going to be special (even with all the limitations when it was first released). Super excited to see people seeing the future with it now. I said it back when it was released and will say it now…the Force can do everything our MPCs can but (because of the design and initial coding limitations) MPCs cannot do everything our Forces can do. Best Akai device hands down…the initial rollout just made it hard for the rest of the world to see.
Have Had my force for about an year now. If you can look past few things that don't work quite right as of now (but there's been some chatter that akai is working on fixing some of em). You will find its worth even 5 years down the line from today!. Have spent considerable about of time on it and writing own tools around it. It's a beast that you need to spend time with to reap in the rewards.
Into sampling since the 80's, I have too much gear, I spend most of my free time just keeping it running and troubleshooting, repairing etc. instead of actually making stuff. So i looked for an all in one solution that can replace 70% of my setup and after ogling Kronos, s88, mk3, +, Live... One... I stumbled on your video's and I'm convinced the Force is the sleeper that answers all my needs. But above all I'm soooo happy I found your channel! You're sooo genuinely in love with your stuff... Priceless. Keep doing what you do!
I bought the Force 2 months ago and I can absolutely say it is worth it even with all the the frustrations like not being able to explode pitches to tracks ; but I’ve made at least 2 complete beats every 4 hrs which is way more than I’ve done with a Daw … it just pushes you to focus on the meat and potatoes with no distractions
If you are solo artist you will need a "looper device + guitar effect processor + drum machine + bass Synth + vocal effects processor " . . This thing does it all ! Thats why I m saving up to buy this , even though it cost "1.5xactual price" in my country ! . . .
Great video man. Force has been critically slept on, but people are starting to see it for what it is and it just keeps getting better. Still learning stuff I can do with it that blows my mind to this day and I’ve had it for almost a year. They could teach a college course about how deep this device goes 😂
Just bought a Force and going through your tutorials. Thanks a ton for your efforts to explain everything to newbies like me! I have an MPC One, but the way it wants you to put everything into sequences and can't give you an interface to access things directly, I had difficulties to move beyond loops and beats. The Force immediately clicked with me, and I am totally in love with it.
Oh wow... Just in time. I still haven't made a beat on my Akai Force. Might need to get the manuel and watch all thw tutorials I can on youtube.. Thanks Marcus.
Honestly, I walk past my Akai Force multiple times daily without turning it on but I appreciate your helpful videos. Maybe I'll mess around with it today...........maybe.
Took me a year … learning that the bottom two rows of buttons are key helped me. Shift and those, how the stop recording and start looping to keep a groove going as you develop it … without that i lose interest. Coming from ableton it felt a bit wonky, but i enjoy being away from the pc. The zero latency built in instruments and dded a 1 tb ssd and splice connection … pick a base from the iphone sync it down immediately get going. Its dope
Game changer, dragged me away from daws. Have mine attached to a 22 channel mixer, a dozen synths, all going into an 8 channel audio interface into the Force. Quickest way to get ideas down, no staring at screens, no mouse, no browsing the effing internet 🙂
Thanks for the video, man. MPC Live mk i lover here, but I just ordered a Force after seeing the 3.1 update drop. Looking forward to that comparison video between MPC and Force - about to go look for that on your channel.
id like to know what if any outboard instruments you have connected to the force? with 3.1 i think you can control or 'stream' up to 32 instruments at once. great content!
I bought a Force last week. Can’t get enough of it. A bit to learn to begin with but now I’m really getting the hang of it. It’s very intuitive and easy to create magical things once you learn the basics.
Informative video. I own the Force and thought you could interchange or import just about anything with the MPC series besides the obvious like grid controller mappings, but I was surprised when you said we cant import MPC beats. Can you talk more on that in your next video ? Where are the differences that restrict this ?
Most definitely. The machine itself is gorgeous. Which plays a part into songmaking. I can whip up a drum kit I created, get a sample and lazy chop my beats. Or for singer songwriter, I have multiple effects for my guitar or bass, I can EQ, live perform, ALL THAT in ONE machine. I have the Live 2 and the Force and I use the Force the most. It's just so good for live performances and songwriting. My gripes is it crashingon me when I'm loading effects on pads or if I'm syncing my Splice samples while I'm making a beat. Also, Akai needs to pay more attention to this device. This is the most DAW in the box equipment out there and they can make it topof the line if they keep the updates coming.
@elbowMedia Studios - you're going to love Force even more when disc-streaming is released (along with most of the other stuff that came with MPC 2.10)... ;)
Patrick, is disk streaming coming in the next update? I’m tossing up between force or octotrack for performing live techno. Ableton is my go to DAW so force sounds good but I need disk streaming
Here’s one that I’m stuck on , when recording vocals on the arranger. It seems to wipe out the other two audio tracks(made up of Wav files) any clues why that happens?? The wav tracks are not on record, and are off in the IO
For use mobile I have the 1010Music Blackbox Studio which streams samples from card and can use MPC Multisamples. It’s like 1/5 the size of my MPC One. No integrated battery but almost and USB Powerbank will feed it for hours.
I love it too. A few quirks though, for sure. How it handles the sample pool for example is even less intuitive than on MPC, in my opinion. The biggest disappointment for me - coming from the MPC Live - is that it still uses the old program (clip) edit, because it lacks all of the features present in the MPC 2.10 update. Except for Hype, of course, since that was exclusive to Force at launch. Where is my vocal suite? My new effects, my new synths like the Arp, Solina, and Mellotron? Key-detect? Etc etc. Come on, Akai. We’re still here, and we’re still waiting.
Is it possible to change the microtiming of the notes? Most standalone sequencers/grooveboxes only offer a kind of groove/swing parameter but for the kind of 80s music I play (ebm,..) I need a more controlled way of moving a note/set of notes ticks left or right. So far only my yamaha rm1x offers that kind of flexibility to grab notes and move them while playing a multitude of ticks. Im wondering if the akai force can also deliver that kind of functionality. Thanks!
The Akai Force is the truth. It's Infinity Stone level good. Once you get the hang of using the buttons set up, the sky's the limit. I'm never going back to DAWs.
I absolutely love this thing. Yes when i got it out the box I left the protective film on the screens in case it was too much for me to learn. But with Marcus teaching on the tutorials and the demo tracks built in, i was able to keep working through until i mastered this mf. I arrange the whole sht in the force and only send it to abelton to EQ it and get my sound i want.
Force has everything I need. Yet I am seriously hoping for 'MIDI learn' like MPC live though, in the firmware upgrade. MIDI fighter twister works like magic on MPC live.
My only 2 gripes..or pet hates with the Force is that I wish the whole top part was slightly tilted instead of completely flat. I also wish the launch buttons were on the left and the other buttons were on the right. That would have made more sense to me. why did they put the launch keys on the right... that just feels cack handed
I kind of overlooked this when it 1st came out but it seems like a beast with the latest update. I’ve used old & new MPC’s but it’s just too many menus for me compared to Ableton where I can just set a 2 bar loop drag & drop sounds and get straight to work. So are you saying the Akai Force is like an MPC & Ableton in a standalone unit?
what do you think about the new update? ive been debating the force or a live 2, i just wish it could work with logics loop launcher. THEN it would be perfect for me.
Understand the love...but c'mon, the sounds are dated crap in this... The Maschine MKIII or MC-707 are significantly better choices for sound quality and variation...
